Whatever you think of the Old Firm, they have huge fan bases (probably only bettered by two premier league clubs and even then its arguable). Or they go to Saudi or china or someother mega rich place. Quote

Gav Posted April 10 Posted April 10 We are at Ibrox later for Rangers v Athletic Bilbao Europa Play off game. It’s been another season to forget on the domestic front, with Rangers miles off the pace and Celtic dominating once again. But Rangers do seem to find another gear on these European nights, so fingers crossed. 2 Quote

After the red card, I thought Rangers would struggle, so fair play to them. I've seen Bilbao a few times this season and they're a good side. 1 Quote

The crowd were fantastic, I love going to watch Rangers, it’s like football used to be before Sky came along and sanitised the working man’s game. 1 Quote

I got offered a ticket for last night Gav, but I was more interested in watching the Masters tbh. The thing that puts me off Ibrox is the sectarian bile that is sadly still prevalent. 1 Quote

Can’t say I noticed it last night to be honest, but let’s not pretend it’s an Ibrox issue, it’s a Scottish football issue and happens at many grounds across Scotland. Edited April 11 by Gav Quote

oldjamfan1 Posted April 11 Posted April 11 There’s very little sectarian trouble or arrests anywhere in Scotland in professional football unless the old firm are involved in it Gav and they are as bad as each other. I’ve been on just about every other SPL and championship ground in my 30 years up here to watch games not involving Rangers or Celtic and almost without exception - nowt. Hearts and Hibs maybe being those exceptions. But it’s certainly not widespread. ‘Junior’ (non league) football - yeah there’s a problem there but even then it’s linked to their old firm allegiances. 3 Quote

You’re right about Hearts and Hibs, I’ve also heard sectarian chanting at Killy and Dundee this season, but we digress, this is about a very good battling Rangers performance last night which keeps them in the tie for the return leg. Gav Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Great night at Ibrox last week, really enjoyed it, brilliant atmosphere and the Athletic fans were great enjoying the Glasgow sun and pubs. I think Athletic will have to much for Rangers, but we live in hope. Come on Rangers 🇬🇧 Quote

Gav Posted Sunday at 19:44 Posted Sunday at 19:44 (edited) Rangers statement tonight condemning the tifo today at Ibrox. I have to say I almost fell of my settee seeing this. The club have said the display from fans is centred around trust, the club don’t ‘vet’ the displays, well that’s been shot to shit, embarrassing frankly. It’s actually Souness in the picture, but the message is sectarian bile. Edited Sunday at 19:45 by Gav 1 Quote
oldjamfan1 Posted Monday at 07:07 Posted Monday at 07:07 Yeah even Rangers fans were shocked by that one. It’s not the kind of thing you can sneak into the stadium in your back pocket either. Our old boy Chris Sutton made me laugh a couple of times during commentary yesterday. He loves to wind the Rangers fans up. Just after they took the lead he said “And Rangers are ahead in the moral victory derby”, then 5 minutes later followed it up with “Rangers are going for a treble of victories over Celtic. Meanwhile Celtic are going for an ‘actual’ treble!” What a cunt 😂😂😂 2 Quote

You’d have thought someone would have taken extra steps here, I’m sure it’s not the last the club will hear of this. Yes I follow Sutton, calling yesterday’s game a ‘dead rubber’ all week, knowing old firm games are never dead rubbers! Wind-up merchant. 1 Quote
Claytons Left Boot Posted Monday at 13:38 Posted Monday at 13:38 I’m not sure the footballing authorities in Scotland will particularly want to do anything about that tifo but they will no doubt have to in view complaints etc coming their way. Another glass bottle on the pitch as well. At least it wasn’t multiple pieces of broken glass, like at the Ibrox game when Joe Hart was in goals. Jagged glass that could have cut and injured Rangers players as well as Celtic’s. Were Rangers ever punished for that? It’s always good value watching Chris Sutton get the better of Kris Boyd, especially as he doesn’t hide his wry smile. I’ll be up on Saturday for the Hibs game. Probably been up more times this season than ever before. 41st season and counting. 🙂 Quote

We have a Celtic fan and his son all over twitter seemingly baiting home fans about the Ibrox disaster. I won’t hold my breath that SFA will address any of this though…… Edited Monday at 17:11 by Gav 1 Quote

The majority of fans are decent enough but there are idiots on both sides of the divide and the idiots up there are off the scale. We talk about this sometimes on the way up on the bus. Some areas of Scotland are as bad as, if not worse than, Ulster. I hope away fans aren’t banned again, as it’s been good to see half decent followings this season at both grounds. PS. I can do the Tina Turner doll for you at half price £4.99 😬🤣 1 Quote
