  1. Tough game this. We only just scraped a win at home when we were on form. Barnsley have some quality with Chaplin and Mowatt always playing well against us. Much will depend on who is available but its not a game for semi-fit players or ones who are short of form or confidence. The defence pretty much picks itself as despite his poor showing on Friday, Branthwaite is still the best available (unless Ayala makes a swift recovery). Douglas or Bell at left back is a toss up with neither being too effective. Evans or Trybull to return? The main thing is that we set up properly with everyone knowing their job and position. Yes Tony we need a formation!
  2. Gallagher has had some success when he has played against Preston previously so may get the nod in front of Brereton. Midfield area is a concern with lack of anyone with creativity. Rothwell blows hot and cold and with Holtby out we are too reliant on Travis. Could we see Evans back?
  3. As much as Brereton has improved this season he is nowhere near Prem level. Chile international? Really? Two cracking goals with either foot from Chapman in League 1 may be his level. Maybe Brereton could do with a spell there.
  4. No iFollow today as the game is on Sky. if you don't have Sky you can buy a day pass from Now TV COYB
  5. Got no problem with this game being called off. Its not like we have a fully fit squad and are in form.
  6. We win tomorrow and potentially go into 8th. Its still doable to get into the top 6 but we need to find some consistency.
  7. Locked in and snowed in here in Huddersfield so thought I may as well start a match topic for this weekend’s game against Stoke. Weather not looking too promising for Ewood on Saturday, with heavy rain forecast which of course will guarantee the pitch to be even worse than it has been in recent matches. As for Stoke we know exactly what they are about having played them just before Xmas since when they have added a few players to their squad, the latest being Jack Clarke from Spurs, a promising wide player originally at Leeds. Lets hope we have a full back capable of handling him. Will Nyambe be available? Who knows? Hopefully Rovers bring in the lad from Everton to shore up the defence but its all a bit last minute with Rovers transfer dealings so don’t be surprised if we wait until January 31st! EDIT Seems the deal is now done and he will play on Saturday! As for the rest of the team, its likely to revert to the usual midfield but depending if Johnson is required in defence. Up front will be the usual suspects, Brereton, Armstrong and Elliott.
  8. IMO Armstrong going nowhere. Most certainly not to the Premier League for a massive fee. As for the badly needed centre back, as usual it will be an 11th hour signing on the last day of the window. We need one now i.e. before the Stoke match.
  9. Its not just Rovers fans affected by this. i believe Derby fans have been hit by the same daft decision. The money paid to EFL by season pass holders will go to the club anyway so Im not sure why they cant simply refund everyone? Unless they cant be doing with the hassle. Either way, the club is clearly in breach of contract (not that I suggest anyone taking legal action over this). Hopefully the club will offer refunds to those who request one.
  10. Pretty much clear of any snow near the stadium so barring any tea time blizzard we should be good to go

  13. BBC weather forecast saying it will turn to sleet then rain with a temperature of 3 degrees later.
  14. Thick snow here in Huddersfield. The game must be in danger of being called off
  15. Come on Waggy, I know there's a lot of despondency and depression around this message board but you can’t honestly believe in what you are suggesting. Most football fans are desperate to get back to watching live football. Hell, my son and his mate drove from Huddersfield today to watch AFC Darwen play! Yeah I know that’s taking enthusiasm a bit far! As for the game tomorrow. It will be tough. Town are no pushovers but aren't likely to put men behind the ball a la Stoke and Wednesday. Should be a good game.
  16. When Brereton is back Gallagher will be on the bench most likely. It’s not his fault that he is being played out of position but he and Mowbray need to ask themselves what they consider his best position to be? He’s a big lad so should be trying to outmuscle the big defenders but that rarely happens. As someone says he’s happier running with the ball and less happy scrapping for headers etc. In the box. The annoying thing is that Mowbray knew exactly what Gallagher was capable of before signing him so it’s not like any of this should be a surprise
  17. No one expected Johnson to do a great job yet he did, albeit that he didn’t come under a lot of pressure. No complaints despite a goal conceded. Our problems lie in being unable to break down strong, stubborn and well organised defences. We can have 100% possession but it’s no good if we can’t get the ball in the net. Losing Travis and Brereton have been big factors in our slump. Not saying we would have won all games but we would have posed more threat going forward. I wouldn’t rely on Dack’s return changing things dramatically but hopefully he can help the team. From a diehards fan’s point of view it hurts when we lose in such circumstances but the manager is paid to get results and he needs to sort it out.
  18. U23’s at Derby on Monday 7pm A live stream available on Derby’s website. Oh, Dack scheduled to play
  19. Sometimes I think that some fans actually want us to lose. OK, we didn’t play well last night but performances this season have generally been good. Let’s have one of them on Saturday
  20. Off topic but nice to see Brentford concede a penalty and have a man sent off at Watford. Identical to the penalty incident when Lenihan was sent off. Funny that Brentford weren’t too happy with the officials. Karma
  21. Just 2 games ago we were in with a chance of top 6 (if results went the right way). Just 2 defeats later we suddenly aren’t good enough. I don’t think anyone on here has said that we are one of the strongest teams in the league but as I said, the signs are there that we can still make a realistic challenge for top 6. Get our injured players back and let’s see where we get to. Mowbray is going nowhere this season and, if he was to, there is no guarantee that someone better would be appointed.
