tony gale's mic Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Is Hughes looking less and less likely for Chelsea? His price is drifting on Betfair...he could have a very interesting decision to make tomorrow if Chelsea don't decide, as City want their reply tomorrow...

John Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I thought Hughes was intelligent. So he wants to work for the supposed Thai fraudster - remember Hughes banging on about having a good relationship with your chairman etc etc. Maybe I could understand it more if Man City had a rich owner who was not an interfering tw*t.
Florida Rover Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 It's the next series of Lost unfolding before your eyes. odds on jeremy bentham to be our next manager, nicko?
Tom 1 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 He must have thought Chelsea would come for him...they might yet who knows. As a neutral I semi-understand certain parts of it...but were it me in Hughes' shoes I would not for a minute have joined City and left Blackburn for them. He's built a good side with you and would have money once arrogant little Bentley goes off on his merry way. I like Hughes, and I like what he's done at your club...been plenty of twists so far so you never know I guess.
John Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 If he joins Man City, there must be more to it. He will have to start from stratch again. He will have more money but it still takes time to build a good team in the Prem.
Billy Castell Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Re John: Consider this situation...................... Hughes becomes Man Citeh boss, gets them to 4th place in the next few seasons and enhances his reputation. Then, 2 or 3 years down the line Ferguson retires, and Hughes, having turned Citeh into a team that gets into the Champions League and possibly gets to the knockout stages (like Celtic) is a leading candidate for the Old Trafford job. He leaves and doesn't give two hoots about Citeh, as he will be welcomed back to his 'home' club, a move that will put the blue noses out of joint.
John Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 In the next few seasons you would think Spurs and a few others will also think they can break into the top 4 - you are making sound a bit too simple! As soon as they hit a rocky period, the moron city fans will get on Hughes back. Could be quite difficult, especially with a weird owner. As I said, there does not appear to be much stablity at the top there, so who says he will be given any time. Plus is the money they supposedly have got legal?
philipl Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 A lot of things have been said about Sparky's judgement and I called the City move a calculated risk to increase the chances of the big one at Chelski. Calculated doesn't mean stupid- it means carefully weighing up the odds, doing what you can to minimse the downside and maximise the upside and if that means making Citeh and their fans look like a bunch of duped stooges, that is mighty fine by me. JW will undoubtedly have left a door and a route back for Sparky every inch of the way. A chastened Sparky with the right TLC and promising not to look at the neighbours' gardens for a year would not be a bad outcome. However, Hughes is now Chelsea's new boss unless Abramovich suddenly discovers an aversion to male voice choirs. As for that 8-1, Alves played for Boro and I have a sneaking suspicion that Boro will seriously kick the derrieres of any EPL side which doesn't sus Alves out next season.
Backroom DE. Posted June 3, 2008 Backroom Posted June 3, 2008 He doesn't have as much support from the Utd fans as you'd think, and if he goes to Citeh I'm not sure it'll be that easy for him to jump to Utd.
AndyR Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Absolutely crazy market on betfair for the Chelsea job, Ancellotti was odds on earlier today and is now 8.6, Sparky is 9.2, Manchini is now 4.1 favourite from nowhere No one knows is the best summary!
John Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 SSN news says Hughes could be confirmed as Man City manager tonight. Talks taking place in London tonight. 'Sources' close to Hughes have said this and also said no approach has been made from Chelsea.

CircoWill Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 SSN claiming Hughes meeting City chiefs in London this evening and a deal could be announced tonight. I'm sure Nicko mentioned this earlier so Sky are behind again but just wanted to share,.....
Billy Castell Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Put your house on Fatih Terim! Might as well, as the odds are yo-yoing so much.
Sandiway Blue Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I must admit i have never seen a betting market like this one,and i suspect there may be more twists and turns before it finishes.

nicko Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 There is quite sensational news. But because of this leaking problem I won't post on it until 10.30.
den Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 There is quite sensational news. But because of this leaking problem I won't post on it until 10.30. Directly concerning our club?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 You should probably lay a trap and see which sites pick it up. Won't help you find the person but it might help see how widespread it is. Unless the London thing was a trap?
Hasta Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 There is quite sensational news. But because of this leaking problem I won't post on it until 10.30. It's going to be Rijkard. NNoooooooooooooo. If it is I'll be phoning Ocean Finance tomorrow.
EwoodGlory Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 A trap or fake rumour would be a good idea, then see where it ends up getting reported. Odds on that it would be SSN

USRoverME Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 If I were in a locale where betting one such things were legal, I'd be asking for a prop bet on Hughes still being the manger of Rovers at the start of next season, just to see what odds I could get on it.
