    Semi Final

I reckon they would sell 30000 tickets Abbey. As would rovers, if we had been a nationwide club. EDIT: in fact, as a lower league club, we DID take 30000 to Wembley, for the full members cup final. Well 28000 to be precise.

200/300 people down at Ewood this morning. Baz is about 50 people away from being served at this point.

It might be worth a look. I'm just thinking about letting the Mancs and Geordies have the City centre to theirselves on the Sat night!

I realised it had been re-developed, I was wondering if it was the kind of place to have a meal and a few beers, or is it mainly commercial?

Me Baz and the Mrs will be there friday and Saturday. We were thinking about going down to Cardiff bay on sat night - anyone know if it's any good?
  8. Why is it always seen as criticism, when someone thinks a player might not be good enough? Pedersen has qualities, no doubt. Most of them from a dead ball, but his all round play leaves a lot of room for improvement. If he can't improve there, he wont make it - in my humble opinion. A lot of folk think he's already there.
  9. I would say he's slow. It looks like I'm the only one on here, who isn't convinced he's good enough.
  10. Another GREAT preview. Thanks to both of you.
  11. Didn't Dickov do the same for Leicester last season?
  12. Are we talking about the Earnshaw that usually sits on the bench at West Brom?

Try pm'ing Whittle Blue, he's been testing the water on a flight.
  14. The name Leyland, means low land. It's at sea level about 3 miles from the coast and bathes in the warm tropical breezes of the gulf stream. Unlike Burnley that chills in the cold shadow of the pennines.

Anyone remember the guy in the coracle, who used to paddle down the river to get the ball back?
  16. Don't call me den iscarriot, for nothing.
  17. C.C. - I'll have to start reading what I typed before I post. I didn't realise that I'd said the 60's 70's and 80's. I thought I'd only mentioned your entire history Burnley did indeed have an excellent side in the late 60's [i think. Don't think it lasted into the 70's, but might be wrong]. Infact, [whisper] I used to go on Turf moor around that time.[/whisper]. I saw the side that included ray Pointer in the early sixties and I saw a fair bit of the side that included Peter Noble, Leighton James and Paul Fletcher. They were a good team. So tell your husband, you've met a rovers fan who remembers and admits to watching a good Burnley team The rest of the 110 years you were rubbish though.
  18. I've had more encouragement from the last two away games - Everton and Liverpool, than I've had for many years. Two games against the two teams vying for the fourth champions league place. The pundits would have us believe that both those teams were below par against us. Garbage - they simply couldn't get enough of the ball to create anything. I can't remember the last time I went to an away game and never felt as though the home side was going to score, yet we never looked like conceding in either game. That says more about the new manager and both Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki, than anything. This isn't the best prem side we've ever had, but it's the side that plays more as a team than any other. It seems a long time ago that rovers were so vulnerable to being hit on the break. How often did we concede goals when Toogs, or anyone, lost the ball in midfield allowing the opposition to cut right through what remained of our defence. We lost the ball lots of times last night, on the edge of their area, but on the break, 'pool didn't even get to the half way line. Superb defending and superb coaching. We've got something to build on now. We've got a defence that is composed under pressure and a team that knows about the work ethics needed to achieve results against the top sides. Pretty football isn't enough.

More reason for playing it elsewhere, then Ricky. No consultation whatsoever.

    Semi Final

JW was talking last night, before he knew the final details. He suspected we would have to kick off early because of recent crowd trouble at Goodison, after a late kick off. As he also said, it's very difficult to argue when the reason being given for an early kick off, is for safety reasons. That's fair enough. Why though, can the other semi be played at 2-00. Wouldn't 2-00 be a better time for our fans?

    Semi Final

Might have missed this, but why is our game 12-15 and man U's 2-00? Could it be that the FA have worked out that is the best time for the newcastle fans and if so, who's considered the rovers fans?
  22. Great preview Bellamy, after stepping in at the last minute. Anyone remember this scoreline a few years ago - Rovers 5 - 5 Arsenal ? I do, I was there
  23. There was an interview with JW on radio lancs last night. I didn't catch it all, as I was travelling to Anfield. Part of the interview I heard was that Matty was not with the club at the moment, because of doctors advice. JW did say that he hoped Matt would be back with us next season. Anyone hear the full interview?
  24. I think you'll find that throughout the late 60s/70s/80s, in fact throughout almost the entire history of our two clubs, Burnley have trailed on all accounts. Having said that, I wouldn't like to fall out with C.C, she's one of the better Burnley fans that are brave enough to come on here and face the unwarranted abuse. Not wanting to fall out with you either Den...but hmmm when exactly did you start supporting rovers? Like I said C.C; I'm talking about the entire history of our two clubs, not just when your husband remembers. See Philipl's post above.
