And if you have someone up the pitch you can make the clearance much quicker as you can pretty much just hoof it. None of this fannying about waiting for the play to break

Plus the fact that players like Morishita or Yuki and Dolan last season are next to no use at defending corners. They may as well be on the halfway line occupying an opponent or two. The more players you can get out of the 6 yard box the more chance you have of your goalkeeper defending the corner effectively. I’m sick of seeing keepers trying to make a save on the goal line and failing to keep the ball out. On another point your attacking players are more likely to concede a penalty in those circumstances.

Somebody will come up with the idea in a while and it’ll be hailed as a new master stroke.

The ideal scenario is everyone back like normal (to prevent a short corner etc) as soon as the player runs up to strike it - the defending team sprint out the box.. keeper catches it and then plays it up to the now attacking team - leaving a fast break of 8 on 2 etc.

Been a couple more in The Times/Sunday Times too recently in a similar, ‘Christ, how good is this lad?’ vein.

Still, least we got a similar fee to Tyler Morton and only ten million behind Jobe.

Lee Dixon commentating on tonight’s match saying how Wharton knows where his pass is going before he gets it.

I said that from the first time A saw him. It’s why he’s never under pressure. He doesn’t hold onto it long enough for anyone to get close to him.

It’s a wonderful talent and not many players are blessed with it. Couple that with pin point accuracy from a first touch and he’s a dream to watch.

Watching it. When he plays well. Palace play well.  He's been a different player second half

That was the first thing that caught my eye the first time I saw him play. He’s rarely caught in possession.

I thought he was sensational second half.  He completely dominated arsenal's midfield.  I hope he leaves England and moves to Barcelona or real madrid
