I have the name and will let it out later [after the games tonight]...but the reason why is still a puzzle.

Is he any good, in your opinion? Or is he more of an unknown quantity?

nicko, has any club looked at McGeady of Celtic? He was impressive last night.

A lot have looked but nobody bid...good player but maybe over-priced.

This guy has an ok CV and people who have seen him say he has pace...I would think he has Premier League potential, but the only way he could be signed is if someone else was going...so that is the part of the puzzle still unanswered.

There's no harm in looking at the fella, I believe this move only really started rolling at the weekend, so what intrigues me is why this has kicked off.

Interesting theories earlier about Givet going to left back, that is possible. To pay for this guy would surely mean a sale.

A bit shocked at all of the recent activity considering Sam said Salgado would be his 'last' piece of business.

Far from it, by the sounds.

I would like to think that Zurab is off and Mr. DC is being brought in for cover, but I fear it might mean that Warnock is off and Givet is to replace him at left back

Forgive me for not being born "back in't day", but I assume by "centre half" you mean RB/LB and not centre back?

I've heard the term centre half a million times but at this particular moment I'm trying to remember if it is just the name for RB/LBs collectively or an old fashioned term for centre backs...?

It's the "half" bit that has thrown me. I usually know this but I'm still confused. Must be this sunlight.

Ignore the word half completely. Then try again.

nicko, what league does this centre half play in, and would he be a squad player maybe beacuse zurab is being shipped out, or more likley go straight into the team

Well done Sam for bringing in Salgado!

If Warnock is sold, surely the central defender will only be brought in to get enough bodies in there - the money will be spent elsewhere??

Zurab must be kept as we dont have enough center backs.

I think were pretty much okay with defenders for this season without Zurab.

Lars Jacobsen, Stephen Warnock, Christopher Samba (CB), Gaël Givet (CB), Ryan Nelsen (CB), Brett Emerton (has played CB for Australia), Martin Olsson and Salgado (can play CB) if he comes.

We also have several defenders who could be ready to be introduced into the first team in cups comps in Johnny Flynn, Gavin Gunning (CB) and Phil Jones (my tip for big things goes to Jones).

Even the 'big four' are weaker this time round...only Man City and Sunderland have genuinely improved by spending.

I think we have immensely improved in quantity and quality since last season. The only player of notice we have lost this summer has been Roque and we have replaced him well. Derbs was never going to cut it. Tugay didn't have the best of terms last time and Mokoena is Mokoena. We have also replaced Ooijer with someone of quality for free.

Wouldn't you say our squad is stronger then last seasons, especially with players returning from injury?

Also the mystery defender...? Renato Civelli... Free transfer?

NICKO: There's a fee involved for the defender? IF Warnock leaves, we'd probably get around 7,5 m - surely the only reason for doing so would be to bring in a midfielder, not balance the books?

Oh yes. Quality signing. I watched him at Real, and although he isnt the player he was, he hasnt looked out of place for them to do a job. For us, without exagerrating, he should be an excellent signing, who will only improve the starting line-up whereever he plays.

What does he say on his Rovers World interview?

He's spent a summer in Margate, and has a sister-in-law from York. He's always had a dream of playing in the Premier League, and think's he can add something new to the team. He's looking forward to the atmosphere, to hear people shouting.

Think we are heading for a reality check all round soon.

I would say Spurs are stronger too. Hull are also trying to push up a bit but have (so far) failed. But otherwise I agree.

I expected much more activity from Villa, Everton and the top four.

Good news for us.

He also hasn't been replaced - as Di Santo is only a loan with no option to buy.

I'm sorry, don't we have Paul Gallagher, Nikola Kalinić and David Hoilett?
