  1. I think there will be casualties at all levels of football Stuart. The next Sky payment is crucial to the majority of PL clubs which will probably determine their futures. I spoke to a friend today and he said whilst German football is looking likely to begin next month the authorities don't believe there will be any spectators allowed until next year.
  2. A really good insight into how a big EPL club is struggling. With a wage bill of £230m per annum it's not surprising really. I honestly think this horrible pandemic is a real game changer for the game of football and many of the leeches who have been sucking on the teat too. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/inside-story-arsenals-pay-cut-21854815
  3. Excellent news. Thanks for sharing this Stuart. Some good news in a sea of grimness.
  4. I don't do Facebook Mark - is there any other way of accessing them that you know?
  5. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52249423 Norwich furlough non playing staff but sign a new player on a three year deal. They haven't admitted if they have paid a few of not but the timing of this is incredibly poor in my view.
  6. Absolute quality Leonard. Don't feel guilty about your perceived part in our relegation, it was because we were crap ??.
  7. It amazes me how these organisations purport to know what an individual earns. Outside of the club, representatives and family nobody really knows. Pure speculation and lazy journalism.
  8. Scottish football has been suspended until at least June 10th. For a tinpot league and national association they have been pretty decisive on this. Our leagues and association are so ponderous.
  9. Thanks Mark. That stick that looks familiar - was it belonging to Fr Stuart? Cassidy still reminds me of Count Dracula ?.
  10. Was the physics teacher call Hamilton John? I remember him as a bit eccentric and to encourage us to work hard he regularly asked if we wanted to be digging up roads for a living. I also remember quite a few teachers with elbow patches on their jackets which I'd never seen before. It's strange what daft things you remember ??.
  11. Dave Whelans grandson speaks a lot of sense and hits the nail on the head by simply stating that Championship players are paid too much. And how the he'll can Derby get away with paying Ince's mother £700k for scouting. Is it that she is a conduit for her son's inflated wages so it doesn't count towards P&S? If the football authorities weren't so weak they wouldn't even try such a flagrant breach of the rules. There is a massive, game changing time coming up and I really think that in the long term football and clubs will be better run. That is the ones that survive the next few months.
  12. I was in goal Mark and beaten by a bullet header for their goal. I remember celebrating after (I think we were in the away changing room) and Tommy Duckworth bought several bottles of lemonade and we drenched him with it.
  13. They have been embarrassed into reversing the decision and their statement is quite pathetic. Hopefully the mud will stick for some time.
  14. I watched it too Tyrone and as you say it's a moving piece. I really enjoyed the present day element where players from both sides met and chatted about the game and the subsequent events. The fans interviews were also enjoyable. And the dulcet tones of Eddie Waring to boot.
  15. It was. I remember it because I was the fourth official and I was supervising the substitution Saunders said to Thompson something like 'go and get the winner'. When he did he ran over to Saunders to celebrate with him.
  16. I remember Thomson coming on against Chievo in a pre season friendly and smashing one in from distance to give us a 1-0 win.
  17. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52168692 Probably the most feeble excuse I have seen for a long time. Quite frankly they have brought scorn and shame on their organisation and likely the wider football world. I would seriously like to see millions of subscribers closing their Sky Sports package and put fat cats like Taylor out of work.
  18. When the first indications of no football for some time became apparent a few posters on here predicted that big, but changes were afoot and the gravy train was about to hit the buffers. It's happening and the cull of the legions of hangers-on will be one of the first casualties. If anything good comes from this wretched, horrible disease it is that football will be brought into the real world and the winners will be the most important people in the game - fans.
  19. You are correct Lenny. After the celebration game the evening after the title win I was invited into the Premier Suite where the party carried on. Ruddock was in there and as drunk as the rest. He was celebrating like he played for us.
  20. Thanks Gav. I remember this lad well. He actually ran onto the pitch during the game against Coventry to get the players to sign his shaven head. I often wonder whatever became of him.
  21. I bet they wish they had taken that £25m for Josh King now. They are not the only ones though. ??
  22. It looks like the ball has already started rolling for tv deals. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/premier-league-fearful-multi-billion-21797256
  23. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8177615/Pay-cut-stand-Agents-PFA-advise-stars-against-wages-sacrifice.html Twats like Taylor aren't in the real world. He doesn't realise that the long term damage will be irreparable to many of his members and his comments will turn more away from football as we see families desperately struggling in the current situation. I sincerely hope that when football eventually returns it will signal the start of a sanitisation of what has become an ogre.
