Hughesy Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 How would Banjoni be on less wages than Roberts coming from Citeh? Unless he agrees to a big drop of course. He's without a club...their are concerns on his knees...he has been a free agent for a good few weeks now....his fitness will be behind the rest - many reasons.
daveoftherovers Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I heard Bellamy's little rant earlier, rather than pack in Bellers, what about putting some charity work in? Back at our place where you should have stayed (Perhaps?)
DeadlyDirk Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I unfortunately found out Roberts wages recently and it's not pretty! Also probably explains why we are trying to offload him despite a striker shortage and why he hasn't moved yet.
BrownieFC Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 How would Banjoni be on less wages than Roberts coming from Citeh? Unless he agrees to a big drop of course. If rovers are the only Prem club willing to pay him he will have to take less money. And with the passport thing im guessing he wants to stay in England and we can offer as much as a Championship club.
Ricky Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Banjo in on a free transfer and pay as you play deal. Gotta be the only way we could consider it.
RoyRover Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 What if the money was then spent on a quality midfielder? What quality midfielder is going to be signed for £2.5 million? I would love it if we signed Senijad Ibričić, but at £4 million it's a non-starter.
JAL Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Roberts out for £750k > Benjani in for free Another Main striker in Id be happy with that.....Surely Benjani would be on less than Roberts in wages too. Hughesy dont talk out of your derrier please.
JAL Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 100% Benjani was at Brockhall today just heard it off one of the academy players. Not fair to name which one If true what a disgrace, English club manager hires unfit elderly Johnny foreigner. This would most definitely be on a par with the Robbie Fowler signing.
roversfan99 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 When we signed Fowler we already had Derbyshire, Santa Cruz, McCarthy and Roberts and he only came in on a 3 month pay as you play deal i think, and he may have helped the younger players. So we wernt desperate back then, but Benjani is a desperate signing.
Amo Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Sell one striker who can't score for toffee and replace him with another striker who can't score for toffee AND has wonky knees? Superb business acumen there! Why do we look at PL has-beens? We could pick a kid up from the continent who'd give us more than Benjani.
LeChuck Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 What quality midfielder is going to be signed for £2.5 million? I would love it if we signed Senijad Ibričić, but at £4 million it's a non-starter. I was thinking that Benjani will mean Roberts will leave, they're very similar. Using the fee for Roberts should put us near £4 million. To be honest, even at £2.5 million it shouldn't be hard to improve our midfield options!
andyroversmad Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I would rather we stick with Roberts, Kalinic and Diouf than get Benjani. Complete waste of wages and he is absolute @#/? !
Balwer Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 To be honest, even at £2.5 million it shouldn't be hard to improve our midfield options! Perhaps you should post them in a suggestions box outside Sam's office.
Ricky Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 The only thing I keep thinking back to is the performance he put in when we played away at city last season. He won everything up front and set up 2 or 3 goals.

roversam Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Benjani played well when we got spanked at the council house earlier this year
Will Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 For me Benjani in and Roberts out is an improvement. Admit it, Roberts has done nothing much of any note for us. Benjani, can finish, there is no doubt in that. Roberts has got to be one of the worst forwards i have seen in blue & white.

I'm glad you're not in the charge.
unclejack28 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 the problem is roberts has been available and hasn't left yet even if we get benjani what makes you so sure we will be able to get rid of roberts, then we are stuck!
67splitscreen Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Liam Lawrence again being linked with a move north of the border, earlier in the summer it was reported the fee was 2m. He's certainly better than at least one of our leading starters in MF last season.

mogster Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Benjani is better at one on one's than Roberts!!! I haven't got any evidence to back that up other than my assumption, because I think that my Mum would be better at one on one's than Roberts.
duffbear Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I have just been speaking to one of the academy lads as well and confirmed Benjani was at Brockhall today He also said he was doing a fitness test indoors sorry guys
