nicko Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Nicko, another question. Have you heard anything more about the Coventry takeover?? You might want to read this... http://iccoventry.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news...-name_page.html I'm a bit unsure about this info. I know for a fact that Souey is NOT in for it and he is the only person named in the article.

Ricky Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Interesting Nicko. They seem to be right on the brink at the moment. If anything goes slightly wrong or gets delayed it looks like they will go into administration.
LeftWinger Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Colchester fans were singing to Coventry fans on Saturday: "What's that coming over the hill, ten point deduction, ten point deduction" Quality

One thing does not make sense to me - if this 'rescue company' come in why would they pick up the £30 million-plus tab? Surely they would let it go bust first and then pick it up... The ground is owned by the council, I believe, so this is a hot potato locally.

So 30m in debt and they don't even own their own ground?!?! I wouldn't buy them!!
Flopsy Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 30 mill in debt, dont own the ground and dont get any gate reciept money until the crowd is over 24 thousand by all accounts The feeling down here in the midlands is that they're totally ######
modes98 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 One thing does not make sense to me - if this 'rescue company' come in why would they pick up the £30 million-plus tab? Surely they would let it go bust first and then pick it up.. I had the same discussion with a cov fan last night who agreed fully with that arguement. He still expects them to be saved by some stupid investor though. If they went into admin the investors would then be able to spend more on the club once they takeover. dont get any gate reciept money until the crowd is over 24 thousand by all accounts The feeling down here in the midlands is that they're totally ###### That rarely happens. Long overdue but i do feel slightly sorry for cov fans, until they come out with the line that they belong in premiership.....
Ricky Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 If that is the case flops, they havent had any gate receipts at all this season. Their highest attendance was 23k last weekend. That was after they dropped the ticket price to £10 and appealed for all and sundry to attend.
Mozzer Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 i know its only early nicko, but is there any news on who the new spurs manager ramos is thinking about getting rid off etc.. theres a few spurs players who could do a job for blackburn...

I seem to recall them being a very well run club from the days of Jimmy Hill right up until they got relegated
Ronin Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Heard that Ramos was supposed to be after the Sevilla goalie.
Fife Rover Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Here's a hot tip for you Nicko. I hear on the grapevine that Dunfermline Athletic are about to let their manager go.
USRoverME Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Robert Kraft Hardly a player for the future. Not sure what the comment at the end is supposd to mean, but he is well liked in Boston (a town that is hard to get all that much love due to the cut-throat sports media looking to trake anyone down a peg for their own fame), he's been very successful, Pats now, Revs seem to always be one of the best MLS sides. Thant being said, he'll buy into a London club, if he corsses the pond, based on all the noises that have been made.
Flopsy Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Where did it all go so wrong for them? I seem to recall them being a very well run club from the days of Jimmy Hill right up until they got relegated they built a new stadium
Lathund Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Heard that Ramos was supposed to be after the Sevilla goalie. Andres Palop. He's awesome, if for no other reason than having scored an injury-time equalizer in last years UEFA Cup Less importantly, he's also been good the few times I've seen Sevilla play, but that's not the main criteria.

they_think_its_all_rover Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 You mean this manager the BBC are reporting is being backed by the board... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...tic/7068430.stm
Mozzer Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_2835879,00.html this player is the sort of player we should be going after...can play anywhere in midfield, and surely will strength us..
BiggusLaddus Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 You mean this manager the BBC are reporting is being backed by the board... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...tic/7068430.stm If the BBC are saying he's safe, surely he's already on the way to the dole queue??
nicko Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 From what I hear Dunfermline can't afford to sack him...18 months of a contract to run. Unless he quits they are stuck with him. Just watching Coventry on telly. Seems their takeover has hit a snag. I think administration looks a cert sooner rather than later. Incidentally two ex-Rovers right back on show. That doesn't happen often.
EwoodGlory Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Poor Cov' fans must be sick at the moment.
nicko Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Poor Cov' fans must be sick at the moment. The Coventry situation gets more and more complicated... http://iccoventry.icnetwork.co.uk/0300cove...-name_page.html Ranson's involvement suggests his Southampton bid has faltered - as suggested a week ago or so. Why anyone would want to buy a £38 million debt is beyond me.
ffan Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Sanchez to be gone if Fulham lose against Reading....................................Graeme Souness already been interviewed....
Mozzer Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 i know the results havent gone for sanchez but sacking him, he bought lots of players in the summer, it does take time for them to settle...
EwoodGlory Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Why anyone would want to buy a £38 million debt is beyond me. God only knows, does the club have some big assets hidden somewhere? I'm sure the stadium is only leased from the Council, though there was plans for a casino there, which may make some revenue
