jim mk2 Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Well...you can. You could ask for a chairman that will quickly recognise when he's made a mistake and act upon it. Bolton and Wigan were big and brave enough to do it last year. Precisely. And they both escaped relegation with the right man in charge. Williams is either obstinate and strong-willed or weak and indecisive ; the evidence both over his inaction over the Souness problem and the now with Ince point to the latter.

BuckyRover Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 How did it go wrong with Souness? I seem to recall we pocketed a few million pounds compensation by not sacking him. Who knows what JW knew?
Tris Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 PM me if you want to come and speak to Mr Williams face to face. Jim - are you joining us? Waiting for your PM ... Williams is either obstinate and strong-willed or weak and indecisive ; the evidence both over his inaction over the Souness problem and the now with Ince point to the latter. Come on Jim ... don't be shy ...
speeeeeeedie Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 200 plus pages of drivel; it's turned into "Nicko's thread" part IV. Wigan away is where the energy should be concentrated. roverfanuk - is he/she any relation to West Sussex Rover (amongst other names) who was on here a while ago and got found out as a sham. Just a thought.

speeeeeeedie Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Already on "ignore" for being the exact same person ... No surprises there then, it explains a lot. Keep talking sense Tris, you'll get through the wall of noise some time soon.
Amo Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I'd love to sit down with JW and talk about current affairs. I certainly wouldn't be awe-struck and would give him my honest opinion. But I live over 250 miles away, so unless you wanna fly me over...

Just a thought. I tell you what. Im not going to argue... I came on here to talk about the club... That is all... As for my little joke about Keith Andrews and Ireland vs Poland, what a totally over the top reaction?
speeeeeeedie Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Oh right, thats how it is, is it? Don't agree with a users opinion so begin the personal attacks? Didnt think that was allowed on this messageboard...? But hey, if you disagree with someones opinion anything goes apparently..? After skimming though the last 24 hours worth of offerings it struck me that you, and your multitude of one sided postings, could well be West Sussex Rover, who I remember being on here making a right p!llock of themselves onceover, that's all. It has nothing to do with your opinion, plenty on here have the same one.

But i am not this West Sussex Rovers person? Like i have already said, i didnt and dont want to argue with people. I just made a joke? Im here to talk about the club, and footballing matters? What i said last night, you will notice i asked several times if we could just leave it... I have my opinions and i didnt want to go on about it? Now can we please get back on subject/topic?
modes98 Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 No more personal snipes please people. Paul Ince topic, discuss Paul Ince, there should really be enough to discuss.
thenodrog Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 No, not yet. He will have the transfer window to freshen the squad up, bring in players he feels can play the way he wants to play and hopefully rid us of some deadwood. If Santa Cruz and Warnock have to be sold to achieve this, so be it. All is not lost yet. I know what you are saying but selling our best players is hardly the way to get off the bottom of the league is it? A very sad fact of todays BRFC. Those two are A list players, they are both players who would grace teams in the top half of the Prem. Unfortunately our experience is that Paul Ince only signs from the B and C list. His fault or the clubs fault who knows? Fact is that Hughes found A listers out of thin air and as I have said many times we are missing Hughes the scout even more than Hughes the manager. My suggestion to include Hughes in a controlled commision / bonus scheme to reward his success in the transfer market might not be so daft as some made out now especially when taken in the context of our current and increasingly likely future situation. Sadly it's all spilt milk now.
Alan75 Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 No more personal snipes please people. Paul Ince topic, discuss Paul Ince, there should really be enough to discuss. Isnt that a contradiction in terms. The topic appears to be a forum for having a personal snipe at Paul Ince John Williams Andrews Fowler etc etc
thenodrog Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 he has stuck by his principles and you can't ask more of a chairman. Sticking by principles / stubbornly refusing to admit to making a mistake? Which? Personally I think JW has recently found out that any manager of quality will not touch us with a barge pole when they are informed of the 'package' on offer.
thenodrog Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 How did it go wrong with Souness? I seem to recall we pocketed a few million pounds compensation by not sacking him. Who knows what JW knew? I stress it's only my own opinion and without a shred of evidence but some of the Souness dealings left a very bad smell imo. The likes of Grabbi, Baggio and the whole Ferguson / Amoruso / Viola / Murray scam for starters.
modes98 Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Sticking by principles / stubbornly refusing to admit to making a mistake? Which? I agree it's a fine line but I think JW is good enough at his job to know when to give up on an issue. I think the line would be crossed if Ince lost the next couple and then JW continued to back Ince.

I think the line would be crossed if Ince lost the next couple and then JW continued to back Ince. Where will we be then though Modes? 13 points off 18 games and probably 7-8 points off safety. At that point we might as well stick with Ince - we'll be nigh on dead and buried.
Ste B Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Sticking by principles / stubbornly refusing to admit to making a mistake? Thats you that is.
modes98 Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Where will we be then though Modes? 13 points off 18 games and probably 7-8 points off safety. At that point we might as well stick with Ince - we'll be nigh on dead and buried. I'm talking about the line at which JW can give his support to Ince without making a decision that should see him out of a job. Personally Ince should have gone, and this game or 2 extra could cost us our place in the league, but JW is just standing by his decision, not stubbornly, just standing by it until he feels it has gone far enough.
RovertheHill Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 If Santa Cruz and Warnock have to be sold to achieve this, so be it. Have we learned nothing about selling our best players and replacing them with more of lesser quality? There is only one way that will take us and it's the opposite of up...
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I think its pretty clear if we don't pick up points over this December/Christmas fixture period and at the same time some sides start to pull away from the bottom then we are dead and buried. If we get to that stage i can't see a new manager turning it around...
Amo Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I'd rather we went down having done everything possible than just accepted our fate with Ince still at the helm.
47er Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Come on Jim ... don't be shy ... Somebody go along with him please, otherwise Williams will believe the fans think everything's OK.
