Some great memories here - thanks Gav. I noticed there is only fifteen players on the first team squad picture. Compare that to the mega sized squads we see now. -
Brockhall STC - planning permission application ?
arbitro replied to Mattyblue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Anger from the residents of Brockhall Village. https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/campaigners-say-blackburn-rovers-development-19953691 Waggott has said that the money from the sale of the STC would fund the development of the current Academy site, in fact the owners might have to be approached to stump up more cash if needed. So really what is the point of all the upheaval? The only positive suggestion from Waggott was that the manager could walk across couple of pitches to watch the youngsters train. It's a two minute drive or five minute walk. -
Buckley is a player for me. I formed that opinion early on after seeing him play for the under 23's. His ability to ghost past opponents and play on the half turn are natural traits and something that should improve over time. Of course he needs to sharpen up some aspects of his game but I haven't seen anything that a good coach can't work on with him to make him better. My real doubt is the standard of the current coaches.

Swansea 9th March at Home
arbitro replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Another really good performance on the back of the Millwall match and one in which we can feel hard done to for not getting three points. Once again, in my view the catalyst was young Dolan who is leading by example with a huge appetite for hard work to go with his unquestionable skill. His infectious attitude seems to be rubbing off on others as once again we are pressing high up the pitch and not allowing our opponents any time on the ball, so much so that the service to Lowe and Ayew was virtually non existant. I'm actually frustrated at the moment as this way of playing seems to have been sidelined for a few months in favour of a more laboured, predictable style of play, in my opinion costing us several points in the process. And this is on Mowbray for me. -

I enjoyed our performance which was reminiscent of ur early season matches with an energy, intensity and high press which has been missing for months. And the catalyst for me was Dolan. The example he set was inspirational in my view, particularly in a position I didn't think he would excel in. However from a manager perspective it doesn't change my view in any way. In fact in a strange way it strengthens my view as for a few months we have been inept and timid and that has be laid at Mowbrays door for me.

Championship Season 2020 - 2021
arbitro replied to Hoochie Bloochie Mama's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I can put that notion to bed straightaway. I speak to Keith several times a week and believe me he has never ever met or spoke to any of the current crop of Championship referees. It's actually over 25 years since he retired and I am the only ex or current referee he speaks to. Warnock will look at any aspect, however bizarre and tenuous after a defeat. I actually spoke to him after yesterday's game and he laughed at Warnocks nonsense. By the way Warnock son is an agent but that doesn't mean he gets the pick of his sons clients. -
Nothing Mowbray does surprises me now. I don't like the saying 'he's lost the plot' but I really think it sums him up.
-
Nyambe dropped again because his numbers are high or in other words he is working too hard for Mowbrays liking. And if I am correct JRC has only had one under 23 game since returning from injury. Absolute disgraceful treatment of Nyambe by Mowbray.
-
I just don't see where any goals will come from without Armstrong. He has more goals himself than the other four have together.
-
I can almost hear Del Boy now in Mowbrays interviews - 'this time next year we'll be millionaires'. It's an insult to every Rovers fan how he is trying to manipulate the owners through the media. Surely successful business people can see through bluff and bluster..................... Perhaps not then.
-
I too think we will have enough to stay up but the thought of being in a scrap worries me. The real fear for me is next season when we will have a squad of which half could be new players whilst still stuck with the likes of Ayala. That could really be a relegation fight from day one. I'm sure in my own mind though that Mowbray will still be the head honcho.
-
He played in a league game for their under 23 team. My understanding is that you can't be registered for two clubs unless it's a loan deal.
-
I didn't think you can play for another club whilst under contract, even as a trialist. We can't loan him out either as the window is closed. The only option I believe is terminating his deal.
-
He played for their under 23's on Monday against West Brom. He was named on the official team sheet but down as 'trialist' on the PL website. A friend was at the game and said he played well. For him to be having a trial elsewhere we must have cancelled his contract and paid him up.

Reading v Rovers. March 2nd 2021, 8pm.
arbitro replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
eWe are just so easy to play against and since our early season flurry (albeit against teams out of form and with ten men) it seems that teams are generally happy to let us have the ball in our own half but squeeze us as soon as we advance forward. We haven't really got anyone in defensive or midfield positions who can accurately pass the ball over any distance which invariably means safe, easy and short passing which just doesn't hurt any teams. Our offensive set pieces are poor. It just doesn't look like any work on them. Two corners yesterday ended up back in our own half. -
This deal was done two weeks ago but Rovers said it wasn't to be announced straight away. My suspicion is that we tore his contract up and as a free agent he could sign for LA and join them for pre season. It's a strange way of doing business but then not much should surprise us any more.
-
Well....... Mowbray had a dream To build a football team Had lots of money but he blew most of it on crap No one at the back Still shit in attack We Blackburn Rovers We're on our way down.
-
I honestly think that some fans really believe that any criticism of the club by them is almost being disloyal and therefore pretty much defend anything or in some cases don't offer an opinion. Thinking back to the protest times many fans were critical and sometimes aggressive towards those protesting and I really think that some of the fans you are referring to fell into that category.
-
Kudos to you for coming on here and putting your opinion forward. I'd like to ask you what confidence you have in Mowbray when tactically we have been poor this season aside from the early part. Also bizarre team selection and set up gives me no confidence in him going forward - are you happy with them aspects of his management? Sentiment has no room in professional sport and many who want him to be given more time point to a promotion from League One s a reason to give him longer. With a budget which eclipsed all the others he should have got us up. You actually mentioned the budgets of several Championship teams as an argument to justify our mid table position so to praise Mowbray for getting us up with a huge budget is hollow in my view - it was expected. Waggott said last week that if you stand still in football you fall behind but yet he and others are happy to stick with a manager who has us treading water and in performance terms have been mediocre.
-
The two are intrinsically linked. We can see with our own eyes what he does during a match but his commenis continually during the week and post match give us an insight into his mindset and thoughts. If we were winning games I could stomach his comments but with the drivel he is coming out with it gives fans another stick to beat him with.
-
He says fans have been critical of some young players but he has publicly called out several of them for the world and his wife to read. He also says he doesn't read papers or social media but is aware of fans being critical of him. And he has finally put the 'humble Tony' theory to bed with his latest inane drivel.

Brockhall STC - planning permission application ?
arbitro replied to Mattyblue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I didn't hear any mention of the cash relating to the sale as if he was deliberately avoiding the subject. It's just a charm offensive in my view after the extensive criticism he and the others have had this week. I don't believe he would have gone public at all until it was a done deal had the news not broke last weekend. Anybody notice his dry mouth when he was talking. -
And your first sentence is my point about a new manager coming in. He needs time to assess and plan so now is the time. Summer is too late.

Mowbrays Successor
arbitro replied to Darwen Rover 007's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We might as well keep Mowbray as give the job to a coach for the rest of the season. If (big if) he gets the boot a new manager has to assess the squad, sort out contracts, plan pre season and target new signings. Time is really of the essence here.
