Sounds like we are writing this one off and "rotating" the squad and giving minutes to those who haven't played much.

VI has already name dropped Toth (no bad thing) and Montgomery in his post match interview as players that will play, along with any new players (good luck on that one Val)

Difficult to pick a line up at the moment but I would imagine there would be starts for Toth, Montgomery, De Neve, Henriksson, O'Riordan, Acheson, Gardner-Hickman & possibly Dlamini.

I think he'll want to rest Ohashi but without another striker to start, he might have to play. Think he'll leave out both Cantwell and Baradji also.

Its going to be one terrible looking we team we manage to put out.

Agreed.

He won't be able to rotate the full lot but whatever team we do end up fielding is going to be dreadful.

No bad thing to rotate here. With ohashi being the only striker he needs resting imo. Give the youth a chance for this one:

                       Toth

   Atcheson.  O'riordan.   Ribeiro

Montgomery Forshaw TGH  De Neve

               Henrickson  Baradji

                      Joseph

Subs: Pears, mccloughlin, pratt, pickering, miller, tronstad, cantwell, Powell, ohashi, dlamini.

Something like that, maybe give Powell a go. No idea if Joseph is up to starting a proper game.

I'd be happy with playing Toth & the youth players.    I really would like to see Joseph & Powell especially given a chance.  and can se the merit of giving game time to Henriksson, Ribeiro, De Neve etc (if only to give others a rest)

Think Forshaw is still injured, and not sure Montgomery is fit enough to be starting, especially as a wing back

All the academy lads in for this including those already in the team/squad,  fill the entire team apart from Toth who needs his route back to first team football.

Could not care less about this competition this season as a good cup run could spell relegation. All this 'treat the cup with respect' is all well and good when you have the tools or are bumbling around well clear of the drop zone.

Besides the reward for fielding as strong a side as possible in this will probably be more knocks and fatigue and Boro or Watford away at 12.30 on a Sunday.  Perhaps the 'Cup' should start showing a little respect the other way.

Let the kids go for it and see how far they get alongside getting valuable experience.

I hear, Everton have put in a £4,000,000 bid for Alibousi, it would bring in a decent striker, and one or two others. I would try out academy players for the fa Cup tie, our main aim, is staying in the Championship.

deffo wouldn't be playing Tronstad, Ohashi, Cantwell and Baradji for this. leave them at home and not even travelling to Hull

Got to agree with you there, I've never been one to "throw" a game but our squad strength is so bare we just cannot take the risk during a season that relegation is a very real possibility. I'd add Miller to that list too, the lad has played every international break.

We need Alebiosu to stay at least until the summer regardless of how much money we are offered now.

You heard that from some random account on X more like.

Probably because someone is trying to get an auction going, i'm damn certain if Everton had bid that he'd be there having a medical now whilst Gestede and assorted agent pals cracked the non alcoholic bubbly and counted %.

Someone should let him know he’s wrong.

I was thinking as it came post press conference if it came up there.

Wouldnt think so though. Our club is always on top of admin.

Should we add the rule to the threads the club probably monitors (Pasha out etc)?? 🤔

Might as well play the kids in this one to rest some key players.

                              Toth

        Atcheson   O'Riordan   Ribeiro

Montgomery     TGH    Henriksson   Powell

                              Doherty

                     Joseph    Dlamini

Would like to see Tyjon play, but feels like there's no point if he's not going to sign a professional contract with us.

@KentExile you have good knowledge of our U21 players, is Mullarkey-Matthews currently injured? Remember him being quite lively in one of the pre-season friendlies.

Yep, he hasn't played since October now, but didn't pull up any trees when he was playing for the U21s earlier in the season, think he was in and around the first team squad based on his size and physicality rather than his ability

Edit - think this was when he was injured - subbed on at half time, subbed off 20odd minutes later vs Preston U21s.  Suppose it is possible he has returned to fitness since then, U21s haven't played since before Christmas

I enjoy the FA Cup 3rd round usually. I never entertain the idea of it being a hindrance and always really want us to go through. Even if we rotate, it usually feels like we have a chance.

Its pretty depressing that we will be going to the mighty Hull with an uncompetitive squad feeling like coming close to a result would be a massive shock.
