nicko Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I would take a stab at Steve Coppell. Why? What has he ever done to you? Sorry, couldn't resist.
jim mk2 Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Off to a game now, so this will be the final word...and you know I like a tease. However I believe I know who Newcastle United want. Mike Ashley is a maverick and an oddball and the best manager with similar characteristics is Gordon Strachan. Might tickle his fancy ...
John Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Speaking to someone last night who has met Ashley, said he is a bit of a chav.
EwoodGlory Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Can you get yourself something like an iPhone nicko, so you can still post on the forum when at other games
T4E Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Why? What has he ever done to you? Sorry, couldn't resist. Played for United. Thats enough.
alexanders Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I think it might be Kevin Keegan returning to the mags.
T4E Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Pinocchio just mentioned that on SSN - it would be a very Newcastle-esque move. It would keep them behind us for a few more years, thats for sure.
Plastic Head Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 That doesn't necessarily mean anything, the person in question might have backed him at longer odds a couple of days ago and might be closing the bet off for a guaranteed profit. Gone from 3.25 to 4.5 though Jol being backed
RevidgeBlue Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Current Betfair market - no hot odds on favourite like 'Arry was but Sparky is favourite: Huhes 4.2 Shearer 6 Jol 9 Keegan 14 Redknapp 21 Coppell 26 Mourinho 26 Just a thought, Benitez is reputedly living in fear of the axe at Anfield, would they look at him? ( (Currently a healthy 80 on Betfair)
philipl Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Mirror story saying Hughes is staying by Alan Nixon (never heard of him) Meanwhilst Plunkett tries to flog a few more LT by saying Hughes is favourite for Newcastle job. I don't think Hughes has ever actually been the favourite at the bookies and all the speculation since Redknapp said no has in fact by-passed Hughes in the Newcastle and national media.
Sandiway Blue Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I can`t believe some of the negative sh*te being typed on here. THERE IS NO WAY HUGHES WILL BE GOING TO NEWCASTLE! If you use an ounce of reasoning you would realise that Hughes is nowhere near big enough a name to satisfy the geordie hordes.Although he has made an impressive start to his managerial career,he hasn`t won anything and given our recent 2 month slide down the premiership,he won`t be as attractive a propposition for any other club as he might have been if we were still sitting in the top 5 (notice how the barcodes have been comparing BFS to SVG at city). It`s about time everybody gathered their brain cells together and stop panicking over something that will not happen!
Sandiway Blue Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Off to a game now, so this will be the final word...and you know I like a tease. However I believe I know who Newcastle United want. And it is NOT Mark Hughes. May be able to name him in the morning. Waiting on one call. In the meantime, cheer up FFS. portugeezer?
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 There's more chance of them winning a trophy!
RevidgeBlue Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Meanwhilst Plunkett tries to flog a few more LT by saying Hughes is favourite for Newcastle job. Can't get that link to work. Must say Paul Plunkett has changed his tune somewhat. Yesterday he was saying Hughes would be mad to go to Newcastle. Three seasons ago he was slagging Rovers fans off in the LT saying Newcastle fans wouldn't have minded getting up at 4a.m. in the morning and paying 50 quid for a ticket to an FA Cup semi at noon in Cardiff.
Wiggy Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Betting on the next Newcastle manager has been suspended on Betfair!
Sandiway Blue Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 There's more chance of them winning a trophy! As they say money talks, and this Ashley guy has plenty plenty to spend
Sandiway Blue Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Betting on the next Newcastle manager has been suspended on Betfair! http://sports.betfair.com/Index.do?mi=20775343&ex=1 No it hasn`t.
Wiggy Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 The suspension has been lifted now.....strange....must have been a big bet.
EwoodGlory Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 They suspend it for a minute at a time now and again, must review it and check no dodgy dealing or something.
philipl Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 A bit like that LT article which has been off, on, off within the last minute!
adopted scouser Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Dont Panic Captain Mainwareing It's Mainwaring ......... you stupid boy
Sandiway Blue Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 It's Mainwaring ......... you stupid boy Quality!
philipl Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Mort statement reported on SSN IF Mort, Williama and Hughes are all telling the truth then perhaps Hughes is not even a candidate at this stage. Mort saying he has been speaking to candidates suggests the candidates are either talking with the permission of the clubs involved, not currently in a job or he's tapping up.
