Mowbrays Successor
Bigdoggsteel replied to Darwen Rover 007's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Literally thousands for those 3 who didn't make the step up or failed in doing so. I gave you the reasons why it's not the same. It's not complicated. Anyway, Steve Cooper bit of an upgrade to name him with the other 2 don't you think? You must have been stuck for names etc etc etc etc 🤣 -
Ya and get the gum shields in and the proper old school boots and studs on!

That's Steven Gerrard. His mere presence would get players to play for him. Of course it helps to have those foundations of coaching and managing, but it's a completely different situation managing a senior team. I meantion a few reasons above. I would prefer an experienced manager If we do make a change til the end of the season. Johnson would be straight in the deep end with no senior management experience. It would be a huge ask. -

It's not. One involves pressure, real pressure and scrutiny. Media obligations, dealing with high paid professionals, not kids. Playing against kids. Come to the real world man. -

Hardly comparable -
Ya, it's all set up for absolutely nothing to change this season.

Can Waggott make the decisions himself does anyone know? He is probably the one that needs to be targeted. Mowbray could walk away now with some pride intact, I just have a bad feeling this is going to drag and end very nastily.

It's textbook stubborn Mowbray. We could all see yesterday we couldn't play football on it the way we were "trying". I think he had been good for the club and I'm not going to start insulting him, even if he stays the season. It's just a pity from all sides if this drags on. -

I would prefer more experience til the end of the season. I couldn't see Johnson getting us promoted. This is a job for someone who can come in and get players motivated and driven quickly. Johnson is a bit too close to the current regime. I would like him to stay around though. -
He almost certainly will. He will probably say it to the players to try and get a siege mentality going, but the players will just look at each other and be like "well he (Sharpe) is right to be fair" It's ballsy for Sharpe's standards, but like ,there is nothing untrue in it. You could even say it doest go far enough, but ya, for Sharpe it's definitely progress down the right road. It feels like there is actually a bit of pressure to get a win against Swansea now. Cos Sharpe surely has to keep going on this route now. I'm sure if we win against Swansea Mowbray will comment 100% ,but my take on that would be, wait til you actually win a few more Tony. It's going to be interesting to see how he responds. I think you are right, he will.

The State of Ewood Park!
Bigdoggsteel replied to A Northern Horde...'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
GAA ,both football and hurling was being played up until Christmas week. 30 guys trampling around fields and I never saw a bad pitch, let alone one like yesterday. GAA is amateur. Ground work is done by volunteers by and large. I don't think it's rocket science and Mowbray going on about 3-4 million pounds to fix it is is nonsese. They obviously don't have enough staff hired or, and I don't mean to sound harsh, not good enough staff. It's inexcusable for a professional club to have a pitch like yesterday. I have seen better horse racing tracks. It's just mad. I can't believe how bad it was. It definitely shows something about the club and how it's really being run. -
Best article by Sharpe I have ever read. Fair play to him. He will be run out of Brockhall again 😂 He's dead right though. Just sad, sad reading really. He doesn't say it straight out, but what he implies is so true- Mowbray says he judged the season with his eyes not with stats, well he bloody well uses stats when they suit him. He's annoying me to be honest. Mowbray out. On stats, that Nick Powell has scored more headers than our entire team, is an absolute disgrace. Mowbray probably thinks scoring headers are below his footballing philosophy. I'm sure the successful managers at this level would disagree. It's all very grim. Mowbray out out out!!

TRANSFER THREAD - JANUARY 2021
Bigdoggsteel replied to Hoochie Bloochie Mama's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well he is certainly a scrapper. He's captain everywhere he goes. Ireland haven't been the same since he left and it seems a lot of Derby fans feel the same. He's just a proper centre half. There is no fancy stuff. Better than Ayala anyway. That guy is doing my head in. We knew what we were getting there. Plays about 20 games a season. Keogh is robust, rarely misses games, which he seems to be continuing this season. Played way more than Ayala over the last 5 years. That Ayala signing was another text book Mowbray defensive f**k up. Not a bad player, but you just cannot rely on him. 3 year deal then, Jesus. He saw us coming. No wonder he came back from the Middle East that time. -

Ah no he's steady enough now. Maybe one or two high profile blunders stick in people's minds, but I would say he could be possibly be better than the majority of what we have. Ya, I'd say he's a bit nuts alright, but he's a strong character. -

Ya, he was dreadful. He's in the undroppable category now and his performances show it. I can't remember the last time he had a decent game. I can't barely remember the last time he did anything decent , full stop. He has it in him, he just seems to have faded through maybe exhaustion? Burn out? He looks like he is running through quicksand at times. Surely Trybull or Davenport would be the better option. -

Fair enough it's your opinion, but if it was accurate why would the Derby fans and his own teammates vote him player of the season so many times? Anyway, doubt it's here he is coming. Going to be interesting to see. -

So apparently you know better than people who watched him all the time, as in the Derby fans and those who played with him, as in his teammates? Because they voted him their player of the season on numerous occasions. Mmm, ok then 🤣 Some rubbish talk -

You must have hardly watched them. He was captain and won their fans AND players player of the season on numerous occasions. -
He was on 150,000 a week in Turkey I remember reading. He's on at least 30,000 now, probably more. Stoke are trying to trim it, but that's cos it was mental. I bet Powell is on at least 30,000. There was a lot of interest in him when he joined them. They are miles ahead of us financially. They probably have a year or two left of parachute payments do they?

Karanka? Keogh was playing up to last season. In fact he played considerably more games than Ayala in the last 5 seasons. At a club who were doing better than the one Ayala was at. If we are going to go out and sign someone for a fee , great. If we have no money, I think we could do worse. -
We have named numerous players who cost a fortune and you don't need to be a football expert to know that Allen and Mikel would be on more than our top earners.

I found that extremely surprising. It's hardly the truth, is it?
