booth Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 There's a big difference though TBF. Arsenal drawing at home with us is like us drawing at home to a mid table Championship team and can't be compared with us comfortably beating a Premier League team. Yes but still, to boo Arsenal and for some fans to call for Wenger's head is insanity. A better example is that after Blackpool got a poor result earlier in the season (can't remember which), some Blackpool fans were on the radio slating Holloway and saying if they continued to leak goals it was time for him to move on. Madness!

JAL Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 'idiots' is too mild a description. Talk about turkeys voting for Christmas! It absolutely beggars belief what they possess between their ears! The more I think about that particular exhibition the more I believe the citizens of Blackburn do not deserve a team in the top division. One fan booing amongst a still and silent crowd can be a pretty powerful thing thenodrog, yes we might not agree with this person but the people of the town overall, respect and understand the need for Rovers to remain a premier league football club even the ones who's allegiance is to support another club. The key for us all must be to not fall still and silent.
Mattyblue Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Any born and bred Blackburnian that has 'allegiance to another club' are beyond contempt.
jim mk2 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Agree absolutely. I know Blackburn people who are dyed-in-the-wool United supporters. I give them my "thoughts" every time they have the misfortune to cross my path.
Gav Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Agree absolutely. I know Blackburn people who are dyed-in-the-wool United supporters. I give them my "thoughts" every time they have the misfortune to cross my path. With the club making great strides over the past 20yrs you'd hope the next generation will mainly be Rovers fans. Driving past the recreation ground at Feniscowles 20yrs ago you'd see no Rovers shirts, you drive past when the kids are training now and its all Rovers shirts. Thats my gauge anyway
Mattyblue Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Oh I agree Gav, but there are still lads in their 20s- of all backgrounds wearing plastic shirts. All they have ever known is a successful BRFC, the mind boggles!
roverwhelmed Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 IMO they wouldn't have made that call if there wasn't a fairly vocal minority at our club who were still anti-Sam despite everything he'd done. Like those idiots who booed us when we were 3-0 up against Wolves. Why did they boo? I mean, what happened that they booed?
Mattyblue Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 We were passing the ball about in midfield insteadof pouring forward. I know, booing passing, thought that was reserved for the 'hoofball'...
ben_the_beast Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Why did they boo? I mean, what happened that they booed? If my memory serves me correctly it was due to the fact Wolves had pushed almost everyone forwards. The ball came out to Mame Diouf on the counter attack. Rovers attackers were actually outnumbering the Wolves defenders and instead of trying to score Diouf simply cantered almost at a walking pace with no interest of trying to score a fourth. I don't remember the booing be constant or at the final whistle, but just in that one instance. P.s this is not a condoning what did or didn't happen but just my recollection.
Mr. E Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Ronaldhino must be crying sorry tears in Brazil right now that he declined to be part of our galacticos.
LLOYDY Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Ronaldhino must be crying sorry tears in Brazil right now that he declined to be part of our galacticos. How many points have we now dropped under this so called manager? A manager would not hold a grudge with his best forward who is the only one who can score he would get it sorted and get him back in the team.. why is Nicko not playing!!!!!

That is exactly what happened. I didn't boo, but I remember wondering what the bloody hell was going on. It got passed right back to Robinson didn't it, from us being in a decent scoring position. Although I think the collective gasp of confusion, combined with a small amount of boo'ing made it sound worse than what it was.
Daremz Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 I just completed the Premier League predictor at the BBC-site and we are going down, if my predo's are right. But they aren't. 39 points won't be enough. One thing is for sure: If we win at home against Bolton, and don't lose at West Ham, we still have a chance. Wigan and Wolves are certain exits for me, it's about the 3rd spot...West Ham, Blackpool or us...

At the beginning of the season I really wanted Blackpool to stay up, although obviously I don't give a monkeys who goes down now as long as it isn't us.
Steve Moss Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 At the beginning of the season I really wanted Blackpool to stay up, although obviously I don't give a monkeys who goes down now as long as it isn't us. Exactly my thinking.
Iceman Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 we seriously cannot just target Bolton, that would be asking for trouble. We had opportunities against Brum, and Blackpool(forget the poor decisions), to pull away, and we messed it up. We have become complacent against teams, which under Sam we would have collected 3 points.
Guest BRs4LIFE Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 The Venkys owners bought the football club to launch thier business profile. With millions of pounds to dispose of and the clever connections of messrs Jerome Anderson (SEM) its obvious that they are business people, and hugely successful at that exploiting the "naivity" of the Indian business owners-falsely roped into buying the club as a way of enhancing their reputation by the Jerome Anderson team. Its Jerome Anderson that needs to be got rid, only the Anderson team can be sacked and replaced, in time, if this happens then BRs will flourish back to where they were pre Kean. Its clear for all to see that Jerome Anderson has run the club to its fall, draining all he could out of the owners for what he could get, a £1500 per week salary (if that) his 20 yr old son Myles Anderson is currently on (that cant even break into the first team at Aberdeen) and yet to stand to earn anything from £5k - £20k per week next season regardless whether the BRs survive relegation. Thats criminal in itself, whats next? well to be honest Jerome Anderson has made all he probably can. Do we need to keep on at the Venky owners here or really understand that football at the top flight is a business and when handed into the wrong hands, there will always be catastrophic results. There is talk about new management taking over but will the Venky sell if BR is relegated? is the real question as they stand to lose an estimated £100 million which includes ticket sales, merchandise and TV sponsorship etc. The media in India are very complimentary of the Venkys investment in BRs (if only they knew the truth) but then again you can buy the media over there! Rumour has it that a British born Indian that has footballing experience and dealings with professionals at both player and manager level (PremierLeague) is in discussion with the owners and has the passion to spearhead a revival like no other. What gain would that have?
thenodrog Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Went to a 50th birthday clebration last neet and spoke to lots of people that I have not seen for some time. Needless to say BRFC was the main topic of conversation. I've got to say talks cheap but the amount of people who are not renewing their ST's whatever division we end up in was astounding. I spoke to just one stalwart who will be renewing whatever happens. My views that other than the blue and white halves there is nothing at Ewood that I can readily associate with anymore and that I'm actually glad when I wake up on a Sat morning and realise the Rovers are away was shared by many. Not a good omen.
Mattyblue Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Get ready for the happy clappy 'not real fans' avalanche gord...
imy9 Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 We're in a recession, people are losing jobs or having to sustain pay cuts with the price of things like fuel going up, I would guess this may have a lot to do with non renewal of season tickets.
Mattyblue Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Aye ok imy, I have talked to fans that haven't missed a game at Ewood in 40 years and found the money to go to a dozen away games- cost is not an issue, bit seeing their club treated with outrageous disrespect has. I fear that this summer could be an absolute horror show for ST sales
