roversmum Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Plunkett by name, Plunkett by nature. I've had words with him (as have others) about the LT Rovers coverage and I must say it has improved of late. Suppose if you want to use artistic license it is exclusive -his article is only in the LT 'morning all

nicko Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Partly because of the quality of sleuthing on these pages...and the fact that it has moved on...I will name the mystery target in the Sunday People tomorrow. It is quite complicated and hopefully the full details will come out. If not they will appear here in the morning. The good news is he is a top player and available, cheaper than you think too which is always a help. The bad news is there is someone else after him. Not being a tease, although I quite like that part, but I can't be giving the game away at this stage. On a cautious note I would say the chances of signing this guy are at best 50-50. Cheers.
USABlue Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Not being a tease, although I quite like that part, Cheers. You devil you
tcj_jones Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Completely forgot to write this last night. Each morning on the way to work I pick up two free local London papers. Both were running the story that Palace were keen on Jason Brown yesterday. Might appear that Nicko was right about that one as well...
Hughesy Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Guily? Tottenham want him Gudjohnsen? Newcastle want him

Let's hope if this player is as big as you say, maybe we'll use our old trick and pull the rabbit out of the hat (i.e. mention the name Mark Hughes )
JAL Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Guily? Tottenham want him Gudjohnsen? Newcastle want him At the beginning of the summer Samba's agent asked me what i thought of Guily, which knowing hes an Evertonian (the agent) i thought he might have been going there anyhow.......come on Nicko spill the beans or do we have to wait until after nine bells tonight to find out.
1864roverite Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Just had a text from my mate in derby and they have announced that Todd signed no fee mentioned.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Never in a million years and Derby knnow full well they'll never survive in this league without him. Where would he play? Doesn't he normally play on the right hand side where Dave operates? plays centre-attacking midfield.... well, its more the "Ronaldinho" type role... sort of free-roaming, in an attacking sense.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 On 606 they seem to think its Santa Cruz we're after, and its Man City that want him too. Apparently a season-long loan with a view to buy for £3mill at the end of it http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A24540428
philipl Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Spurs and Newcastle are scrapping over Giuly who is a winger if I am not mistaken. Hopefully he will move and knock out another potential bid for our two.

Apparently a season-long loan with a view to buy for £3mill at the end of it http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A24540428 Oh God, I go the link and who has his nose stuck in there telling all F'n Vinjay. Surprise was I did not see any mention of the Walkers Oh, who is Santa Cruz, never heard of him this side of the pond.
Alan75 Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Oh, who is Santa Cruz, never heard of him this side of the pond. Signed to keep Jan, Roversmum etc happy. In a 2006 World Cup edition of German magazine Kicker he was voted the sexiest man to be taking part in the tournament. He was also chosen by the German newspaper Die Welt as the sexiest footballer of the 2006 World Cup. He married his former national team and Olimpia teammate Ricardo Tavarelli'..........only joking read on Details Here
they_think_its_all_rover Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Suprised you havnt as he's playing in the Copa America at the mo... plays up-front for Paraguay and Bayern Munich.
HairwayToSteven Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Suprised you havnt as he's playing in the Copa America at the mo... plays up-front for Paraguay and Bayern Munich. His track record isn't good. Though one cannot underestimate the power of the sparkster!
they_think_its_all_rover Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 He scored a hat-trick the other week for Paraguay someone on official boards has said on Skysport text (whatever that is) we've picked up a Bosman...
they_think_its_all_rover Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 You watch... after all this talk of Guily & Santa Cruz e.t.c. it'll end up being someone like Emile Heskey
bluebruce Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 His track record isn't good. Though one cannot underestimate the power of the sparkster! Indeed...29 goals in 143 appearances for Bayern...no thanks.
modes98 Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 someone on official boards has said on Skysport text (whatever that is) we've picked up a Bosman... It is the digital text service on sky sports. Just had a quick flick through and it's one of those ring up or text this number and we'll give you secret information that nobody else knows. £500 a minute and minimum charge of 20mins. Anyway the title is "Rovers Bosman!?" and then something along the lines of 'Rovers move for striker'. edit: This bloke, Nicko?, Kristof Snelders there doesn't seem to be much on him though. A bit like when we got Dwight Wille last season.
nicko Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Save your cash. I think it is the story about a young Belgian lad who could come training from 'partner club' Cercle Brugge.
bluebruce Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Save your cash. I think it is the story about a young Belgian lad who could come training from 'partner club' Cercle Brugge. I doubt it's even that. If it's from fansfc.com, the 'service' that advertises on sky text and used to do on ITV's text too...absolute tosh. They make up a new story every few days, even when the window is shut. They don't even report it when there's something big REALLY going on. They're happy to make things up constantly with absolutely no real rumours. I never rang, but I know they talk pure unadulterated tosh
EwoodGlory Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Nicko do you know anything about us putting a bid in for Bellamy or not. Reports in Liverpool say the fee agreed with West Ham is £7.5m, surely we can afford that?
nicko Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 The cost of Bellamy is ridiculous. There is no point in trying to match it. West Ham are paying £9 million in installments, with a figure around £7 million down and the rest in bits. That would be more than you got for him and a bit daft. However the wages are wild. I heard £75,000-a-week and I think that is right. Over four years that is a further £16 million in salary. If you think what this would do to the payroll at Rovers it is not worth the cash. If Bellamy came on that wage there would be a queue round the block to get pay rises, so the 'cost' would be even more than the £25 million on the player himself. It's common sense to take a back seat on this one.
bluebruce Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I have heard of a very interesting foreign striker being offered to the club but it is too early to mention his name as there are some doubts about who his agent is - and what the cost would be. Ack, dammit, I heard something about someone with question marks over who the agent was recently...can't bloody remember though or I'd have it sussed
tchocky Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 It's common sense to take a back seat on this one. Agreed. And if he did return he would not be the one main star of the club like last time. Probably couldn't handle being second to Benni... Are we after Santa Cruz, Mr. Tease? Wouldn't mind him, but ideally we want someone a bit more proven.
