  1. I heard on QUEST today that we have never lost a Tuesday night game under Mowbray at Ewood. So the next night match at Ewood is against Stoke on a Wednesday to pander to the red button whim.
  2. Millwall had a different approach to playing Fulham than we did though. There was more intensity to their play and this, particularly in the first half didn't allow Fulham to get their passing game going. I think Mowbray set us up differently last Saturday and adopted different tactics which was done out of respect/fear of Fulham.
  3. Millwall went after them last night and got a point and from what I saw could have nicked it. Mowbray signalled his intent in his Thursday press conference and his selection.
  4. I like The Valley. It's atmospheric, accessible and the big pitch usually means open spaces for both teams. As for Charlton I'm glad they beat Forest last night for two reasons. They might be over confident and the expectation of their fans will be to win. The longer the game goes on with no goals will suit us and although I don't really like predicting results because of all the variables I really fancy us there.
  5. One really important aspect of last nights win and performance was the balance of the team. Personally I would have swapped Downing and Bennett but that aside we had players who know the positions they are playing which gave us a solidity from a defensive point of view and good options going forward. Even when Brereton came on he played down the middle and pretty much everybody agrees he had arguably his best twenty minutes in a Rovers shirt. With Gallagher being out for the Charlton game it will hopefully force Mowbrays hand.
  6. Exactly Matty. The gross overreaction to a few boos at Birmingham and him allegedly crying was a great example of how some fans take the moral high ground, particularly on social media. Last night there were chants of 'Brereton' from the Blackburn End.
  7. Chuffed as always to win a football match and the goal difference looks far better now. I just couldn't see any team scoring after seventy minutes so to get three was really good. In truth Hull were easily the worst team I have seen this season and a fifteen minute spell at the start of the second half apart never really threatened. But in fairness we stuck at it and got the points on the board with a clean sheet and no apparent injuries. However I couldn't understand playing Downing on the right and Bennett on the left for an hour or so. Downing was good but I just feel he would have been more effective on the left. Hopefully the players get a day or two off now to rest and recover for two tough away games.
  8. I didn't forget Cunningham, just didn't mention him. As I intimated in my earlier post your post would have more validity of you wrote it close to the end of the season. As it is most of the half of the team have only been missing for a few games right now.
  9. You make it sound like the injured players have missed all the season so far. I'll give you Dack but Evans got injured in January 9th and has missed four games, Rothwell got injured on January 28th and has missed two games so far, Holtby got injured on February 1st and now Rankin-Costello. And in the period since the Evans injury we have won two, drawn one and lost one. Evans, Holtby and Dack are out for the season and that will undoubtedly have an effect but up until a few weeks ago Mowbray had a full squad so to say without them we would probably be in the top six now is stretching it.
  10. And an enjoyable read it is too. I would recommend it to anybody who follows Rovers and only £1.50.
  11. I was speaking to somebody who has watched Rovers for decades who never misses a game and said he saw something from a Rovers player (or any player for that matter) that he has never seen before. During a break in the recent QPR match Gallagher came over to the bench for a replacement hair band as his had snapped. Game's gone. ??
  12. It's simple really I think. Either don't read them or don't respond. Lots of debates carry on daily which you are often involved in. That's the nature of a message board.
  13. It is talked about a lot because it's an important issue in many fronts. Here's a suggestion - if you don't like it don't respond!
  14. The debate after was whether a Rovers player touched the ball on it's way to Lenihan. Apparently it has been proven that he is onside when the pass/shot is made but in an offside position when he gets the ball. It's really difficult to see if anybody does touch it so pretty much inconclusive I'd say.
  15. I commented on that at the time. No anticipation, no movement and less desire to head it. I don't hold it against the lad because of how much we paid for him, that's not his fault. He just doesn't justify even a place on the bench.
  16. Fulham deserved to win as they controlled the game for large parts without really creating too many chances. We ended the game with players all over the shop in what looked like disorganised chaos. Interestingly when we had all the strikers on Fulham went to a back five and Parker looked worried. Perhaps if we had been more adventurous from the start we might have got something. I don't think anybody played particularly well and a couple aside nobody was particularly bad. I felt sorry for JRC as he looked uncomfortable in the role he was given. Gallagher once again looked like an expensive flop. As the end of the season gets closer the real worries for me start with loan players going back and out of contract players who will need replacing. Using the awful January window as the yardstick I can't see us really improving the squad with new players. I would like to see some of the youngsters given game time as we paddle along in mid table.
  17. He also said they have three separate audits that are undertaken but he didn't say who by. He also said the EFL are satisfied with the accounts.
  18. Excellent news that Tony will be on the pitch before kick off. Hopefully everybody makes an effort to get there slightly earlier to give him a real ovation.
  19. I went last night and the fear that many have regarding our finances (including FFP) didn't seem to be a big concern to Waggott and Cheston. Cheston doesn't seem comfortable being questioned but Waggott is quite relaxed and open. He talked about honesty and humility and he came across that way. I have spoken to him previously and he listened and took on board my suggestion. In short I trust him. I spoke at length to another senior figure and he asked me about the negativity towards the owners. I told him in my view they need to explain why certain events happened. I said they need to be contritional if they are ever to regain trust and perhaps reach out to lapsed supporters. He said he would feed that back but in all honesty I can't see it happening. Mowbray is passionate about football and comes across as having real enthusiasm for his job and the players. He gets carried away I feel at times but I can see why players want to play for him. I haven't changed my view that he has taken us as far as he can. I wasn't totally enamoured with Radio Lancashire and Andy Bayes who let certain agenda items drift along. I thought the debate about where away fans are and recycled cups were inconsequential to the meeting and maybe more appropriate for the Fans Forum. All in all it was pretty much as I expected having spoken to people who have been previously.
  20. I hadn't picked up on the numbers being the same - good spot. How would that work in a 'working model'?
  21. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/inside-blackburn-rovers-finances-what-17494957 This article pretty much lays bare our financial issues. With FFP looming large I can't see anymore big spending either on transfer fees or wages. It mentions 154% of income spent on wages alone now. In my view the only way out of this mess is bringing the kids through and selling them on.
  22. Indeed he did at Wigan. That was season ending too. I also remember Lenihan going up front after treatment at Southend in our first League One match for what was a broken metatarsal. In those two instances we had used all our subs but irrespective it seems like had practice.
  23. Cunningham, Rothwell and Holtby all returned to the pitch after lengthy treatment for their respective injuries. I really don't know if going back on exacerbated their injuries medically but I can't honestly see them going back on as a good thing. Anybody know if this would have been the case?
