Hughesy Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Also not sure on wickham, hardly set the world alight and for £12m which it would cost you, we could go & get proven experience.

Gav Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Thank goodness the Adebayor thing has been dropped. We do not need another prima donna with a dodgy attitude. Bunkum Jim, the guy scores goals, thats what we need, won't happen though.
Taggart Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Thank goodness the Adebayor thing has been dropped. We do not need another prima donna with a dodgy attitude. I agree, we already have one of those prima donna`s with dodgy attitudes in yourself, one is enough Would be happy to see our club going for Gyan TBH
Bobby G Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 We can get quality strikers on the Continent with up to 10 million Euros. Why should we pay more than that in Pounds even, for someone with raw potential? Its crazy.
Sparky Marky Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I've always liked Jimmy Kebe at Reading...and you'd get him for nowt-ish.
jim mk2 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Bunkum Jim, the guy scores goals, thats what we need, won't happen though. Scores goals but is unlikely to come in the first place, wouldn't stay 5 mins and would be a load of hassle while he was here. Bunkum indeed.
gumboots Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Scores goals but is unlikely to come in the first place, wouldn't stay 5 mins and would be a load of hassle while he was here. Bunkum indeed. I'm not a huge Adebayor fan myself but we've had prima donnas here before and we've coped. You can forgive a lot if they are scoring goals.
LeChuck Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Official Premier League free transfer list. We could really improve our squad without spending money on transfer fees having looked at that list. I didn't realise James McFadden was on a free. We need some depth out wide, he'd be a good player in the system Kean was using at the end of last season. Hahnemann Pantsil Woodgate Upson Samuel Larsson Reo-Coker Vieira Gera Carew Gudjohnsen Kamara Benjani McFadden Zenden Edwards Bowyer Gardner Gabbidon Khizanishvili Spector Taylor You can make two pretty good teams out of that list and still have some left to spare...
davulsukur Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 What names are standing out for you Lechuck? McFadden has being injured for ages hasnt he? last thing we need is another Grella on the books Edit: just seen your edit! Paddy Vieira on a freebie, could have "the next Vieira" and the actual Vieira on the same team. (Not saying that i actually want us to sign him btw)

Hahnemann Pantsil Woodgate Upson Samuel Larsson Reo-Coker Vieira Gera Carew Gudjohnsen Subs: Taylor, Gabbidon, Spector, Bowyer, Edwards, Zenden, McFadden You can make a match-day squad with all those players...probably better than what we have now! Yeah not to bad of a list this season.. you missed sickboy Hargreaves, Meite, Sonko.. and the inevitable KUQI!!!!
Roverdale Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Roverdale, not that I'm against going for wickham but I have to take issue with your comment about him bagging a fair number of goals. 13 in 65 games doesn't seem like that great a return. He did get 8 of those 13 last season.. The previous 2 seasons he was 16 and 17 years old! Anyone bagging a single goal in the Championship at that age is ridiculous. Although it might not seem like that great of a return didn't Andy Carroll struggle at that age? I haven't actually looked that up so I could be wrong but I was under the impression he didn't hit real form til he was 20ish. I believe Wickham will be a much better player than Carroll and look at Carroll's value now! If he could bang in 8 goals a season in a rotation system with some other strikers and we can make a £20m profit on him he's gotta be worth a punt. Although I think we'd miss out on him to a bigger team even this summer.

Shows you how good the current first 11 is if you think that lot are better. Woodgate for a start is never bloody fit so forget him.
Stockport rover Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Is there actually anything in this Adebayor thing? Really cant see it myself as he is one of those players who things he is better than he is and having been on loan at madrid doubt he'd want to move to rovers?!

Or look how desperate Liverpool where, can't believe it took Newc long to agree to sell him.
LeChuck Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 What names are standing out for you Lechuck? McFadden has being injured for ages hasnt he? Yeah think he has actually, scratch that one then. Actually I'd probably only look at Reo-Coker, Gera and Upson, assuming Larsson doesn't want to come here. I'd be tempted to look at Carew as well, especially as Benjani has just gone. Yeah not to bad of a list this season.. you missed sickboy Hargreaves, Meite, Sonko.. and the inevitable KUQI!!!! Hah...a third team? Dare I?! Rachubka Jacobsen Sonko Meite Garrido Koumas Hargreaves Faye Pires Phillips Kuqi Still not that bad, scraping the barrel for strikers there a bit maybe...
modes98 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 What names are standing out for you Lechuck? McFadden has being injured for ages hasnt he? He was out the whole of last season but I think that is all he has missed. I am very surprised that Brum didn't enforce the extra 2 years option they had, unless it was linked to PL status. If he was fully fit then he would be a very good signing.
davulsukur Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Yer i would bring Carew in to replace Benji, good shout. Gera and Reo coker might be worth a look.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted June 16, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted June 16, 2011 Yer i would bring Carew in to replace Benji, good shout. Gera and Reo coker might be worth a look. Carew and Reo-Coker for sure. Was hoping for Larsson, but the noises seem to be that he's going to Sunderland. Quite surprised at the calibre of some of the players on frees in all honesty!
davulsukur Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Whats Vladimir Weiss up to these days? Still at man city? looked decent not so long ago. Seems to have dropped off the radar totally
LeChuck Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Would Jonathan Spector be worth a look? He can play in both full back positions and in midfield. We do need extra bodies in all three of those positions, so a solid utility player might not be a bad answer.
rog of the rovers Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Michael Woods from Chelsea. Wasn't he the next big thing? Also Tom Cruise got released by Arsenal! and Steve Irwin was released by Liverpool!
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted June 16, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted June 16, 2011 Whats Vladimir Weiss up to these days? Still at man city? looked decent not so long ago. Seems to have dropped off the radar totally He was on loan at Rangers last season, and Bolton before that I seem to remember, I also thought he looked decent. No doubt City will want rid!
Gav Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Scores goals but is unlikely to come in the first place, wouldn't stay 5 mins and would be a load of hassle while he was here. Bunkum indeed. Only on this site do we have people turning their noses up at strikers of the calibre of Adebayor, I know it won’t happen, but come on its Blackburn not Barcelona, earth to Jim, earth to Jim
jim mk2 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I'm surprised Kean isn't chasing Larsson. I would have thought the Swede would have fitted perfectly into the long-ball direct game that Kean was playing at the end of last season. He is also second only to Pedersen in the PL in terms of ability to hit dangerous free kicks and corners. Would be a good long-term replacement for Pedersen when the maestro perhaps calls it a day in a few years' time.
ABBEY Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Thing is if the chicken dippers are seriuos about cl and top 5 finishes .Or even what's been PROMIsED ..a tip 8 and a cup WIN then adebayor is the sort of player/money/wages they need .If not then they are just full of it.
