Rowett is way better than Ismael and way more sensible than some of the names linked.

There needs to be some heads wobbled in this fanbase WTF do people expect ?

Not sure this squad nor the way the club ethos claims to be is suitable for his style though, going off his Millwall stint although he'll like the grafters here.

Ive been busy for a few hours and received a message from my mate's son saying "Looks like Rowett".

Id be pleased with that so came on here to see what's happened and all I can see at a quick glance is that the betting odds have gone into 1/3 and Nixon claims we'll be speaking to Rowett because Bilic has been fobbing us off.

Is that it? Doesn't sound particularly conclusive to me, or have I missed something?

I know we aren’t going to be getting anyone if any real proper calibre. But I can’t help think with Rowett (if he does get the job) whether these are his type of players. The teams he’s had he’s had physical sides. I just look at these players and I’m not sure they fit his profile. Let’s see. Tough task for anyone tbf, squads poor.

After watching Rowett on You Tube I think the Leicester job would be more attractive to him which would be a shame for us because he's just the man we need.

I could see someone like Rowett following the Eustace path and come in and un spectacularly grind some results out. Then bring a more solid approach next season that will see midtable or higher but by then he'll be pissed off with summer sales and budget cuts.

So he'll be gone by next Feb but at least hopefully we'd be midtable Championship instead of league 1. Which in my mind would be well worth having him now.

IF he is appointed (far from convinced at this point) can't see him being willing to sign a load of shite from obscure European Clubs like what happened last summer.

With Rowett hes got exactly the right sort of CV. Reminiscent of Eustace. Whats confusing though is why after Millwall he has struggled to get jobs? Just interim at Birmingham, then took the role at Oxford, which by some accounts he got frustrated with and effectively walk away from.

I kind of feel like he will take on Rovers as hes struggled to get jobs before, and we are in a similar place to Oxford so fishing in the same pool, but when he is in the circus will quickly be looking for an exit.

Feels very much like Eustace. But if he keeps us up I wont complain. Interested to see what he makes of Gestede and Suhail....

He seems like an intelligent bloke and I noted in that interview that he expressed some concern about going into clubs as a firefighter and the demands and draining nature of constantly battling against the odds. 

Not sure that would fit with the Venky stooges' plans of cut, cut, cut, sell, sell, sell whilst trying to keep heads above water.

Think he lives Derbyshire way and probably still has mates involved at Derby so will do his homework via Eustace on what he can expect here. Don't think he will like what he hears.

So suspect it will go one of two ways if he's offered the job. Either it's a short term arrangement with him jumping ship once he's mucked around in the transfer market or its a 'no thanks' now especially when they try to force him to work with all the existing staff or for a pittance. Never a good sign if you aren't even prepared to give the new guy free reign on his coaching staff.

I think Rowett would be a fairly sensible if slightly underwhelming appointment. And is certainly someone far more preferable to many of the other names mentioned.

Football is really dull and limited (maybe screams another man leaving next Jan/Feb) but he knows how to set up a team and organise them at this level.

The job to keep us up shouldn't be a massive uphill battle, just because of the situation around us. There are obviously 2 spots available, but it feels closer to 1 with Oxford struggling to stay competitive. So it is essentially a case of not being the worst of 5 or 6 teams down there. With Rowett in charge, I would like to think that our chances of finishing bottom of that mini league decrease.

He doesn't feel like someone who fits in with the current "structure" in the way Ismael did, and I don't say that as a negative thing. It was clear that Ismael was initially content to have crap random imports thrown his way, although even he seemed to have enough of it by the end. Rowett will likely place more importance in domestic experience and hopefully will kick up more of a stink if more De Neve/Henriksson/Tavares types are put his way in the summer.

The Oxford sacking is a big red flag although they really are dire. We all know the state of our squad but we certainly have more quality than them. His jobs before then seem to be a pattern of initial stability before getting to a limit of how far he can take them.

Some interesting comments underneath this following him keeping Oxford up with a game to spare last season.

A league table below shows him getting the 7th best results between christmas and the point of survival in late April, including a particularly strong home record. He wont get that amount of time here however.

Their fans however are much more negative this season about him after results slid and the football was so dull. However, Oxford's squad is insufficent for this level.
