Husky Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Isn't that their 4th striker signing this season?

Rover_Shaun Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Which idiot believed the only bid £6m story? Hmmmm
yorkyclaret Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 5 if you include the Wimbledon Wonderkid! Might be one or two for sale.
bob fleming Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Clearly a massive panic buy as Rovers go above them in the league. I've never heard of the fella, honestly!, until Bristol City were linked. Good to see that they're prepared to buy success. Funny that isn't it? The minute they get a few quid that start throwing it around - all principles out the window. I expect they're hoping to bring back the glory days of 82/83.

bob fleming Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 The Miller men ha ha Well I messed that up! Had to google it but of course I was referring to those halcyon free spending days of another manager. 83/84 and Johnny Bond.
chris_h Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I wonder if Clarets mad has a Den equivalent who bellyaching about this?

longsiders1882 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Buying it - with our own money if we are. Seems an odd signing with our desperate need for a CM and CH. then again despite having kore strikers than a Neil Warnock squad we don't have any capable of scoring it seems! Not unhappy with the signing but we really should be getting a centre mid in and a centre half as first priorities. Still loving the taste of the grapes - like tangfastics.

You must be wondering why now, and not 12 months ago.
bob fleming Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Buying it - with our own money if we are. Ha! Whereas Jack Walker was just a great pick pocket I presume? £8m?!? I've never heard of him! Seriously though, why do you think they've chosen to invest now and not last season?
longsiders1882 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 The transfer policy makes no sense at all to me - had we spent last summer I would have understood it. I can only assume that as we hadn't received any PL money we simply couldn't finance the deals - though I can't imagine it would be hard to borrow against assured TV money. Seems to me like they are foundering a little to be honest - and the Lansbury saga has created a right mess. Apparently all agreed between managers to the point where we'd given our player permission to speak to them, which he had done, and then owner pulls plug for either second or third time. Based on current signings we are playing a 1-1-8 formation at the weekend.
Gav Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Buying it - with our own money if we are. Still loving the taste of the grapes - like tangfastics. No sour grapes here numb nuts, we've got a real goalscorer already, and the popular opinion is our 2nd striker Lawrence is better than Gray anyway
yorkyclaret Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Last season we hadn't just sold players for 13-14 million. Though we did bid 10 Million for Troy Deany
Baz Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 Last season we hadn't just sold players for 13-14 million. Though we did bid 10 Million for Troy Deany You did have £100m+ guaranteed income though.
yorkyclaret Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 You did have £100m+ guaranteed income though Not being funny Baz but considering the financial mess your club is in, do you really feel you should be advising us how to spend ours?
Rover_Shaun Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I never knew Baz spent all the money. Baz ya little bugger!
yoda Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Not being funny Baz but considering the financial mess your club is in, do you really feel you should be advising us how to spend ours? Only when you come on here
bob fleming Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Not being funny Baz but considering the financial mess your club is in, do you really feel you should be advising us how to spend ours? Blimey, are you and Longy on the Board these days?
Gav Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Not being funny Baz but considering the financial mess your club is in, do you really feel you should be advising us how to spend ours? I tried, I really did...... Yorkie, do us a favour and uck off
Baz Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 Not being funny Baz but considering the financial mess your club is in, do you really feel you should be advising us how to spend ours? Erm....didn't realise I was in charge of Rovers spending... However, I made the same comments at the start of last season that Id be disappointed as a Burnley fan to see the club not really give it a right good go (in joke). I'm not saying they should have bankrupted the club, but they hardly spent anything, then they go a spend £9m on someone who could walk around Burnley town centre tomorrow and not be recognised. Just seems a weird to me.
McClarky Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Does seem odd though that B***ley wait until they are at the bottom of the league before splashing the cash. Why of why didn't they sign this fella in July and get ready for the season. he's bound to be flop anyway, he plays for B***ley after all.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted August 22, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted August 22, 2015 I might have known it was different when Burnley were sounding large sums on a player ; -)

I'm not saying they should have bankrupted the club, but they hardly spent anything, then they go a spend £9m on someone who could walk around Burnley town centre tomorrow and not be recognised. Just seems a weird to me. Really? I was told you are the money man! The club is in a completely different situation now to last season. Then we had a great group, really just wanted a big forward as cover with the injury to Vokes, and a center midfielder for cover. We chased Troy Deaney, offering 10 then 11 Million but were not prepared to meet Watfords demand for 13 million, probably a mistake in retrospect. Now we have lost arguably 3 of our best 4 outfield players with the other one long term injured, and the team are not performing particularly well. We have taken 7.5 million in fees and have between 5 and 8 million to come from Liverpool when the Tribunal sorts it out. Fairly obvious that we desperately need some pace and flair up front, such a player comes available at an acceptable price and seems he couldn't wait to get here. Also a big change i running the club, last season we had the odd situation of having co-chairmen, now we just have one, so no getting together for discussions, disagreements or other problems.
