  1. Tomorrow sees is play that lot in the under 23 PL Cup at Ewood. As it's against that lot I thought it deserved a thread of it's own. Beating them in any game is important to me. Hopefully we will give them a good stuffing and send them back to their cobbles sulking. I got my tickets on Monday and was told they have 500 and will be in the Darwen End over by the Riverside. Anybody else going?
  2. In the interests of fairness it's only right that Mowbray deserves some real credit for tonights win. I was certain that we would press high up to stop Brentford playing out from the back but we let them and pressed in midfield. They didn't really get their passing game going which really hurt them. We were good all over the pitch and the tempo was much better than of late with some (at last) balance to the team. Rothwell showed what he has been promising for ages and it's a while since we had a player running (and beating) opponents using sheer pace. He simply has to start on Saturday. Happy with six points out of six but my feet are firmly planted on the ground.
  3. I didn't have a problem with Raya being sold as he had too many mistakes in him. However if we are to improve we simply have to buy players who are better than the outgoing players or current ones. Quite simply we haven't with this one.
  4. As I said earlier that is another debate. My point about players more deserving of Chapman was the pertinent one.
  5. I too was skulking back to my car with my young nephew. We were behind an elderly couple, clearly United fans, when I heard the man say "I'm really disappointed not to keep a clean sheet today". He was bloody serious too. My ABU feelings intensified there and then. On the way home I rang 5live or Talk Sport and suggested that all the Rovers fans be reimbursed by the players or club. Dion Dublin said if he was our captain he would be organising that right now but the no mark presenter thought it was a ridiculous suggestion.
  6. If someone gets a chance then it really has to be somebody deserving of it. Whether anybody does get an opportunity is a different debate.
  7. Surely you have to earn the right to play. Not playing him due to his poor attitude and performances is one of the few things I agree with Mowbray about.
  8. I saw him against Accrington in the Lancs Senior Cup and on the evidence of that he shouldn't have got near the first team. I also saw him in a League Cup match this season against Oldham (I think) and he didn't do anything to justify him playing in the league. I speak to people who watch the under 23's regularly and nearly all of them question his attitude and commitment (as Mowbray did). I don't think he should be ahead of the likes if Butterworth or Rankin-Costello who have pretty much played consistently well. I think quite a few are calling for him to play based on a few appearances in his first spell.
  9. But surely that chance has to earned. If he gets picked ahead of others who have been far better in attitude and performance what message does that send out. We can't afford any more passengers in the first team let alone one with a seemingly bad attitude.
  10. I too believe he is a principled guy and resigning is the way he will leave. I do think though that he will seek assurances for his staff either financially or through security of employment.
  11. Given his rationale for leaving Downing out on Saturday surely he can't start him on Wednesday against a Brentford side that will be equally young and athletic. Or will he.....................
  12. The Blackburn End chanting 'Mowbray sort it out' made me chuckle. It's because he can't sort it out that we are in this position. He seems to be a little sensitive over what really was a tame reaction when quite easily the heat could have been turned up. After forty years in the game he should know how fans react to a succession of poor performances and results.
  13. In a nutshell he is stubborn and will persist to try and prove himself right. It's one of his most annoying traits where he has to be right because he has been in the game forty years (I don't know if he ever mentioned that!) and he knows best.
  14. He was playing against a five foot six fullback and the tactic was to win the long diagonals or Waltons kicks and head it back across into the penalty area. How many times did that actually happen? In all honesty I can't remember one. And yet Mowbray, not for the first time persisted with it (whats Einstein's definition of lunacy?). That's not Gallagher's fault though. I don't particularly rate him but the manager should at least have the sense to put him where he can be more effective. Mowbray makes a simple thing so complicated, often to the detriment of the team.
  15. I'm really struggling to see what Brereton's strengths are? What have you seen to say such a thing?
  16. I and many others believe that the only way Mowbray will leave is if he does it of his own volition. We are £175m in debt which is rising each season, we have no leadership in the boardroom, we have (Dack aside) no discernible assets on the field, the ground is shabby and a plethora of other things. We have spent £12m on two young strikers who we would struggle to give away. To address most of the above we need Premier League football and the vast majority feel that under the current set up (on and off the field) we haven't got a chance. I would like to say that at least we are treading water but we are not - we are regressing. There was more talk of relegation yesterday around where I sit because the reality of where we are as a club is biting. Can Mowbray deliver a promotion? So to go back to my point I don't believe under the current ownership and structure Mowbray will be sacked. He has ingratiated himself on the owners and pretty much put himself at the top of the Ewood power base. So when people plead within to walk they believe it will be his decision.
  17. Lots of supporters feel that Mowbray will have us in a relegation scrap and possibly take us down this season which is why the general belief is that change is needed now. And if he does take us down that will be two relegations on Mowbrays watch.
  18. I think then that your logic is skewed. Taking it a step further should they not have sacked Coyle using your logic?
  19. So in essence you are saying that Mowbray should be here for the duration of Venkys tenure (however long that may be) because you don't trust them to appoint somebody better.
  20. I think there is an arrogance amongst the Rovers hierarchy and, despite protestations from fans they believe they are right. One of Waggotts briefs was to grow the fan base but he has failed miserably and one of the reasons is that he thinks he knows best. He should be setting up a task force of supporters to do brainstorming sessions and try some of the suggestions. I'd love to know how much his Waggott Tax has cost the club this season in lost revenue. One of the reasons I saw to justify it was that the catering could be inadequate if lots of people buy tickets late on. You couldn't make it up.
  21. I honestly don't think I've seen a Rovers team have as many bad touches on the ball as I saw today. That's not just first touches neither. I remember Bell had three bad touches in one incident today. It was so basic and elementary it was embarrassing. Similarly we hardly won a second ball today as we toiled against the bottom team.
  22. You are preaching to the converted here my friend. You need to email the club and mark it fao Steve Waggott and ask him for the justification.
