  1. We will soon have many key players out of contract and Mowbray admits cash is the stumbling block. Therefore it makes little sense to me to spend money on other teams players when we can't offer our own assets more. Somehow our priorities are all wrong.
  2. It does - that's why I said the market we are in. I honestly can't see us signing anybody who fits the criteria laid out.
  3. Won't work permit and visa issues prevent a signing from Europe in the market we will be in? https://www.90min.com/posts/how-footballers-qualify-uk-work-permits-brexit
  4. I had an idea for a twenty (or something) game season ticket for shift workers and schoolchildren who can't always get to night matches. You buy the seat and use it for any twenty games and give the club seven days notice if you can't go and they can then sell the seat. Anything over the twenty games have to be paid for but perhaps some concession on the price.
  5. I think I am right in saying that stadium maintenance and improvement doesn't have an effect on P&S. Our owners who allegedly never refuse anything should be approached and affirm the statement that the woman Rao made when they bought us. It was something about respecting Jack's legacy.........
  6. Little being the operative word. He is under 5'5" which ordinarily wouldn't be a problem but in my view we have too many small players. Looking at West Brom on Saturday and reading lots of comments it's fair to say that their physicality will be a huge asset to them this season and could be the main factor in promotion.
  7. Has there been any explanation from the club as to why the big screen doesn't seem to work? There is no graphics with line ups or replays of goals and near misses.
  8. I too am unconvinced by Pickering. He seems willing to get forward but it's some of his defending that worries me. In the four league matches far I don't think I've seen him block a cross. There was one yesterday when he was tight to the West Brom player over by the corner. For me it's relatively easy to get a block in in that situation but he didn't and a dangerous cross came in. It's early yet but given the propensity of his predecessors to allow crosses to come in it appears that our coaches don't see an issue with it.
  9. I can't stand Waggott but why would he lie about that? Saying the deal is done, even by his standards is pretty concrete to me.
  10. That's how I read it. Not a Northern or Midlands club and accompanied by his parents.
  11. Waggott was rumoured to have been in one of the lounges yesterday telling people that a loan deal is done for a 'number 10' who flew into Manchester on Friday with his parents to have a look around. Two clues are there in that he flew and with his parents. He said it was to be announced on Monday. He also said a left back is coming in next week on loan.
  12. If it's the one I'm thinking of Dolan actually dropped into our penalty area and Brereton stayed up. Mowbray told them to swap positions. At that stage of the game both or even a third player should have stayed up.
  13. Against an experienced, physical side like West Brom it was always going to be difficult but handing them a goal in the first minute set the tone and gave us a mountain to climb. It was particularly galling that the goal was given to them. I'm still scratching my head to try and figure out what Lenihan was doing. We huffed and puffed but the second goal was a real killer for me and although we pulled a goal back I can't deny that West Brom were far better than us and deserved their win. The result highlights what is going to be a long, hard season for us with a wafer thin squad lacking some experience. Team work and effort will get us so far but a lack of experience and quality will cost us more and I still believe we will be scratching arousing the bottom six soon. I don't understand why Mowbray didn't bring Butterworth on instead of Dolan. He has a lot more physically to offer and would have been a better option. Mowbray was reverting to type again when West Brom had a set piece or corner. He left nobody up and the likes of Clarkson were back defending. It also allowed them to flood the penalty area and no out ball for us.
  14. Or three, four even. He should excel against some of the lumbering giants masquerading as footballers for that lot.
  15. A close friend was at last nights game and eulogised about Rovers saying we were the better team until the last knockings when some indiscipline kicked in. No Rovers fans were officially allowed in but he assumed that a group who celebrated the goals were players families.
  16. Put me down for Middlesbrough on August 28th please Mike.
  17. The huge wages to turnover issue has happened under the watch of Mowbray and Waggott so for him to use that as an excuse for another failure is just not acceptable but some of the gullible will buy his nonsense. Using rough calculations I reckon it's around £40m.
  18. My granddaughters card has just been delivered with a covering letter signed by 'Ticket Office'. Surely they could have put Waggotts signature on it as the Chief Executive of the club to show gratitude for actually buying one. It's the little things that matter and things like that irritate me. FOW
  19. I don't often agree with Mowbray but his singling of the fans last night was absolutely right. As at Millwall on Saturday they were really vocal and encouraged the players throughout the two matches.
  20. Well done mate. Your honesty is great and will stand you in good stead for the future.
  21. Winning is everything in this game and it's far more enjoyable if it happens with a late goal. The performance wasn't great but I honestly don't get too worked up about how we play if we win. There are some tough times around the corner for us so I am savouring the wins. Individually I thought Carter was great tonight and I'll be unhappy if he is sent out on loan again. He is ready for Championship football and his defensive versatility cannot be understated. The collective was far better than the individual parts tonight but who can honestly complain at a win. As a slight aside I'd forgot what a ball ache away night matches are with the vagaries of our motorways. Diversions, lane closures and millions of traffic cones I haven't missed one bit.
  22. And Ben Arentoft was indeed Preben.
  23. His proper name is Cornelius.
  24. Cornelius is missing for Sunderland tonight. Amazingly he is injured having gone off on Saturday.
  25. I thought there were several strong performances last night in an enjoyable watch. As somebody said earlier both sides missed plenty of chances but in the bigger picture we have some real promise coming through. Phillips is only 16 and he was probably the biggest player on the pitch. His touch, pace and passing were really good and I'd be surprised if he isn't joining the first team training sessions this season. If he continues his progress I hope the club really don't look to sell him for a comparatively meagre amount or that some greedy agent doesn't ruin him.
