1864roverite Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Yet another knee injury riddled centre forward making his way for big bucks. I wonder if SGE fancies employing a 41yr old ex centre forward with an excellent scoring pedigree in the amateur leagues in Chorley for a slice of the money he is going to pay out for this lad !!

herbergeehh Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Norwegian national newspaper Dagbladet claims Blackburn had a scout present at the game between Fredrikstad and Bodø/Glimt tonight, to watch Norwegian starlet Tarik Elyounussi. Arguably one of the most exciting youngsters over here at the moment, Tarik is a clever little player with pace, balance and trickery - he usually gets 'special treatment' from opposition defenders here.. The local paper Fredrikstad Blad thinks he will cost around 40 million NOK, which is close to 4m pounds with the current exchange rate. Anything on this, Nicko? Exciting 20 year old who's bound to get a call up to the national side soon, but not the finished article yet - a 4m price tag would certainly scare most clubs off him. Arsenal, Schalke 04 and FC Copenhagen are other clubs with scouts present, according to the article.

herbergeehh Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 And if they were there (not unlikely with Rovers' Norwegian connections - they probably do know about him) he IS the player they were watching, no one else comes close to being good enough.

But if either of them played I would imagine they might have been the targets. I think one was a left winger...would need to check. If you have the teams that woud help. Thanks.

Anders Karlsen is the left winger, he wasn't in the squad tonight. Fredrikstad Staw - Ophaug, Gerrbrand, Piiroja, Wallace - Ramberg, Gashi, Wehrman, Barsom - Johansson, Elyounussi. Bench: Mellevold Bråthen, Shabani, Czwartek, Kouadio, Thomassen, Kvisvik, Tegström. Bodø/Glimt Londak - Hamoud, Rønning, Bärengrub, Forko - C. Berg, R.Berg, Bjarnasson - Sørensen, Martins, Olsen. Bench: Kolstad, Jacobsen, Rønning, Råstell, Brenes, Johansen.
American Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Norwegian national newspaper Dagbladet Sounds like a Yosemite Sam cuss word! As for Blanco, I'd see that as a non-starter. His value to MLS is too high, as I saw by the thousands of Blanco shirts in the stands when Chicago played at Salt Lake.

His value to MLS is too high, as I saw by the thousands of Blanco shirts in the stands when Chicago played at Salt Lake. Of course it has nothing to do with the fact that he is already 35.
brian_gallagher85 Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Any thoughts on the SPL being extended, should The Huns reach the Uefa Cup final Nicko?
Hughesy Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Seems like a sensible thing to do. Will give all the others an extra week to get over any injuries too for the final game.
nicko Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 Any thoughts on the SPL being extended, should The Huns reach the Uefa Cup final Nicko? I would it extend it to 16 teams personally... The poor old Hun may have to just grin and bear it this season. No pun intended.
EwoodGlory Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I would it extend it to 16 teams personally... The poor old Hun may have to just grin and bear it this season. No pun intended. So that what put you second in the first division, might need to extend it to 18
nicko Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 So that what put you second in the first division, might need to extend it to 18 It would put us 16th - Gretna won't be about. Did my maths before suggesting that revolutionary change...
EwoodGlory Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 It would put us 16th - Gretna won't be about. Did my maths before suggesting that revolutionary change... So will Gretna go out of business then, or join a new league? Was hoping someone would save them.
nicko Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 So will Gretna go out of business then, or join a new league? Was hoping someone would save them. I heard yesterday that Gretna's most likely home will be Division 3 which is a shame. They might even go entirely. The word is that the TWO teams in the play-off finals will be promoted from Div 2 to Div 1 and from Div 3 to Div 2. Unfortunately there is a feeling that Gretna got above themselves among some of the other clubs and they are ganging up a bit on them.
modes98 Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Unfortunately there is a feeling that Gretna got above themselves among some of the other clubs and they are ganging up a bit on them. I don't think it helped that they had money in a time where every other scottish club is scratching around for pennies in a wishing well. They did amazingly well, shame it came to such a grinding halt.

Karlsen was over for a trial, the other wasn't. (we recently tried to interview them in the Norwegian Supporters Branch for our magazine) Anyway, Elyounussi is the obvious target if there really was someone there (which is likely, they wouldn't make that up, would they?) Tarik Elyounussi, born 1988, plays upfront for Fredrikstad. I'm sure you will let us know if you hear anything
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Off the BBC Gossip page: "Fredrikstad's £4m-rated striker Tarik Elyounoussi is being watched by Tottenham, Blackburn and Wigan after firing his side to the top of the Norwegian league. (Daily Mail)"
nicko Posted April 23, 2008 Author Posted April 23, 2008 The name of Huddersfield's next manager will amuse you...
tony gale's mic Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 The name of Huddersfield's next manager will amuse you... Souness?
rovers_rob Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 The name of Huddersfield's next manager will amuse you... steve cotterill ?
T4E Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Sturrock is at Plymouth. Can't see it being Souness. There was a story this morning about them appointing Martin Allen, don't see that being all that amusing though....
