  1. Mowbray wasn't asked specifically about that, he offered it up as some kind of excuse like it's real hardship. In my view he says things like that to garner sympathy. He is in an extremely well paid job but nobody forces him to do it. The family circumstances are entirely his own click.
  2. When the pitch and weather was at it's absolute worst what did he do? He had the first team training on it for several days. He's become a living, contradictory parody who insults our intelligence.
  3. Bennett is being offered a new deal on sentiment and the fact Mowbray sees his as as a lieutenant in the dressing room, certainly not on ability and what he offers football wise. Mowbray has previous in this respect and has cost the clubs hundreds of thousands in doing so but in his autonomous way isn't answerable to anybody.
  4. Blame the pitch, lack of atmosphere but no criticism of the biggest factor in our poor home record - himself. He gets his honesty, hard working mantra in though. His lack of humility does him no favours. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19304060.rovers-working-hard-provide-best-possible-pitch---mowbray/
  5. Well done for at least doing something. Anything is better than nothing and on the back of the ESL uproar and protests who knows.
  6. We are at cross purposes - the lad I know is a keeper.
  7. I know one of them. I worked with his mum and dad and still (Covid permitting) meet his mum for a coffee. He used to sit close by us in the Family Stand so he is a Rover too. 👍👍
  8. https://www.bbc.co.uk This is a really novel idea from Ajax. Their season ticket holders will be delighted I'd guess.
  9. Skip is regularly on the money with information about the youngsters and particularly JRC. It's incredibly poor management to treat one of our best prospects in such a shoddy way. Waggott, Venus and Pasha's grubby fingerprints are all over this.
  10. Sad to say I completely agree. The structure at Rovers just doesn't lend itself to making such decisions as sacking Mowbray and his staff. Pasha just wants a quiet, easy life and doesn't seem to want to upset Waggott and Mowbray and I'd guess his lines of communication to India reflect that.
  11. The last decade under these owners has been thin and the line 'support your team no matter what' is no more than blind loyalty. Next season I believe our attendances will be at a 30+ year low and no doubt it will be spun as primarily down to Covid but more and more long term supporters have just had enough. The truth is the product has deteriorated and the nobody in any authority seems to care. We have a ridiculous structure whereby the Chief Executive can't call the shots but has to go through the owners representative who then has to get the owners permission. The manager isn't good enough and his coaching staff reflect him. The Brockhall farce sticks in the craw for many who simply do not trust the current incumbents to make the best decisions in the interests of Rovers. As for the owners having to put their hands in their pockets then tough. They are reaping what they have sown.
  12. I still believe we have a top six squad completely undermined by an average manager and staff. What is particularly galling to me is that this seasons Championship is the poorest standard I can remember and we haven't laid a glove on it. Too much chopping and changing of personnel and tactics have become a trademark of Mowbrays tenure and have particularly led to a really inconsistent season. It seems that Mowbray is often caught between two stools as to what style of play we adopt. He continually talks the talk about a passing game and quite often we do have more of the ball but in reality it means nothing. Results are all that matter and Mowbray just can't consistently deliver them. And for that reason he should go but I firmly believe he will be here next season. His infuriating interviews are also worth mentioning.
  13. I have been told today that Bell is not getting a new deal and will leave with Evans, Holtby and Downing along with the loan players returning to their parent clubs. Johnson has been offered a new one year deal. The person who told me thought Bennett had been offered a new deal but couldn't be certain. He also said there is a strong possibility that Nyambe played his last match for us today.
  14. You're not Ian Holloway with that analogy are you? 😂😂😂
  15. Six of the substitutes probably won't be here next season. Building for the future
  16. Despite the tub thumping by Infantino about the ESL UEFA have let down supporters all over with the paltry fines handed out. These clubs will reach down the backs of their sofa's for the money. Here was a real opportunity to stamp their authority on the game and hammer these clubs but once again the weaknesses of football governance is exposed. Shame on them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57031372
  17. According to Wikipedia Evans has started 184 league games since he signed in 2013. In the same period he has played 41 games for Northern Ireland. Roughly for every 4.5 games he played for us he has played a game for Northern Ireland. I know Wikipedia is always the most accurate but I'm sure we all understand the theme here.
  18. You could well be right but who would pay his rumoured £15k each week? He is a crock and I don't think a very good player neither. One of two things will happen I believe. He will be here for the remainder of his contract and play a nominal number of matches in between injuries or we will pay him off. My money is on the latter.
  19. He is desperately trying to prove a point to justify the money he has wasted on Ayala. He has lots of previous in this regard and he will sell it to the gullable set who hang on his every word as a huge positive for next season. His shame has no bounds.
  20. I agree. Arguably the most high profile actor involved and we didn't actually see him live. Mercurio is playing the long game here.
  21. It is sums up the lack of absolute ambition and laziness at Ewood if Bell is offered a new which will presumably be on better terms. Even as a back up I think there are younger, better players in the lower leagues who would be an improvement on Bell. I have no issues with Bell, he is probably living his football dream but giving him a new deal just sends out completely the wrong message to supporters, many of whom are already wavering with regard to next season.
  22. https://footballleaguefc.com/blackburn-rovers-2019-20-player-wages/amp/ I wasn't sure where to put this so feel free to move it if there is a more appropriate thread. I don't know the accuracy of it so please don't shoot the messenger.
  23. Sheffield Wednesday, arguably one of the poorest Championship teams have just conceded a penalty (albeit missed) by trying to play out from the back. It's crazy expecting players with clear inadequacies to play in a way massively above the level of their abilities.
  24. It's Steve Cooper whose father is a close friend from our refereeing days.
  25. I can't agree on the coaches. How many players have improved under Mowbray and his coaches? Dack, Armstrong? After that I'm struggling. A coaches role is to improve individuals and integrate team plans. I have been told that we do hardly any work on set pieces, offensively and defensively. This is borne out by a lack of goals at one end and a plethora of goals at the other end. My friends son manages a Championship club and he tells me there is a huge emphasis on set plays and he reckons it can be a difference between success and failure. The evidence doesn't lie here.
