Just one warm-up match before the first Test. One. In years gone by there'd be 3 of 4. If the batsmen fail again they'll be going into the series cold and out of form 3 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 2 Posted November 2 We used to play all the State teams twice I think plus one or two made up teams back in the day. Just reading back as best as I can to the first series I remember in Australia - 1958-59. According to the records as well as the 5 Tests we played 15 other First Class matches. Quote
Gav Posted November 9 Posted November 9 12 days until 1st Ashes Test starts. I’m going for an England win in Perth. 1 Quote
jim mk2 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 To add to England's brilliant build-up, the walking piece of fragile glass that is Mark Wood is injured again 1 Quote

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted 5 hours ago Moderation Lead Posted 5 hours ago Not a great start to this Ashes. No shock that Crawley had a poor total, but we will need more from Stokes and Root this series than this morning. Quote
Polky Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Been up since 2:00am watching the Ashes. Starc bowling really well in the absence of Cummins and Hazlewood. Duckett, Pope and Brook all got in and looked comfortable to then get out against the run of play. Crawley was awful shot selection which we’re all used to by now. Should have even dropped a while ago. Root got squared up to a great ball, not much he could have done. Quote
jim mk2 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Let’s see how England bowl but that’s a pathetic start to the series. Quote
Gav Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 17 wickets fell on day 1 of the India v Aus test match in Perth last year. Don't throw the towel in just yet. 1 Quote

Gav Posted 59 minutes ago Posted 59 minutes ago Stokes has taken 5 wickets since tea! 121-9, can we clean them up before stumps? 1 Quote
oldjamfan1 Posted 44 minutes ago Posted 44 minutes ago Whatever we might think of some of England’s shot selections, that was sport at its very best. And it’s just the first day of the series! 🔥🔥🔥💪🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Quote
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted 19 minutes ago Moderation Lead Posted 19 minutes ago Just a shame we couldn't get them all out at the end, there. But, credit where it's due- we've bowled very well and made a hell of a recovery. Quote

They need to realise that you don’t have to score off every ball. We needed to hang around for longer and see Starc off. At least our bowlers have got us right back into the game. Nice to see us fight fire with fire for once, that one from Wood that hit the grill was real shaker. No helmet and that would have been a broken jaw. They don’t like it up ‘em either. Quote
jim mk2 Posted 6 minutes ago Posted 6 minutes ago Is there any point in scheduling 5-day Tests any more? This could be over in 2 days Not Test cricket as we know and like to remember it but if England do somehow manage to win we'll take it 1 Quote
