  1. My Sky Sports subscription has been suspended and yesterday I dang Sky to cancel it completely. The pleasant young lady asked me why and I told her that I just don't want to watch football without any supporters inside the stadiums. I also said the last few weeks have confirmed a long held view that the EPL and Championship have become ogres with money being more important than anything. The fear of having to pay back broadcasting money has perversely been dressed up as integrity - a bigger oxy moron you would struggle to find.
  2. Too much dithering for me. Clubs are now meeting on June 8th to decide how to end the Championship and League One. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52847826
  3. Without quoting JHRovers post it's pretty much where I am. The silence from Waggott in the last couple of weeks is palpable and worrying. There has been plenty of time to put forward options whatever they might be and even an opportunity to talk to supporters groups but as far as I'm aware nothing has been done. From a fan base point of view it is crucial that the club try and maintain the current numbers but I really fear that, for a plethora of reasons it's going to dwindle alarmingly. The time has come for Waggott and his team to really earn their money and come up with proposals and radical innovations.
  4. Who knows Stuart. Maybe this is why very few (if any) Championship clubs have given or offered refunds to season ticket holders. I have a recollection of Waggott alluding to this recently. If that is the case would refunds be available to season ticket holders who simply don't want to watch it via (from what I gather) poor streaming or even fans who don't possess a compuer?
  5. Which begs the question when they are going to play/show Championship games. From that schedule it seems that every available slot is taken up.
  6. They have but I they didn't at the time announce whether they paid a fee. If it transpires that they did they should have to pay the furlough money back in my view. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52249423
  7. I wasn't aware that any staff at Rovers have been furloughed. My point was more generalised for all of football. The difference between the companies you mention is that they won't be spending money on transfer fees. Furlough has been a really good scheme but if football clubs (or any businesses) abuse it they should be punished.
  8. He is self isolating for seven days as per the protocol. It's odd that after testing negative on the last round of tests he is now positive. I wonder if anybody he has come into contact with will also need testing now?
  9. I'm talking about non playing staff who have been furloughed. Why should the taxpayers fund a furlough scheme and then clubs spend on transfer fees (and all the associated costs) for new players. Players taking ways deferrals is is different as they will get the difference paid eventually. That is funded by the club.
  10. Another reason would be P&S as the rules currently stand. With income streams severely curtailed it may be that the rules are relaxed but as it stands it presents a major obstacle for clubs intended spend on new players. Alex Neil has suggested that clubs who furloughed staff shouldn't be allowed to sign players. From an ethical perspective I agree with him.
  11. Brereton certainly wasn't booed at Birmingham. There were ironic cheers when he was substituted but (and I was there) it was from a really small group not the majority as you seem to be insinuating. I was sat in the first few rows that were available and it was barely audible from there. Nobody around me reacted.
  12. There are a few huge games when at the time I was thinking we were hanging on but that could have been down to being fraught at being so close. This game was one of them when every second seemed like an hour and every Leicester attack convinced me they would score. But the feeling of winning them games certainly overrides the tension we go through.
  13. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52790371 An interesting piece from the Huddersfield owner who reckons 50 or 60 clubs could go bust. I haven't a clue on the numbers but I can see some clubs going to the wall or perhaps part time. The salary cap proposal for Leagues 1 and 2 is really sensible going forward but the defining period for lots of clubs will be between now and the time that paying customers can come back. Worrying times for football.
  14. Mowbray said he is going to focus on the negatives ??.
  15. No. In my view flippant isn't disrespectful but 'high handed approach' is. Having a different view is fine by the way.
  16. What gives you the right to have a go at anybody who you deem to have 'high handed approach'? Your attitude has been flippant about this pandemic since lockdown was announced but many, many people have a completely different view and attitude. You should respect that.
  17. On your second sentence I remember Rovers playing some excellent spoiling football at the Emirates and not letting Arsenal have their own way. Fabregas approached Hughes at the end and said "didn't you used to play for Barcelona" in a disparaging reference to how we played. Hughes went after him and Fabregas later apologised. Sorry just seen Herbies response.
  18. I guess this news of promotion and relegation would massively change the way some clubs wanted to end the season. Clubs who will be promoted using PPG will say end the season and the relegated clubs will want to play on. Ultimately it will be down to the safe, mid table clubs who will decide and once again the financial side could well be the deciding factor. Realistically from a Rovers perspective the outside chance of a playoff place has to be balanced against the costs of testing, putting the games on, travelling etc.
  19. It's a question you've asked before and I don't think anybody has a definitive answer to. Of course plenty of clubs will struggle and even go to the wall which would be sad but the same can be said about any business which won't survive. In many ways football will have been the master of its own destiny with so many clubs living beyond their means. I welcomed the news of a potential salary caps in Leagues One and Two which is sensible but there was no mention of the Championship or Premier League which are the real demons in the financial mess football finds itself in.
  20. It seems like big changes are coming for Leagues 1 and 2 with salary caps being proposed. In my view this makes real sense in light of the current situation many clubs find themselves in. And it seems like they want more of a level playing field with a ceiling of £2.5m for League One and £1.25m for League Two. Significantly no mention of the Championship. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52738597

  23. You are right Andy and insiders say it seems from Ferguson not taking Alan Hansen to the World Cup in 1986. In a live interview Dalglish was asked a question about Ferguson and he indicated towards his baby daughter in his arms and said 'ask her, you'll get more sense out of her' or words to that effect.
  24. This is my last word on the subject to you as you are either being deliberately obtuse or just missing the point several people are making completely. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/18456564.watfords-troy-deeney-questions-inconsistency-testing-players-not-nhs-staff/
