Stuart Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Hanley has never been very good and is also the one player that's been in the side whilst we've had defensive frailties, the rest have all gone. Dann used to basically play centre half on his own as Hanley was out of position time and time again.Good point. A lot of people blamed Scott Dann as the weaker defender. Look where they both are now.Different partners, same common denominator.

Commondore Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qC6uwAKf5sY Our first two goals come from Mickey Mouse defending by Charlton, and their penalty should never have been given.
Gav Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Absolutely shocking defending for all the goals. Looked like another good away following also, great effort again by the away support, you're a credit to the club.
Al Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Never a penalty. Steele had every right to try to catch that ball.
bluebruce Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Glad I'm not the only one who thought that penalty was bullshit.
Dortmund Rover 32 Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 When we played them in the cup Rhodes was clattered by their keeper after heading the ball past him and we never got a pen for it.
Backroom Tom Posted March 15, 2015 Backroom Posted March 15, 2015 He has every right to go for it but if he doesn't get it and clatters the man its always going to be a penalty
Al Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 He has every right to go for it but if he doesn't get it and clatters the man its always going to be a penalty Neither of them got it Tom. To me they clattered one another. A foul could just as easily been given in the other direction and normally the keeper would get the benefit of any doubt.

I honestly think in that situation a penalty would be given more often than not but no harm done
Al Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I honestly think in that situation a penalty would be given more often than not but no harm done Yea! No problem as it happens.
JBiz Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Yea! No problem as it happens. What you think of Steeles decent form recently Al?
Gav Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 What you think of Steeles decent form recently Al? If I can comment also, Steele has been great of late, no doubt about that, but you can't replace Robinsons experience and the bottom line for me is he should never have been replaced, he sould be the No1.
Proudtobeblue&white Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I was stood right behind SE at Anfield and he didn't utter a word, and sit in the BE, and as it is quite quiet can hear nowt from JS. One thing Robinson does is shout and direct. The two young keepers are very timid when it comes to sorting the defence out. Comes with experience obviously.
Backroom Tom Posted March 15, 2015 Backroom Posted March 15, 2015 What you think of Steeles decent form recently Al? I wasn't convinced on Steele I thought he always looked a moment away from an unforced error but he seems a lot comfier recently. That's possibly down to a better defensive pairing in front of him making him more confident or Eastwood breathing down his neck but he's looked really decent recently and certainly not a cause for concern as he once looked like.
Amo Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 He has every right to go for it but if he doesn't get it and clatters the man its always going to be a penalty Exactly. If a 'keeper comes charging out like that then he better make damn sure he gets the ball, otherwise he's always going to run the risk of giving away a pen.
Proudtobeblue&white Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Having seen it on the telly box, as the keeper has hands, he has to get it. He was a long way out of goal, for once thought ref was spot on.
chor808 Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 If you where there you might have noticed the bunch of Belgium fans to our left. Charlton fans not happy about them. We bumped into them near the ground it was like the 80's again. http://www.charltonlife.com/discussion/66963/those-bouncing-belgiums Anyway great day out and superb result just a shame we have not got rid of that loser Rhodes.
thenodrog Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I would certainly have Killgallon, Baptiste and Duffy in before Spuddy so if he is happy as fourth choice then fair enough, he's just about adequate in that role. Plus he can put more focus on his hunt for ladies and beer which he seems more committed to anyway. Tom and to all those who are eager to get Hanley out of the club, have you forgotten that two of the above are currently injured? ....... The proof is in the pudding.

Couldn't help but notice them, every one wearing stone island and have a stone island banner they put out, they tried to have some banter with us rovers fans for a while, they soon had any enthusiasm sucked out of them. bit of a police presence around them aswell
Backroom Tom Posted March 15, 2015 Backroom Posted March 15, 2015 Tom and to all those who are eager to get Hanley out of the club, have you forgotten that two of the above are currently injured? Course not, but he won't be leaving this instant will he? He's also injured so a bit of a moot point

A foul could just as easily been given in the other direction and normally the keeper would get the benefit of any doubt. According to the telly the Charlton striker headed it first (albeit going wide) before being clattered in the head by Steele's double handed punch. A penalty all day long.
bluebruce Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Tom and to all those who are eager to get Hanley out of the club, have you forgotten that two of the above are currently injured? Wait, are you crediting him just for existing? If we sold him we could just buy a replacement you know.
thenodrog Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Wait, are you crediting him just for existing? If we sold him we could just buy a replacement you know. No need I suppose, just rem we do have that Songo haven't we?
