Fife Rover Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Is that a joke? The lad has done NOTHING on a football pitch for the last 3 year. He's a big time p!ss head and has ballooned in weight. Jim Royle - I agree - Although id try & keep Miram Bame diouf too Funny that Hughesey. I can't remember you ever saying anything similar about Dunn, even though the very same description applies.

LeChuck Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 No, it was to tie Blackman down in order that Rovers can get a better price for when they sell him, rather than have him leave on a free. Why would Blackman agree to that? He'd get more money himself if he moved on a Bosman. He must believe that he has a chance of being here long term, otherwise it makes no sense for him to sign anything.

That's why they are where they are.
Hughesy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Funny that Hughesey. I can't remember you ever saying anything similar about Dunn, even though the very same description applies. I haven't said that about Dunny because we already have him. I'm well aware of his lifestyle - I'd happily sell him IF there was a replacement, but perhaps in summer would be best.
Valois Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 No that its relevant to the transfer thread, I dont believe its Rovers Modus Operandi, to keep a young player tied to the club, when they feel he has no future here for the sake of making a quick buck. Perfect example is Alex morrow at Palace, was allowed to leave for a fairly low fee, but he clearly had no hope of breaking into the first team here. I'm pretty sure the backroom staff feel Blackman has potential to make an impact at Rovers, I just hope he is given a chance to prove himself, rahter than left to rot in the reserves http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/864603/houllier-confident-over-deal-for-L6m-makoun?cc=3888 Lets hijack this! Top player, exactly what we need in midfield, would have him in a heart beat. If we were to seel Samba, I would sell him to Lyon for cash plus Makoun.
gumboots Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I've given up hope of any marquee signings, to be honest I'd like somebody to plug the gapping hole we have in central midfield be it loan or permanent and not to sell anybody. Hopefully we can get somebody in to plug the gap before the Chelsea game, I'm sick of the PR crap about all our supposed big signings, if you have or haven't got the funds just get us what we need to secure survival. Perhaps we should just give up and actually sign the marquee, put it up on the pitch and see if it's better than our current midfield.

I think he will just be happy to count his cash...and see what comes along. So it works that way. Somebody must think there is a £250,000 deal in him down the line.

He thinks hes here for the long term by getting a pay rise and an extension to his contract, Rovers buy themselves some time with the player to get a better price, everyones a winner.
Bobby G Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 nicko, is Roque a done deal, alongside Rochina? Whispers...
S15 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 nicko, is Roque a done deal, alongside Rochina? Whispers... Your information is often wrong so I wouldn't bank on it.
Valois Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 From what I have read RSC favoured move is to Rovers, as doesnt want to up root his family, and enjoyed his time at Rovers. Not sure he is what we need, but if its on loan, with a view to a perm deal if it goesok, maybe worth a punt. Nicko do you know who Rochina's agent is? Not immplying he is a Kentaro/SEM client, just wondering out of interest. Good to see SSN have still got all the camera crew camped outside Spuds training ground, not even been to Rovers yet in regards to Jensen.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Just to put my two pennorth in for what it's worth as someone who has lived Scotland for 31 years and been a regular watcher at several clubs, but mostly Dunfermline (home and away). Yes the standard overall of the SPL is lower than that of the EPL....no dispute about that. But having said that it is not all that much worse, and it certainly does NOT mean that many of the Scottish clubs cannot or do not play very entertaining football, and with no lack of skill either. I watched Dunfermline recently and was very impressed with the entertainment on show. I found myself looking at fast raiding wingers and sweeping passing movements plus goals with excellent finishing. The only thing that I could fault them for was crap defending and giving silly goals away. All this when at that time I was watching a Rovers team under Big Sam, and the difference really showed. And DAFC are currently only in the Scottish First Div (but topping it). Also forgive me for saying this but there is absolutely no doubt that the average English fan who has never been exposed to Scottish football for any extended period tends to have a completely distorted and wrong view of the Scottish standard of football. And before anybody gets over excited about that assertion, let me say right away that I was as guilty of it as anyone before I came up here. And to give you an illustration:- Way back in the 70's I was a season ticket holder at Rovers when the Anglo-Scottish Cup was first introduced. In the first game of this competition Rovers were drawn at home to Motherwell. Now at the time Rovers were a 3rd Div side and Motherwell were a Scottish 1st Div side. I along with just about all my friends and relations that were Rovers fans too were ALL in agreement that this was a virtual walkover for Rovers (it's only a Scottish side ha ha ha!) But when the two legged match was played the reality was somewhat different. And so it proved to be on a number of subsequent occasions against other Scottish clubs in that same competition in other years whilst it lasted. So for all those with either convenient memories, or who were not around at the time; things are not always as you like to fondly imagine them. Show a little respect please. Fife - I think you took my remark out of context. I was supporting the poster re-Blackman who was defending Blackman as another poster had remarked that scoring in the SPL was easy. If you actually read it - a player not good enough for SPL - is good enough for EPL - surely that is a compliment to SPL ?

Steve Moss Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Derbyshire is sh!te and championship standard…... This is completely unfair. Per wiki, Derbyshire has played 63 times for the Rovers and 6 for Birmingham. That means at least 3-4 PL managers thought he had what it takes as a PL striker. I'm pretty sure the backroom staff feel Blackman has potential to make an impact at Rovers, I just hope he is given a chance to prove himself, rahter than left to rot in the reserves Agreed. I don't get the Rovers ripping on Blackman. He's a young man who scored 10 in 16 in the SPL. That compares very favorably, adjusting for age and inexperience, to Robbie Keane's 12 in 16 in the same league at the same time. Are we now of the opinion that Robbie Keane is not good enough? And while the SPL may not be to the level of the EPL, it is not rock bottom. It's a very respectable league and a good indication that Blackman has a bright future.
nicko Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 nicko, is Roque a done deal, alongside Rochina? Whispers... Both are targets. Both want to come. Rochina is straightforward from what I hear. Roque is still a debate with Man City. There might be a 12 o'clocker [note time].
S15 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 There might be a 12 o'clocker [note time]. A Dutch 12 o'clocker?

blue/white Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Are you disrespecting the entire Argentinian nation? I'm Argentine and I don't read it that way. Maradona is a sick man like Georgie Best or Gazza were/is. If I call out either one of those guys are you offended as a Brit? Now if 47er had said, 'those argie coke snorting, so so s' --- (which I have read here before) then I'd be annoyed because it 's off on a complete tangent from the original point of Rovers and their future boss- aside from slagging off an entire nation for some unimportant crap.
Valois Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php/topic/24044-roque-santa-cruz-return-done-deal/ Nicko do you concur?
Sysagent Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Nicko do you concur? I sense he is onto his contacts right now to establish the facts...
nicko Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Nicko do you concur? Only when it is done. And, as we speak, it is not done. However Man City appear to be coming to their senses over a full-time move...so a paid-in-full wages loan is now likely. I don't get this one. But there we go.
Hughesy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Wonder if Nicko & some rovers officials will be at Blackpool later?! lol
