  1. How long does it take you to be able to judge a player Biz?
  2. Went to all those games Tyrone. Byrom was known in some quarters as the golden boy of football. Big mistake selling him. Plenty of strikers are regulars in their teams at Breretons age.
  3. question for people. what would you expect to see in a striker/forward that you had paid £7m for? I would expect to see either terrific pace, or excellent technique. I wouldn’t expect both for that money or in this league, but what other attributes would you expect for that money?
  4. I don’t know.
  5. It’s simple Mike. If Mowbray thought he was good enough to start, he would start him. He obviously doesn’t think he’s up to it. To be fair to Mowbray, he has to pick his best side. Playing players he doesn’t think are good enough, just to give the fans a look at him wouldn’t be at all professional.
  6. Haven’t seen rovers a lot lately, but for me after Saturdays performance, Williams wouldn’t start at left back again. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a left back taken to the cleaners by average players - as he was against PNE.
  7. I’m dismayed enough 47er thank you. However, if we must dissect - and there are good arguments about offside decisions ( or not) the fact is an average side like PNE managed to score two goals in the first ten - and two more afterwards. That’s quite a disgraceful performance if we are honest and especially if you’re the manager. It’s just not acceptable. Going into a local derby and falling over like we did is embarrassing. A few of the players went onto twitter to apologise to the fans afterwards, but personally I don’t fall for that. Don’t apologise, that makes no difference. Go out and perform a whole lot better than that, - that’s your answer. Just do it. Get on with it and that includes Mowbray. I believe you can. I believe you are better than that.
  8. Yesterday’s display just emphasised that for away games like PNE we need for a solid squad capable of playing 4-4-2 with Dack and Graham up front and options man for man on the bench - pretty standard stuff really. We seem to be quite a way from that. we are better than we were yesterday though.
  9. That statue of a bloke falling over in a puddle is crap as well.
  10. Well what a disappointment that was. Blooming north end as well? without going into too many details, we came out half asleep and totally unaware of PNE. Like we hadn’t considered they might be a threat. That formation leaves us far too open. No solidity in that midfield. Too many of them caught time and again wrong side of the ball. Quite a few looked like they didn’t understand the role they were meant to be playing. Armstrong totally ineffective wide left, might as well have played with ten men. Having said that the introduction of Graham made an impact and rovers better team second half. After we scored it looked like we would get something from the game. However, we were regularly caught all over the place whenever north end broke away. North end weren’t great that’s the disappointing thing for me. We never got hold of Wilson up front and that was our downfall. We were very naive today. Part of me thinks that we have better players than them, but north end fans would probably laugh at that comment. bottom line is we are - and can be much, much better than this.
  11. Now that surprises me because I always remember Andy McEvoy not moving to inside forward (or second striker) until later than that.
  12. North end relegated season after he retired. Never been back since despite their massive support. Even Blackpool made it.
  13. Willie Cunningham. Trained us for free for two or three seasons. Hard as nails even at the age of 50ish. Ex Scotland captain, used to rave about how they would give the ball to Finney in training and then taking a breather while he ran around with it for a few minutes. Even though he was a northender, he was a good guy.
  14. I do. To us living this side of Blackburn it’s the biggest Derby. We live amongst these northenders and have to tolerate the inane ramblings of how they’re such a big club - even though they aren’t, never have been or will be.
  15. Oh sorry 47er, yes I meant Venky. Why did they come in and do what they did? They didn’t know what they had - I hope they do now.
  16. It’s great to see so many rovers fans rejuvenated again. Why oh why, did you come in like a bull in a china shop. Look what you had at your finger tips.
  17. Maybe she couldn’t be bothered. All I know is that when I looked online as a non ST holder, it would only allow me to buy block L tickets. She was probably just using the same system.
  18. Well I got tickets. This is my first game for quite some time. Venky managed to pee off a supporter of 52 years so we’ll done to them. Rang up and got allocated block L. Asked for the centre blocks but was told that they were only going to ST holders, which is absolutely fine. ST holders should - and will always get looked after. Looking forward to it.
  19. Can’t imagine why I wouldn’t. In fact I used to regularly give opinions of academy players when I watched the youth team at Brockhall and at Ewood in the youth cup. I really don’t see a problem here. If it was high praise Brereton was getting, that would be 100% acceptable from those fans who think it’s too early to give any kind of opinion when it’s not a good opinion. Just roll with it, it’s football and it’s a messageboard.
  20. Well it’s a bit more than a couple of sub appearances, but why not? How long should they wait - what’s the magic number of playing minutes? im quite happy to say I haven’t seen any qualities at all so far. Which qualities have you seen?
  21. It might take a while to see if, or how a player can blend into a team, or if he can perform consistently, - but it doesn’t take very long at all to see what a players real qualities are. Heck, that should be apparent pretty much straight away. So, someone tell me what real qualities you’ve seen in the lad?
