That is brilliant

Agreed but like someone else mentioned, get rid of the non discript buildings and just make everything else bigger. Would be simpler, more effective with a better impact.

  • 2 weeks later...

2 large flags along with 2 smaller one's have been ordered & will be in place for the Huddersfield game :tu:

Will arrange for some pics to be taken when they have delivery of them!

Don't forget to take advantage of the cheap tickets and bring along your own flags, scarves and voices!

Just seen this post. What a great idea.

If there is another donation page please put the link up here I'd like to donate. It would be exciting to see the Blackburn End draped in flags/covered with scarves/pole-flags of icons, our club and current fan favourites. It can only serve to improve the atmosphere too.

In the future I would very much like to see one of Tugay. He was a club icon and it was great to see the Turkey fans travelling over on his final game for us. Ronnie Clayton should definitely be considered too.

Can a continuous donation page be set up? It could be placed at the top of BRFCC.com for people to donate at their will and be advertised on other blackburn fan sites. Maybe a good idea would be to ask the club if they are willing to match donations? 400-500 quid would be a drop in the ocean to them but is another 3/4 flags for us and can only serve as a good PR stunt for them.

I don't often say this but I agree with Vinjay. Perhaps not at the start of the process but at some point a flag denouncing financial fair play could be bought and unveiled at a club that has similar problems with the system themselves. That is if there's enough money in the pot.

EDIT: Seen some of the idea for designs. I quite like the 'small town big history' one. We already have one of JW, will have one showing off our history, perhaps a third could be a flag with 4 or 5 of our club icons on it with our badge in the background?

Would love to see scarves held aloft around the ground as well. However not as many people bring scarves these days.

I think a lot of these things need to be fan led these days. If you look at Crystal Palace as an example that section of their home end organise all of their displays. It would be nice if this could spiral into something a bit more than flags - a true supporters clubs dedicated to making each home game a special atmosphere. We certainly need some way to take back some control of our club.

We could buy 500 scarves ...give them to any youngster entering the ground with a piece of paper asking them to wave the scarf and to bring it to the home matches. If it succeeds do it again at one of the 'kids free' matches.

As people have said, we need to take control -we are now the holders of Jack's legacy.

I don't like the idea of the 'small town' banner. Accrington is a small town, Blackburn is not. Infact Blackburn should be a city, so I don't see what it achieves in promoting it as a 'small town' when it isn't. Reading, Ipswich or Middlesbrough wouldn't describe themselves as small town and none of them have a cathedral.

I think the 'small town' thing is to emphasise how much we've achieved in relation to the conurbations that normally win trophies.

But yes, generally speaking a town of 100,000 is not a small town.

Why just not:

'BRFC- England's most successful town club'.

That's far better. I just think portraying ourselves as small town is not only incorrect, as by any definition Blackburn is a large town that should aspire to city status, but I also think it is putting ourselves down. Almost suggesting that whilst we've had a glorious history perhaps we didn't deserve it whilst others do because they might have more people living there.

It's really more a case of showing what we have achieved despite being a town & not a 'fashionable' big city club.

Flags Are ready and waiting for Saturday. Should be a good display! The only pic that has been posted by one of the organisers so far is a sneak peak... I will try and find it and post it onto here!

Can we still donate/will the club match our donations in order to increase the amount of flags bought?

It is the Wife's Birthday on Saturday so will miss the game (I have NO choice over the matter).

Can someone post some nice pics after the game please?

Its just not true though (the "small" bit) and that's the issue. I mentioned the City Challenge scheme years ago in response.

You only have 12 posts presumably we have crossed paths elsewhere?

Absolutely on FUP. I proposed that myself (when I could still PM) and that it could have been introduced specifically for the Forest game. Did question whether it might be confiscated though as the League (it probably wouldn't be on UEFA's radar as a Championship club) could complain to the club. If there had been a FUP flag (and no previous flag of Jack being brought out of storage) I probably would have contributed. I don't mind individual flags for certain players but that would just cause disagreements over who's been left out. Jack obviously is the undisputed first "face on a flag" choice for all fans.

Yes you do. ;)
