  1. I haven't a clue but something doesn't and hasn't sat right about this from day one. You make it sound like it's normal to write off £20m. I have never heard of anybody who is happy to throw £20m into a black hole every year irrespective of their wealth. It's absolute madness especially when you consider it is a business thousands of miles away and they have no emotional attachment to.
  2. The owners could always try something really novel and put the club up for sale though. The fact they haven't even engaged with potential buyers (and are seemingly happy to write off millions each year) tells me that there is a lot more to this than meets the eye and there is something illicit about the whole thing.
  3. And yet some supporters are happy (and thankful) for them to do this and harm the future of the club even more. Nobody knows where this famous old club will end up with this lot and I think the inevitability will be administration.
  4. I listened to Gallagher spouting his usual nonsense on Radio Lancashire and he was saying 4-4-2 is out dated and nobody plays it anymore. I personally think it's a system that offers pretty much everything but it's not in vogue because the Guardiolas of this world don't play it. Alex Ferguson built all his success on two banks of four with two strikers.
  5. I said similar at the time. The Blackpool midfielder picked up a second ball thirty yards out with no Rovers players near him. He controlled the ball, took a few touches and played their side player in who scored. It was shockingly bad and in all honesty pretty much in tune with the whole first half when the basics seemed too much for us.
  6. I said yesterday that he had been hung out to dry by Mowbray and Magloires poor performance is being used as a screen for, once again Mowbrays inadequacies. Magloire just didn't show any full back instincts and positionally he was shocking but in the view of many there were a couple of better options but Mowbray ignored them. That's not with the benefit of hindsight neither, many said it in the lead up to the game. The first half was as bad as it has ever been under Mowbray but so many just don't see how he is costing us. The sycophants will blame anyone and anything without seeing the cause.
  7. How on earth did Burnley not get a penalty yesterday for an assault by Krul on Vydra? Dyche is becoming an expert at playing the victim card but yesterday he had a case. What on earth is the VAR looking at.
  8. But we should have got a result.
  9. I can't remember seeing a professional football match with two polar opposite performances from the same team. The first half was slow, lacked any intensity, no tempo, not winning second balls, giving up cheap possession, no real press and lots of individual errors. The second half we were better at every aspect of the game and perhaps should have won the game. Magloire was poor in the first half but I really think he was hung out to dry by his manager and Gallagher who simply has no defensive awareness. Carter and Ayala were bullied by the Madine but in the second half turned the tables on him. The question has to be asked of Mowbray why did this happen. No doubt some of the sycophants will point to the second half and praise him but for me he got it wrong from the start. The buck stops with him and the stark difference between the two halves is down to him, he is responsible for tactics, set up and basically getting it right. Today he didn't. And infuriatingly he praised the Blackpool supporters for getting behind their team in what was a clear swipe at us, the fans who had to endure such an abysmal first half. The bloke just doesn't accept any responsibility, his ego just won't allow it so he gives out veiled criticism of everyone and everything.
  10. I think this is a really but game today, perhaps not on paper but from Mowbray and the teams perspective. A poor performance and defeat could see a hostile reaction from the travelling fans. This is something that Mowbray hasn't really experienced as the majority of poor defeats recently have been in empty stadiums plus the away support tends to be more vociferous than the generally passive home support. I can see today as a big test for Mowbray if things start going badly. From a result point of view I think if Mowbray over reacts to Tuesdays defeat by going full Mowbray and complicating things it could end in tears. I think we need to keep it simple with a back four in place and Travis providing a screen. We need to press high on their passing game and not allow them to play through midfield. If they do we need to be able to win back possession and counter quickly.
  11. The likes of Barnsley, Millwall and Luton amongst others seem to manage on smaller gates without breaching or fearing P&S and have decent, well coached footballers. And we have over spent massively on many poor players and managers, many of the players aren't even ours. The high wage to income was amply supported by PL money which meant at the time of selling we were only £20m in debt. The business model over the past decade has been extremely poor whereby a fortune has been spent with nothing to show for it.
  12. Hayden Carter deputised admirably for Nyambe at right back earlier this season. Rather than change the formation he could have done that and Magloire could have slotted in alongside Ayala keeping a back four intact. And I think Magloire would have been more comfortable in a back four.
  13. Changing several positions and systems around for one substitution has become a bit of a trademark for Mowbray. It's probably the best example of him over complicating games and quite often has cost us points. Having watched a lot of football down the years I think he is the manager who needlessly complicates games more than any other. I defy anybody to tell me with certainty what system he was playing after making all his changes last night.
