budha Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 everton have had a 6million bid accepted for fernandez, we should get in there... Isn't that just for the 50% Benfica owns of him? They'll probably end up paying another £6M for the 50% GSA(or something similar) owns of him.

Mozzer Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 6million for 50% , his full value 12million, so thats 6million to benfica, whose the other 6million to???
John Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Fernandes is part-owned by a third party, the Global Sports Agency. Benfica own only 50% of him.
nicko Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 West Ham are the club bursting blood vessels for Gudjohnsen. The Hammers are over in Barcelona just now, trying to persuade him to take their terms. It's silly money, not what he wants, but the best he is likely to get. Total panic and complete madness...
nicko Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 The Fernandes deal is a bit strange all round. Everton are trying to do it, Benfica want big money - much more than £6 million - but I can't see how the Premier League would let it go by their 'police' without being sure there was no third-party ownership issue. Ironically the Premier stopped this transfer being permanent in January before the Tevez/Mascherano affair. They can't punish somebody for Tevez and Mascherano deals and allow Fernandes in on the same basis. Goos player, but not sure he is worth the fuss.
Rover down South Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Kenwyne Jones going to Derby for £5.5m? Goes to show how prices have inflated this summer. Santa Cruz is an absolute bargain compared to this proposed transfer.
Mozzer Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 roque santa cruz and benni mcarthy-combined fee 5.8million, only 0.8 more then chopra, 1.2million less then nugent..mark hughes is a brilliant bargain buyer.. even if we do get takenover i expect more bargain deals.. kenwayne jones is an average championship striker...
Earlydoors Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 What's all this about Pedersen and Arsenal ? It's not seriously a reality is it ? I thought it was usual agent nonsense but there's a lot around this morning ?
nicko Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 What's all this about Pedersen and Arsenal ? It's not seriously a reality is it ? I thought it was usual agent nonsense but there's a lot around this morning ? I don't like to knock other people's stories. But it strikes me that the same story has gone round and round since last Sunday and somehow made the papers again. I still have to say I have heard nothing about it. That doesn't mean it isn't right. However I find it all hard to believe. I am willing to stand corrected on this later.
LeftWinger Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 roque santa cruz and benni mcarthy-combined fee 5.8million... 1.2million less then nugent Nugent didn't cost 7m. Wasn't he 4.5m rising to 6m? Even so - our strikeforce was a great bargain.
nicko Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Preston are about to sign the young Newcastle striker Andy Carroll on loan - good deal for them. I think the relevance for Rovers is that they are unlikely to take Gally too.
Cocker Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 What's all this about Pedersen and Arsenal ? It's not seriously a reality is it ? I thought it was usual agent nonsense but there's a lot around this morning ? Lets face facts. If it was true he would go for more than being quoted. Also, if it was that little amount (given the prices at the moment and not me just being biast) then Hughes wouldnt let him go. Complete load of plop
roversmum Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Silly season and not much else going on - they have to print some rubbish or other!
Mozzer Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 why cant we just go for flamini without swapping pedersen.. flamini would be a good signing, but not swapping the best left winger in the premierleague for him..
Dunnfc Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport...dersen_move.php let deny a move or bid has been made.
DanLad Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport...dersen_move.php let deny a move or bid has been made. If you take what is written literally it doesn't say that at all. In fact it's soo ambiguous that it could mean anything... LET... One tabloid newspaper claimed Rovers had already rejected a £7 million bid from the Gunners for the Norwegian winger. However, the club insist that is not the case. FINISH... It could mean that Rovers have accepted a £7 million bid... It could mean that the bid was £7.5 mill... Or it could mean, as you said, that they've denied that there has been any bid...
speeeeeeedie Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 West Ham are the club bursting blood vessels for Gudjohnsen. The Hammers are over in Barcelona just now, trying to persuade him to take their terms. It's silly money, not what he wants, but the best he is likely to get. Total panic and complete madness... They need him from what I saw. How can anyone think Bobby Zamora is a premiership player, he has no idea, and was very culpable for City's 2nd. When money is not an issue the wage is meaningless.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Don't worry about it is the best advice. Take advantage of the ignorance. Back Benni for top scorer because he is big odds. Better still get on the Boylesports betting site, back Rovers in the 'without the big four' bet - do it each way, which means they can finish seventh and you win. And rejoice... Sorry for going on about media bias before, it just really p*sses me off! I get it with the Rovers bias... but also get it with Hull... not footballing bias... bias on the actual city! Its like Hull is what Springfield is on the Simpsons! I wouldnt be suprised if Hull marina ever got a toxic infection and the government just put a big glass bowl of the city like in the Simpsons movie! Look at the latest floods!!! Hull was the worst hit... no media coverage really, other than local news and the odd national news like Sky news, but not a great deal... no newspaper coverage. Sheffield got lots of coverage... Hull got none and was hit twice as bad by the floods! then about a week later when the floods are happening down south.... national outcry! front page of every newspaper, BBC news and ITV news, Channel 4 News etc,etc... a crisis is on our hands! I had a lot of respect for Hull City council and MP (Alan Johnston, I think his name is... applied to be the new deputy PM) for sticking to their guns and making it known to people and especially the government just how badly hit Hull was! ...if it wasnt for them and the people of Hull making a fuss about it, I dont think Hull would have got any funding to rebuild. Glad when the news stories titled "Forgotten City" came out... because thats what it is! which is unbelievable! because even though size wise, its not a very big city.... population wise its about the 6th biggest in England. Funny though... as it seems to have been forgotten before... World War 2. Hull was the 2nd most bombed place in the UK after London... and was bombed only slightly less... with it being a lot smaller place, the damage was worse... Hull though, recived NO government funding after the war to rebuild!!! places that were hit nowhere near as bad got loads of money! which is why you see places such as Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle all glamourised shopping worlds that they are today... where-as the people of Hull had to rebuild the city themselves! which is why today its left behind still... with the biggest council estate in Europe, run down, cracked roads all over, victorian docks, all the old factories and all the old victorian pubs are still about in the old town... which to be honest, I see as a good thing... like nowhere else about... but yeah, you get my point... touchy subject = rant
Billy Castell Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Did water and power supplies cut out in Hull? There was no coverage for a while until people from Hull said 'Oi!' very loudly, and they have been whinging ever since, as they_...... has clearly shown. Whenever there is extensive coverage of anything down south, the north whinges about being ignored. I guess its just some sort of complex that you lot have, that those not from up there think you're all whippet owning thickos, and that comforts you in some sort of perverse way. No wonder why you northerners are so hostile to outsiders if your natural instinct is to play the poor minority and assume everyone else thinks they're superior to you. It is boring. We all know every journalist based in London supports Spurs, just deal with it. And Wenger can poke off with his £7m. I'd ask for at least £15m if the likes of Bent is worth £16m. Come on Nicko, give us a clue about these targets. I won't tell anyone.

