RibbleValleyRover Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Stroke Boy spoken to JW, said Roque is going nowhere and it wasn't about the money, more about the replacement. Stroke boy also reckons the player was Caicedo not Sturridge.

Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 We were possibly setting up a deal for Felipe Caicedo but didn't go through.
herbergeehh Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Well, according to SSN the problem with the Santa Cruz to City deal is different valuation of FILIPE CAICEDO... Yeah right!
imy9 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If we do not sign a right sided player/ midfield player then the board need firing. Once again the board has let us down, how can there not be money to spend? We have received more money this season than in any other season, we have actually spent about £8 million since the summer and received £15 million for Bentley, even taking into account Arsenals sell on clause we have not spent a PENNY, Hull City, Stoke City etc have spent more. It is a joke, very depressing to be a Rovers fan at the moment, lets hope the squad stays fit as we have no depth.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Is there a chance that the weather could enable us to get the Egyptian in on loan if the deal is set up before the deal in the next 6 minutes?
sparky12 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Haha who saw SSN showing stroke boys phones!!
philipl Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Well, according to SSN the problem with the Santa Cruz to City deal is different valuation of FILIPE CAICEDO... Yeah right! Sturridge was definitely in the mix if they were talking City players.
Hughesy Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If we have turned down £25m then we are very stupid. £25m + Caciedo on loan would of been too goo a deal to turn down. Im sorry but no way on this earth is Roque worth £25m, never ever! Just like Bentley wasnt worth what we got for him.
American Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 yes santa have not scored so much this year, but remember we had ince at the helm for half the season and on top of that santa was injured for a while. we didnt win a match from september to late december, and since then santa have only played a couple of games. how can he score 20 a season with a team that dont win matches for 2-3 months? we were not losing 0-1 either. we lost 0-3 to wigan. it tells you that we were abslolutely crap. now santa IS a quality striker, but he need the ball to get into the oppositons half more than 3 times per game. sorry im just worried we lose santa and not get anyone better in. i dont care for the money one bit. Never heard the logic that players don't score because we are losing. Have heard the logic that we are losing because we aren't scoring. Am happy to see us keeping him only because we don't have a replacement. 31 in 155 for Bayern. This whole thing went on too long and last week was when our chances of getting a decent replacement (that everyone liked) were reasonable.
Oklahoma Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Sporting Clube de Portugal, Veloso's club, announced that they didn't reach any deal with Bolton. Bolton made two offers: 1- immediate transfer for €10 million with 10% of a future transfer; 2- €1.5million for a six month loan with a €10 million buy option. SCP refused both and, even though there was more negotiation between the clubs, Bolton decided not to make a improved offer.
roversmad95 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 16.52: Well with eight minutes to go the Roque Santa Cruz deal is dead. It has been very quiet on that particular transfer today and with no time left to find a replacement Blackburn Rovers are unwilling to sell the striker to Manchester City. from soccernet..
PAFELL Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If we do not sign a right sided player/ midfield player then the board need firing. It is a joke, very depressing to be a Rovers fan at the moment, lets hope the squad stays fit as we have no depth. Depends onnthe formation Sam plays. He has hinted that he would be willing to play all three strikers at the same time. That could, if need be, mean that RSC can play on the right wing, so can Diouf.
philipl Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If we have turned down £25m then we are very stupid. £25m + Caciedo on loan would of been too goo a deal to turn down. Im sorry but no way on this earth is Roque worth £25m, never ever! Just like Bentley wasnt worth what we got for him. The City official line is that they made no bid after last Friday. So it appears this was all an SSN stunt. So the only stupid ones were those betting on RSC leaving as things look at the moment. Of course jim might have the last laugh and Sturridge and Caicedo show up at Ewood tomorrow.... but what do you reckon? PS there was no Caicedo loan that even SSN made up.
