  1. I have seen Watford a few times even as recently as Friday and they try and play out from the back. It will be an eye opener for them walking out on that. It could be advantageous to us if Mowbray doesn't over complicate things. Plenty of balls over the top for Armstrong to chase would be the order of the day for me with a high press out of possession.
  2. I would have thought so. It has been steady rather than the incessant heavy rain we saw before the Swansea game.
  3. The Ewood swamp might be a bit of a leveller tonight after a day of rain.
  4. I once heard a comedian say "Don't get married, just find a woman you don't like and buy her a house." 😁😁😁😁😁
  5. It was Jack. I used to be so envious of them for having two regular goal scorers like them. They always seemed to score against us too.
  6. He has, according to his agent suffered multiple leg injuries and is in surgery. He was cut from the wreckage by the Fire Brigade. SSN showed a picture of his car and it's A real mess.
  7. I'm not sure Lenny. It looks like we were playing flying goalkeeper though 😁😁
  8. John Waddington on the left and Faz on the right but who is the one in the middle? Smash and Grab playing for the Gas are also in the picture.
  9. That was Ronnie Tattersall. I remember playing against him when he played for CWC Engineering in the Darwen Amateur League. Last I heard he was living in the Lake District.
  10. I was referring to the prices in a development in Darwen.
  11. Thanks Ian. £60k is around 20-25% of the average price of a house on this new development.
  12. The annoying thing is that all the information to start an in depth article is on this website. Lots of links, facts and JHRovers excellent post containing the Coventry angle in chronological order. At the very least they should be exploring Venus and Waggotts involvement in the 'sale' of Coventrys training ground.
  13. The whole Nyambe thing on Saturday just didn't sit right. When he came off he sat on the perimeter wall by the dugout with only Damien Johnson in shot with him. He clearly didn't go back to the changing room for treatment and didn't appear to have any ice on his hamstring. Then Mowbrays wild assertion post match that he might be out for months and yesterday we learn he could be fit for Wednesday. Very strange.
  14. There is a new development going on close to me and through a friend who knows the people who sold the land I was told they got £60k per plot. The Ribble Valley would be higher I guess but some of the ridiculous figures being banded about are, I suspect wide of the mark.
  15. This is what Mowbray said post match on Saturday about Nyambe: "I’m also more worried about Nyambe," he added post-match. "Somebody we have talked a lot about this week - a kid who works excessively hard and needed a break and yet the world seemed to question why Nyambe wasn’t playing - has now broken down and might be out for months. "It's his hamstring, you have to protect your players and people should just let the manager do their job." Now he might be fit for Wednesday. Moral of the story - Mowbray is a gobshite.
  16. I stand to be corrected but some of the clubs who have given up Academy status only play friendlies. Huddersfield downgraded their Academy for financial reasons and this could well be us in the near future. I have a recollection of the Academy costing £3m each season but that was a figure from a few years ago. https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/huddersfield-town-set-overhaul-academy-13629038
  17. One of the most irksome things about this is the almost underhanded way it has been done so far and, once again the shadowy figures lurking in the background. The naivete of some is astounding. If the downgrade goes ahead Rovers will be worse off, there's no going back. Just imagine the possibility of swapping our fantastic training ground for Mowbray to bring in another Brereton or Gallagher with the money.
  18. Just reading some of the excellent posts in this thread has got me wondering if the club would be happy to dispense with the Academy in the long run and focus on the seniors and under 23's. JHRovers terrific, detailed post shows it's nigh on impossible to do what they are saying in the proposal.
  19. I was referring to the quality of play and results which as far as I am concerned is the product.
  20. If the Venus theory is proven that will be akin to what Anderson did. I'm sick to death of people making lots of money out of my club whilst the product deteriorates.
  21. The pitch usage at both TC's is rotated to save them wearing out and keep them in good nick which is why there are so many, that is common at most training grounds. Fewer pitches means more use and rapid deterioration. I think pitch quality is one of the Cat One criteria.
  22. It isn't 30 years old, that's what the club put out yesterday and were wrong. A legacy is there to be respected and the woman Venky said they would respect Jacks legacy when they bought the club. Now, by selling one of the jewels in the crown they (and the likes of Waggott) are disrespecting us. Do you honestly think the money will be reinvested in the playing side? I'd wager it goes to offest losses. I think you're being incredibly naive. Do your know the Cat one status will be guaranteed after this move?
  23. Jack Walkers legacy being respected? Do you really believe this is progressive? How will it benefit the club?
  24. In my view the manager of any football club is the most important employee. All of our managerial appointments under this lot have, with perhaps one exception been on the cheap. Pretty much all out of work, damaged reputations and fallen stock. For the next appointment they have to push the boat out and get the very best available. When you think how much they have spunked on trash, second rate managers it's scary. That said I don't for one minute think they will get rid of Mowbray.
