New Games/General Gaming
Bigdoggsteel replied to Cocker's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football
That's a bit of a mess after being in development for so long. Like most people will buy this version , then will they areally care that much about a next gen version? If I finish a game once, that's typically it. I'll prob hold off til I get a PS5, but that's cos I have so many games to finish ahead of it. -

Watched the highlights again. How anyone can blame the defenders for those goals yesterday is beyond me. Pukki is class for the first goal and they second is a big dirty deflection, that typically seem to go against us more than we get them. You would think for the amount of shots Armstrong has, he would get a few more deflections. It probably shows how crazy and impossible some of the shots are. Pukkis link up play excellent too. Brings the 3 class attacking midfielders behind him into play. Norwich are the best side in the division. They wil be promoted with at least 5 games to play. -

Yep, fans demand all sorts from the team, but then themselves say the season is over with 18 games played. Hopefully the team don't look at it like that. I don't think they will. 3 points against Rotherham and things won't be looking so bad. -

There is a clip on YouTube of Warnock managing Sheffield United against Millwall at the den. Muscat got sent off for headbutting Paddy Kenny at half time and so did Kenny for something. Anyway, the shit housing that Warnock partakes in is a sight to behold. If anyone hasn't seen it, I recommend giving it a watch. You won't see it at Rovers anyway. Sheffield United won 2-1 -

There are 4 players in defence Stuart, 5 if you include the keeper. I didn't single the two lads out,you just did. Have you ever played any actual sport yourself? You speak about players as if they are robots. You do this a lot. Others have pointed it out. It's textbook someone who has sat on their arse and never actually kicked a ball themselves. Anyway, we have lost a few tight games. Teams above us have conceded more. This is another one of your tropes, along with the nonsense that Mowbray doesn't give youth a chance, that for some bizzare reason you are still saying up to about 2 days ago. Comical. -

His subs against Millwall won it then, right? -

It was the change being called for on here. To be fair I think Davenport deserves a run. Buckley, less so. -

If you're midfield are poor, the best 4 defenders in the world will have their work cut out. If you've played any sport yourself ,ever, you would be aware of these type of things. -

We have been at this since last season. Turning back in the opposition half and next thing it's with our keeper. We are far too conservative at times, but I do see why cos sometimes we try quick balls forward and it goes wrong. When Armstrong is off it, we struggle badly. Mowbray has faith in him as the main man, but I have my doubts he will do it consistently when it matters against teams above us or where he doesn't get 7 shots per game -

It's funny how the defence are always blamed on here. Over the top. Defence starts with attack. We have regressed in midfield and upfront too. Some crazy results so far today -

He surely has that in him, especially up against Armstrong you would imagine. What I have read though,he is playing very well. Was up for player of the month in September I think it was -

They have played well together to be fair. I'd say Mowbray is being careful with Ayala too. Knowing the 2 lads, we will need him soon enough. Great cover to have and hopefully getting fitter all the time this season. -

Mustn't have been very bad injuries so. Unlike Travis and Dack. Looking forward to those 2 coming back in. -

Norwich team still pretty good considering "all their injuries" Hard to even see ,beyond Krul, who they are missing. -
Bristol City v Rovers. Wed 9th Dec. 7.45pm
Bigdoggsteel replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Wow, simple as that. We needed to sign one of those top quality defenders that plays in every position along the backline, doesn't get injured and is also happy to be sub if the first choice players are fit. God dammit why didn't the recruitment department just think of that. Useless. Williams was meant to leave ,but it fell though for whatever reason and lucky it did in hindsight. As for your last point, I'm merely pointing out that everyone has injuries as bad as us. That's what had been said here. So if we get injuries, we can't really blame the manager, can we? My issue was more about pre the first international window when many players had to self isolate and therefore miss games ,when there was pretty much nothing wrong with them. Other clubs didn't have that as bad as us. Hence why the senior training ground was given a deep clean and its use limited. Which luckily appears to have worked. -

He would have 8 goals if not for the Coventry (4-0), Derby(4-0) and Wycombe (5-0) games. To be fair though he was responsible for 1 of the reds in those games, which he is good at. So of those 8 goals, how many penos? He has scored in 4 other tighter games we won. They are the goals that matter. We won't automatically get promoted if he finishes top scorer. His decision making needs to improve in the tight games and he needs to start looking to see if teammates are in better positions. Not just referring to the last night. He is getting a name for being very greedy. Every game we seem to have so many attempts. That's all fine when he does score, but he goes 2-3 games not scoring and we will have problems. I would be interested to see his shots taken per goal stats. I don't buy he is solely repsonsible for creating these chances, because he has never really done that consistently. The team are manufacturing chance after chance for him. His shooting from range has been woeful this season compared to last. If it was on par with last season, he could have 25 goals now. He is improving ,but it's as if when one aspect improves, another regresses. He isn't immune to scrutiny just because he is top scorer. Anyway, he's our main man up there til Dack comes back, so hopefully he is back to his sharpest tomorrow, both mentally and physically -

Ok, so you are not blaming him for Wharton's injury or for signing Williams. Not Lenihan either. So it must be Ayala? One of the top rated defenders in the championship. Well it's a gamble a cub like us kind of have to take. I think people where pretty much unanimously happy with the signing. Hopefully he stays fit now. Loads of ways he can address it? It's not as simple as just buying "extra cover". Who decent will come and be 5th choice? Who will come on loan to be 5th choice? It's not football manager. Sell one or two so the balance is better? I don't get this point. Who would you sell and why? How would this improve balance? As is being pointed out when people say we have had very bad injury problems and Covid issues this season, EVERY TEAM has injury issues. Wharton was very unlucky. How did that even happen? Plus Mowbray has given game time to Carter, Magloire amd Grayson before. So we do have them as well. -

He misses some amount of chances, so a more clinical striker could score more, I agree. We are creating chances for him though, many chances. Elliott, Brereton and Rothwell inclination is to pass to him. Even Nyambe has assisted a few. He's having a great season, but he is lucky that he is the focal point of a team that is tailored to setting him up and playing to his strengths. Let's not forget too that he has scored 5 goals against 10 men when we won well. It's certainly not Shearer levels of carrying a team. -

I agree no one is paying that much, I disagree we couldn't replace him with a few quid. £10 million would go a long way if we looked at the European market. Even before the other night, I think this team are doing more for Armstrong than he does for the team. We are set up to create chances, which is why he is scoring so many. Last season he made many of his own goals, but I don't see that happening as much(if at all) this year. If he does start doing that again, well then 30 million might be realistic! I wouldn't sell him this season anyway(unless we were offered 30 million). We won't be, but that would be too much to turn down. -

Agreed but Williams was clearly off the pace. He's usually trying to come out from the back with the ball, but there was little of that. I think some have re-imagined the game against Bristol to one where they were on top throughout with us on the ropes. It was very tight, with us shading the possession, territory and chances, but alas not the most important stat, which is goals scored. Williams and Ayala were well down the list of those who under performed, but they stood out because of the goal. The joys of being a defender! -

I would certainly accept 30 million. The way we are playing and the chances we are creating means we could replace him.