dj54nna Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If we have turned down £25m then we are very stupid. £25m + Caciedo on loan would of been too goo a deal to turn down. Im sorry but no way on this earth is Roque worth £25m, never ever! Just like Bentley wasnt worth what we got for him. £25m with an hour and a half to spend it? And a striker that they don't want? Fair enough the value is a bit silly, but what's the money worth if we can't bring in a decent striker? I'm worried we've not sorted out a fresh midfielder. A scrappy game on Wednesday coming up, Spit is cup-tied, Andrews looks unlikely because of the holes in his leg and Bert is buggered for the season. Looks like Judge might end up being recalled at this rate.
hawkiiz Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Never heard the logic that players don't score because we are losing. Have heard the logic that we are losing because we aren't scoring. if you should be winning and have bad strikers, you draw 0-0. if you have the best striker in the world, but the rest of your team is playing like they dont know each other you lose by 3-0 to wigan and what? 4-1 to west ham... etc...
PAFELL Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If we have turned down £25m then we are very stupid. £25m + Caciedo on loan would of been too goo a deal to turn down. Im sorry but no way on this earth is Roque worth £25m, never ever! Just like Bentley wasnt worth what we got for him. It sounds like it was the Caciedo part of the deal that fell down, not the £25mill. If Rovers could have got a replacement then a different story. Personally I believe the who £25 mill story was nothing but a wild stunt by SSN and stroke boy - if the prem get their wish this could be the last January transfer window - no more stroke boy.
Backroom Tom Posted February 2, 2009 Backroom Posted February 2, 2009 At least we stood our ground but what a dull deadline day for us AGAIN. I long for one where we pull a deal off these days.
nicko Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Was that Revenge of the Stroke Boy or what? Possibly the most ludicrous episode in his life...and that has some competition. Checked with the Sturridge camp who were NEVER approached. Garbage. Laughing. Rovers asked for Sturridge weeks ago and Man City would not deal. The player did not want to go. Rovers DID NOT have a replacement after Crouch was scrubbed off the list. So it could never have gone through at that kind of notice.
roversmad95 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 nicko, has the tardis landed back yet? (from egypt) m jonhson failed medical for the bar codes...
American Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 if you should be winning and have bad strikers, you draw 0-0. if you have the best striker in the world, but the rest of your team is playing like they dont know each other you lose by 3-0 to wigan and what? 4-1 to west ham... etc... No, you lose 3-2 and 4-3. You don't get 0 and 1 goal against those clubs. Again, ONE good season in his life for Roque, despite playing in a lesser league. Was that Revenge of the Stroke Boy or what? Possibly the most ludicrous episode in his life...and that has some competition. Checked with the Sturridge camp who were NEVER approached. Garbage. Laughing. Rovers asked for Sturridge weeks ago and Man City would not deal. The player did not want to go. Rovers DID NOT have a replacement after Crouch was scrubbed off the list. So it could never have gone through at that kind of notice. He actually never said Sturridge. I'm betting that if 8 months from now Roque signs, he won't be bragging that he broke the story months before.
nicko Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 11 'o clocker tonight Nicko? I don't know why, but that made me laugh... Will try to sift through the wreckage. Funny line for the Burnley haters. The Setanta cameras can't make it to cover the West Brom game live... Honest. I'm betting that if 8 months from now Roque signs, he won't be bragging that he broke the story months before. Good that Roque stays...but Rovers will NEVER see £20 million for him again. That's the way it goes.
Ewood and I Would Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Was that Revenge of the Stroke Boy or what? Possibly the most ludicrous episode in his life...and that has some competition. Tut tut, but it was Caicedo that Andy Burton mentioned not Sturridge anyway.
herbergeehh Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 So, Robbie "lifelong Liverpool fan" Keane back "home" in London. What a bunch of clowns. A bunch of Ewood and I would's. Did we try for anyone at all in the last minute, Nicko? Do you have any idea how much money we have to spend with Roque staying? Incidentally, the lack of signings is a lifeline for Carlos Villanueva, surely?
