How does that work with players already above 10k like Cantwell or Hyam or Travis?Β

they`ll be either sold or their contracts run down.no idea if the rumour is true, but looking at the reason for departuresΒ  of jdt and eustace it probably is

Im not saying it is true, I dont know.Β

But if it is presumably from this summer, then it helps to explain the difficulty in getting Travis, Hyam, Brittain, Dolan and Tronstad to extend their deals.

Either way, the main reason we will be struggling to tie down our best players is for financial reasons.

It will def be financial no doubting that but if it’s as clear cut as 10k cap then why haven’t they just rejected the offers and put in a transfer request. Would seem like the logical thing to doΒ

If you put in a transfer you lose your "loyalty" payments if sold.

It's only one year if needs be for Trav, Tronstad, Brittain and Hyam, they might aswell see it out if the offers to sell them don't come in now.

it`s a completely bizarre way to run a football club,is`nt it better to tie players down to longer contracts then sell them if you are struggling for money, you get the best price then,i take it venkys don`t run their chicken butcheringΒ  business like they do their football club

Because logically it's more lucrative to see the contract out at Ewood.

Agreed ages ago but buried until we'd got some signings in, hide bad news behind good.

Nice of Derby to wait for us to get some signings in to announce it then!Β

Still a risk could lose form could get a serious injury. While stock is high now I doubt the β€˜loyalty’ payments would/should be much of an issueΒ

Not difficult to ask them not too really is it out of respect.

These things happen in football all the time and they don't have to bother about shifting season tickets do they.

All it takes is both players to say out of respect for Rovers to say please don't tip the press off yet

By the way would you like to show me where Derby have announced it ?

Imagine getting hammered by our old players. Think I'd actually cry

I am 62 now, on the day of relegation from the Prem, I said I will never see Rovers back in that Division.Β

Why you ask?Β

Cos that relegation was 100% deliberate and nothing as happened since to make me change my mind.Β

Venkys Out now , there won't be a club in 2030.Β

It still boils my piss that we’ve allowed Danny Batth to walk away. Probably the easiest, and certainly the most sensible deal, they could have done all summer. We’ll come to rue that all season.

Aren't most of those players you listed on higher wages than 10k.Β

Hyam and Cantwell are probably our biggest wage earners, Travis, Brittain and Tronstad on higher than 10k.Β

Is it though if they say nope I want out and have suitors would they then not move on to a better pay packet?

You're assuming concrete interest and bids that would satisfy Rovers and give the player a pay rise.

The likely event is there is neither so unless they ask and forfeit whatever is owing in order to gamble on a move the fashionable thing to do at Rovers is play out or sit out your contract.

Pick up your full pay and anything owing then go elsewhere free hopefully get bigger wages and a signing on fee.

What does that matter if the cap has on recently been introduced ?

I disagree….there would 100% be suitors for Brittain trav and tronstad

bids that would satisfy rovers? Going by the majority in here we’d accept any sort of money for them so it’s either we’re in fire sale or we’re not?

im just not buying the 10k thing personally but itl def be financial one way or anotherΒ

we`ve had chances to build on promising seasons since relegation, every time venkys have impeded the manager, there will still be rovers in 2030 though we`ll probably be in the bottom division with 2 stands open

So your theory is both batth and weimann have had some gentleman’s agreement with Derby to say β€˜don’t tip off the press or let on we have signed’ until rovers have announced a couple of signings so it takes the edge off?

I'd say the 10k think is correct you have to look at the bigger picture and all the things in it and for now it probably allows us to keep a few higher earners a bit longer, coupled with the squad filled out with lads on far less than 10k.

Elements in the equation ...

No/severely reduced funding

Clubs surviving in the near future on sales income/low ticket sales

The need to pull in line future wages to income ratio or risk punishment

No players of any real value left to sell.

A 10k cap makes perfect sense.....to them not us.

I believe Preston had similar a few years but had no choice but to up it in order to compete but we are clearly being set up to go the other way.

It's operation put a team out and don't go bust at Ewood now.

It's possible but ... THEY HAVEN'T ANNOUNCED IT have they.