  14. I stopped believing a lot of what comes out of Ewood a long time ago Lenny but I mentioned it to show the contradiction of what Waggott says whichhe shouldbe accountable for. I think the only way they can get spending under any semblance of control is by cutting the wage bill even if that is to the detriment of footballing status of the club. And the main reason he has to do it is because he has hugely failed in his main objective which was to increase income.
  15. What about the cost of replacing the out of contract players should they leave? If we replace them with Championship ready players it could conceivably cost more. Replacing them with kids isn't the answer neither as that will only end one way. It all points back to Mowbray and Waggott being allowed to spend between 150 and 175% of our income on wages which, over their tenure amounts to tens of millions. And didn't Waggott boast about the massive offer to Armstrong to get him to stay. Surely that would have blown the alleged wage structure out of the water.
  16. I would love to know what we amount we are haggling about with the out of contract players. I'd be confident in saying it's not anywhere near what we are paying Leeds for the luxury of having one of their players grace our club.
  17. A disappointing night and I fear that there will be a lot more to come over the next few months as injuries, suspensions and lack of form really start to bite. I thought Huddersfield deserved their win as we only started to play in the second half. Defensively we started poorly and pretty much stayed like that for the entire game. Two goals away at on out of form team should be enough to get at least a point but our errors gifted Huddersfield three goals. I really think, on the back of this Mowbray will start to tinker again and put us on another of his death spirals. He will panic and start with wacky formations and tactics which has been a trademark of his time here after a poor defeat. His loan signings have been really poor and offer nothing. He brought three of them on tonight and left Butterworth on the bench despite calling him a 'demon' recently. The honeymoon is over I believe.
  18. Thanks to the owners the club is pretty much unreliable a buyer is out of the question unless it's a nominal sum after the owners have wrote the debt off. People have tried in the past to help them but grew tired of banging their heads against the brick wall the owners are. As I said if you really believe you can get through to them find but I certainly won't be doffing my cap to them.
  19. The only thing I know for sure about these owners is that they aloof and arrogant. They didn't reply to the Currie and Battersby offer a few years ago and from the recent information haven't even acknowledged the letter from Rovers Trust. I'm pretty sure that there have been others trying to contact them to absolutely no avail. The damage, as far as I'm concerned is irreparable and everything bad that has happened to our club in the last decade (and there is a lot) is down to them. If someone has got or believes they can get some dialogue with them then good luck to them. As far as I'm concerned the best form of redemption from them would be to write off the debt and let some other group who actually care to take over. Until that day I can't come close to giving them anything other that short shrift.
  20. They went off sale at Ewood a few minutes ago. Ring the club and ask them how many they have returned to Huddersfield which should help you with your decision.

  22. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58696866 Well done to Fulham Football Club. I really enjoy hearing about this kind of thing which in my view is too much of a rarity in football.
  23. Going down to yesterdays game on the bus I spoke to a bloke who I hadn't seen for a while and was never under the impression he was a Rovers fan. He told me he runs an under 7's team and as such they can buy ten tickets for £50, the only caveat being there has to be two adults in the group. I think this is a really good initiative that can perhaps kill two birds with one stone. Rovers are bringing in some income and hopefully some of the kids want to go again. Is anybody else aware of this?
  24. It's probably indicative of my low expectation of Mowbray but yesterday when I saw him call Carter back from his warm up I was convinced he would go to his ill fated back five and give some impetus to Cardiff. And if everyone is honest I think lots of fans had similar thoughts. I was, in a perverse way almost pleased when I saw he was coming on for Lenihan and there wouldn't be several positional changes and a change in shape. Overall I'm relaxed and generally enjoying the season but somewhere along the line I believe Mowbray will over complicate and over think things and make unnecessary changes. That's when we see the worst of him.
  25. I really enjoyed that. With our penchant for letting teams back in the games at Ewood this season the third goal for me was crucial and took the pressure away in that respect. As much as I have criticised Mowbray I have to credit him with his decision to play Dolan down the middle. I thought that up against the monsters centre backs he would have struggled but he was really good and they just couldn't handle him. I thought Buckley, Travis and Rothwell looked really good too but Ayala for me was our best player. Being totally honest I doubted whether he had the ability and desire but so far he has been our best player by some way. Brereton getting a hat trick will once again earn him the headlines but today was really about the collective. Note to Swag - get them deals done for our out of contract players. Potentially four of our starters could walk away in a few months for a pittance which would be ridiculous.