They'd gone down south on holiday for a couple of weeks n' I nipped to see my girlfriend who was looking after the house for them... and then couldnt get home the next day Shouting "Oi" is what Hull does best, heheh. It's why there is still a big, 1970s style political indie-punk/Ska/Reggae scene in Hull. If your into your music, look out for a future "indie anthem". The Neat's "Whiteboy". Its about how in London whatever they want they get it. If what I hear is true, things could be changing... I do a module at uni called "new media culture" and as well as being a tutor, my tutor also helps to develop Interactive TV and Interactive advertisements and he told us that the BBC is thinking about upping half its base and moving it north to Manchester. ...any chance any newspapers may follow suit Nicko? the north whinges about being ignored? thats because the north does get ignored... you only have to look at what we've been saying about bias towards certain football clubs to see that.

nicko Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 the BBC is thinking about upping half its base and moving it north to Manchester. ...any chance any newspapers may follow suit Nicko? When I was starting out every newspaper had a Manchester office. Now none do. Sadly it's economics and with the newspaper industry in decline it won't get better in a hurry either. What it needs is someone to buck the trend and come up here, which the Daily Star on Sunday did recently, sell a few copies and hope someone else follows. It would be ironic if papers moved out of London, but I don't see it happening too soon.

I swear the queen could die today and tomorrow the headline would be "Channel to visit Posh Spice- Exclusive"
revolutionrock! Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Nicko , whats the latest with Citys owner, i heard on radio a warrant has been granted for his arrest.
nicko Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 I really don't know how this warrant thing works, but it's funny that foreign people who want to get themselves security or a passport buy a Premiership club these days. Thaksin, Abramovich, Gaydamak, even Fayed. The whole thing is too bizarre for words. I suppose the best way to get popular is to spend money on footballers andfind yourself with tens of thousands of allies. If you think too much about football these days your head starts to spin...
