LDRover Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 This has got to be the strangest day outside a last day of the transfer window I have ever known. Big Sam IS the alternative to Sparky at Man City. He will have told his pals on Sky he is coming home just to put himself in the frame and think City will welcome him with open arms. I do NOT see John Williams allowing him in the building. Along with his backroom staff of millions and his agents. No thanks. This is yet another piece of frenzy...it seems you get your name out there on Sky and hope someone falls for it. For what it's worth, I think the Chelsea Hughes fan club may be making inroads with Roman... Not a fan I take it Alan...you're in good company on here. By the way, whoever said Glenn Hoddle earlier - I'd go with that.

Grabbi Graeme Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Fat sam was hardly a raving success at newcastle was he? so he............failed Everyone fails at Newcastle though
gbax Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Not a fan I take it Alan...you're in good company on here. By the way, whoever said Glenn Hoddle earlier - I'd go with that. Hoddle is too busy 'regenerating' young footballers released as juniors from clubs in the warmth of Spain. Heard an interview with him on TalkSport the other day. He said he wants to concentrate on the young lads!!!
Andy3809 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hughes down to 5.5 on betfair now. Does somebody know something we don't?
LDRover Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Yet you extol the virtues of Steve McClaren who failed to reach a major tournament, not something Hoddle did. Add to that he was sacked for non-footballing reasons. One of the better England managers of recent years in my opinion, and certainly a better bet than McClaren.
Andy3809 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hughes down to 5.5 on betfair now. Does somebody know something we don't?
tony gale's mic Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hughes down to 5.5 on betfair now. Does somebody know something we don't? No...but Sky Sports are reporting something we knew all along thanks to nicko: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11679_3642635,00.html
AggyBlue Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hughes down to 5.5 on betfair now. Does somebody know something we don't? His day at City mustn't have gone too well, hence BFS is on his way. City probably hope to force Hughsies hand, using BFS.
Hi Mack Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I can see this dragging out for a while! Chelsea hold the cards here! This is a massive decision for JW! The new man has to attract players while keeping the current crop happy! Next season could really go either way depending on this decision! Cant believe sparks has gone like this, hes done it soooo wrong!
BuckyRover Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 He is acting like a woman scorned. very strange...
BigNuts Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Zico's odds for city coming in, now 4's. Think Hughes is Chelsea bound.
simcla Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Didn't Nicko give us a hint a few pages ago that it woudn't be BFS or Mclaren a few pages ago with the reference to a "loyalty" bet, which would eliminate both of these as they are without clubs at the minute....
AggyBlue Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Think Hughes is Chelsea bound. Unless Big Phil gives them the nod
Brownie Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Unless Big Phil gives them the nod Hughes now favourite for both jobs !!!!!!!!
Andy3809 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hi guys. Any chance of some urgent betfair advice please? I backed hughes at 11.5. If I now lay at 4.5 does that mean I win the spread in between? Many thanks
tony gale's mic Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Well at least some of us will be much richer - I'll be roughly £500 quid up if he goes to Chelsea. Plus it would be much easier to take. However after this City fiasco I can't applaud him when he comes back to Ewood like I would have done otherwise.
Hi Mack Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Should chelsea be saying they want hughes publicly? We havent agreed anything with them have we? Will Man city not be a little peeved if he uses them as a fall back?
modes98 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 And, by the way, there's only one manager on VCBet I would even consider going for... Please say it's Bilic!
USABlue Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 According to SSN Allardyce has cut short a family holiday to come back to England and McLaren and Jewell are being linked with Rovers Nicko, can you tell me, how much are season tickets over at t'dingles. I'll officially end my standing as a fan of this club for over 40years if Allardyce or McClaren is appointed. Allardyce would be appointed purely as a financial safeguard. The unloading of our best players would begin, to bring in the cash and Allardyce charged with patching a team of low cost mis-fits together for survival. I won't have any of it. I already am suspiscious of the fact that soemthing like this is all part of the "big picture" the the whole episode is motivated by money, I intimated that earlier. Fat Sam please no, not here
USABlue Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Valid question, but we all know Harry is a bit of a drama queen. He made a big decision NOT to go from a small-ish club to a sleeping giant. Mark Hughes flirted with Newcastle - I got slammed for asking direct questions of him at the time by the way - and now wants to talk to Man City. There is a repeating theme here. He WANTS to go. Let him. It makes me howl that there are people jumping on funeral pyres at the thought. Souey took your club out of a coma, won a trophy, got you in Europe twice and there were cheers when he went. Sparky kept it steady and now there is mourning... It's football, accept it. Get a more exciting manager and you end up winning. What do you know that we don't. Has Coyley asked you for directions to Ewood?
grizfoot Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hughes now favourite for Chelski At 4's Went as low as 3s a couple of minutes back, maybe it's just Mr.Abramovic playing around.
USABlue Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 He won't take it. Neither will Strachan...checked. There is one guy I think fits the role exactly. But, forgive me, I will put a 'loyalty' bet on him when the market becomes live and real. Until then I will keep the thought to myself. This guy would be ideal for you in every way. I don't trust a man who doesn't own a Dog nicko.

If you want plain sailing and an easy life go and support Manure or another top 4 side. Supporting teams like Rovers is for real fans who love the club not the individuals. Get a grip!
