Very impressive record. However a fee of over €2.5m for a relatively unknown quantity is alot.

Only equates to around £1.3 million and I believe that the key term in there may be "in the past" <_<

I watched Anelka last night against City. While I think our midfield needs are more pressing it would be nice to think we could swap McCarthy for him. Direct, fast, strong with no small amount of skill.

You have to feel for Roberts. He deserves a chance, he may prove to be poor, but he cannot contribute any less than McCarthy does.

I've forgotten the reason Mokoena wants to leave. Can anyone explain?

Paul, I agree, Anelka is a very good player. In fact, I would go as far as to say that he is good enough to play for any club in the world. I doubt he would go to Blackburn as his sights are set on a far bigger club. With City also rumoured, I reckon they'd have the edge over us, in any case.

Lassana Diarra might be a cheaper option than Sidwell.

If Diarra is available, then we should DEFINITELY snoop around. He looks an excellent player, good enough to play in the Arsenal team, but being benched by the continued excellent form of the likes of Flamini, Hleb and Fabregas

NOTW has a story saying Routledge and Huddlestone are leaving in January.

Said before I would like to see us go for Huddlestone, I know its been discussed on here quite a bit.

I've got to say, I haven't seen anything of Huddlestone to suggest he is good enough for anything more than a low-mid-table side. I don't think he's actually good enough for Spurs.

On Benni, he is such an important part of the squad. Roque is an excellent player, but I just don't see him as quite the natural goal scorer McCarthy is. On top of his overall class, Benni has that poachers instinct and deadliness in front of goal. Losing him would be a huge blow. We just have to hope he regains form soon because, right now, we have far too many players under-performing.

For now yes. I'm fairly sure that if Benni and Cruz keeping playing that Benni will be the top scorer come the end of the season, probably with a bit of distance between the two.

How on earth do you come to that conclusion? Have you not seen the two play in the last few games??

I believe it's nearer £1.8m unless the € has crashed to nearly the same conversion rate as to the $ compared to the £. :rover:

Nice star btw Dunny :xmas:

In the absence of the main man, shall we just call this "The Thread"?

Hope he didn't catch his death of cold or belly-splitting laughter at Wigan.

I base it on the fact that Benni is a goalscorer and Cruz isn't . Cruz may have the "better" season, could be the our player of the year, but I still think Benni will score more. What Benni showed last year is that he can score goals regularly and against anyone, he won't have lost that. Over the course of the season he'll continue to chip in with goals, I don't think Cruz will do the same. As I said, I like them both and I think they are both great players, Cruz will end up with many more assists, but I think Benni will end up with more goals. This is only my opinion though, time will tell whether I'm right or wrong.

Has anyone actually had a look on a Burnley message board. I am sure in his final days here he was turning to the dark side.

Any truth in the rumour that he was seen coming out of ann summers with a claret and blue g string :o

Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone's agent has insisted it is not true that his player has been told he has no future at the club. (Daily Telegraph)

No smoke without fire, etc

Spurs are a low mid-table side

I know you have to stand up for your old pal...but the point is Roberts wants out, like I told you to cries of 'red-top tabloid' scorn.

I think you will also find that Keane fancies him as do a couple of others.

You won't find me backsliding - one of your favourite verbs - on the story.

Wrong yet again Alan! Old Lar di Dar Gunner Graham can't do with me as a rule. We are normally daggers drawn over all kinds of things until he inevitably ends up admitting that I was right all along.

Anyway you don't half get all huffy over a leg-pull. Not a good personality trait imo but I suspect a common one in your line of business.

I'm heartbroken. What's happened to my new pal?

Maybe he's on holiday but old AN's not posted since I had to point out his error gunner. Do you reckon he's taken offence? Maybe he's off practising his 'backsliding'..... err whatever that means? ^_^

Alternatively the American 'deal's' finally dead and buried.

Chelsea have agreed a deal for the Argentine youngster Franco Di Santo, ourselves and 9 other Premiership clubs were linked with earlier in the year.

Chelsea have won the race to sign Argentine hot-shot Franco Di Santo.

The Blues have agreed a deal worth $7million (£3.4million) with his club - Chilean outfit Audax Italiano, and the 18-year-old will move when the transfer window opens in January.

Cruz hasn't been a goalscorer in his history. I don't doubt his qualities as a player, but he needs to play alongside a goalscorer.

Another two goals tonight. He really isn't a goalscorer at all, is he?

I know he hasn't hit a lot of goals in his career, I don't know what the reasons are for that, but as far as I'm aware, if you score goals then you are a goalscorewr, and he seems to be one for Rovers.

Class above; but if we continie in this vain, we'll struggle to keep hold of him...

I remember saying when we were first after him that the reason he wasn't scoring was his last team played him as a winger.

Nicko if your reading this, could you shed any light on the rumours surrounding us going for Valeri Domovchiyski, is there any truth behind it at all?
