  2. All Nixon is saying is that Wharton deal might, or might not go through - and the Maguire deal might, or might not go through. Fence sitting in the extreme.
  3. Maybe that 37yr old we signed could give it a go up front?
  4. Consider these points. Wharton wasn’t pushing to leave because he’d just signed a new, long term contract. If rovers were wanting to get the best price for their best young talent, surely they wouldn’t sell him at the end of January to probably the only bidder. Wouldn’t they wait until the summer where the market is much bigger? why would they sell him at the end of Jan when credible, quality replacements just aren’t there? There are only two possibilities for me. The owners are desperate for cash or they don’t know what they’re doing. I’ll go for the first option.
  5. Had an idea. Instead of selling every youngster worth anything at the drop of a hat, why not keep hold of them for as long as possible, they would give us a better chance of reaching the PL - then we could keep them and even add to them with even better players? How does that plan compare to the plan since JW died?
  6. Admin, do your work. Whenever the word “reinvest” is used, change it to “throw it away” - or something else of your choice.
  7. Well four goals and a couple of dozen olés always makes for a good night - whoever the opposition. Two leagues apart and it showed. A few returnees as well. Take the positives and be happy.
  8. He wasn’t bad, no. He made his name on the sticky, uncovered wickets.
  9. I’ve seen quite a lot of Hartley and like quite a few others didn’t see him as an England bowler. The main reasons being that he’s a finger spinner, bowls quickly - almost a medium pace bowler and doesn’t give the ball much air. He’s very flat. However, that combination, on that pitch and in those conditions worked brilliantly for him yesterday. That doesn’t make him an automatic international bowler yet but really great to see the lad do so well on debut and of all places - in India.
  10. Football clubs and administration. Interesting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administration_(British_football)
  11. I’m trying to remember when selling your best players ever worked for us. Buying good players certainly does. Selling them to pay a tax bill has no chance of working.
  12. I wasn’t talking about results Imy, simply about the type of player that we don’t have. Where are the “they shall not pass” players in our squad? Where are the hard men?
  13. Just watching first half of Leeds vs PNE. Its immediately obvious that north end are everything that we aren’t. They’re well organised, solid and most importantly appear on today’s evidence to have individual players that can go head to head with their direct opponent. They give nothing away. Comparing that to our squad is comparing chalk to cheese. Our problems seem fundamental to me and not something that can be solved overnight with a couple of cheap loans or freebies.
  14. Hi Devon. I have no idea what Venkys will do. Anything is possible. I’m trying to say that IF there were to be a call to Venkys to leave, maybe a United campaign, the call should be for them to sell the club. That would be the best outcome.
  15. Seems as though most posters would prefer the club going into administration and all that might come with that, than the owners putting the club up for sale. thats just a show of anger rather than what’s best for the club.
  16. What happens at other clubs has no bearings on Rovers.
  17. I know what @Paul Mellelieu is trying to say and he’s making a valid point. There are no guarantees of anything with administration. It’s easy to be so blasé about the effects. With Admin Rovers would drop like a stone. The preferable route out of this is what I posted earlier. That’s for Venkys to do their utmost to find suitable owners and hand the club over. I’m not saying it’s even possible to find anyone who could come close to putting the money in that they have done. I doubt that it is. It’s time for them to move on for sure. Administration won’t be something rovers would recover from for a very long time in my opinion - if ever.
  18. If Venky’s truly wanted the very best for our club, they should take a step back, look at the current situation regarding their ownership and difficulties in funding the club - and begin the process of looking for the right people, with the right backing, to take over from them - thereby taking as much risk out of this situation as possible. If not now, when?
  19. Maybe Bolton have someone in the reserves they could lend us?
  20. Congrats on the BRFCS article this morning. A really good piece of work that should clarify a few things - even/particularly for those who don’t frequent here.
  21. Blackburn Rovers football club failed to pay their due tax to HMRC. They were then told if they didn’t pay it, a winding up order for Rovers would be actioned. Venkys Needed to appeal to the Indian courts to be allowed to provide the funds. It wasn’t a given the courts would agree. These things happen all the time?
  22. I think the difference here is not just that the club was late with payments, but the fact that because of changes to Indian Law the club could very well have gone into administration without a successful legal appeal in India. That must have been very much in the balance for some time. It wasn’t just a routine thing that happens all of the time Glen. A few more detailed questions could rightly be asked of Waggott regarding the current and future situation.
