Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I think the manager is trying to set the guy up for a good career and is helping him get the best deal, he seems to be pushing Rovers a lot. This deal is so on and off I'm just going to wait and see if he signs on the official site.

dr_awol Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 liammcleod79 Liam McLeod #Rangers' latest bid for Goodwillie again falls short of what #DundeeUnited want for the player Rangers must think biding for Goodwille is like a reverse auction where the lowest unique bid wins
Amo Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 If we sign him I am buying my wife one. She not got one at home?
yeti-dog Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Anyone man enough to get goodwillie on your back? Depends..as long as people realise it's a description rather than an invitation..
rebelmswar Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 She not got one at home? I was seeing it more as advertisement for me, but you got me.
john.leigh Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 In a long piece on the BBC DUFC manager Peter Houston said "I've said before that I think it would be better if he went down south, but if David chooses Glasgow Rangers then fine.I love Glasgow and live there, but I felt there is always someone bigger than him out there who would take it into their own hands to harm as he has a reputation for being able to handle himself." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14344125.stm I think this could be key factor in the decision. Maybe we'll see if Goodwillie has got his head screwed on after all his recent legal 'attention' - if he has matured you would think that choosing to come to us would be a no-brainer... When you look at it in the context below it seems sound sensible advice from Houston Houston: "In my honest opinion, with his off-field problems, coming to Glasgow isn't the best thing. I said that and I still stand by that," he added. "You know the troubles that can happen here in Glasgow - and I'm a Glaswegian. It's a crucial move, he has a decision to make. He has to grow up and be a mature person and I think he's getting there. I think he's had a couple of frights recently. He has to move on and think solely on a football career that can be a very good career." read more here http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14322861.stm
SergioPeter89 Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Love how Steve Kean said this after the game against Kitchee: "It was difficult conditions in the first half and I felt as though we never really penetrated enough." And now we are suddently buying a Goodwillie.. My humour..
braddock Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Anyone man enough to get goodwillie on your back? Him or his name?
Roost Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I am optimistic about this purchase. Me too. Playing alongside Hoillet and Rochina could be very exciting to watch.
john.leigh Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Anyone man enough to get goodwillie on your back? I've already got one at the front...
Silencio Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Couldn't really tell what kind of player he was from the youtube. It seems he's very highly rated but what kind of player is he, we need someone who the midfielders can play off in the Sutton mould IMO...
newfan Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Rovers agree Goodwillie fee Terrors striker given permission to discuss Ewood Park move
sweet Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 According to wiki, he is only 5ft 9, so he definitely isn't the target man to play in a 4-2-3-1. However, I dont think kean plans on playing that formation anyway. Judging by pre season and the players we have seriously been linked with and who kean is interested in signing (goodwillie/kean) I think kean seriously want us to play and set us up similary to barcelona ( ), just like how they have a small forward line of messi, villa, pedro who constantly interchange.

You could well be right there sweet, was thinking that myself, however we do need another option if that doesnt work!!

My guess is that Kean will alternate between 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1, with Goodwillie as one of the options in a two man strike force.
rebelmswar Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Height doesn't matter too much if Kean aims to keep it on the ground. Goodwille is more a jab it in man.

Give 'Em the Axe Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Maybe so. I still like the idea of a big strong bucko leading the line with the ability to put his noggin on crosses and give knock owns to the wee skillful fellas buzzing around him.
