  1. Good idea for a thread. He looks to be stuck around 3rd gear at this stage and it's difficult seeing him upping that. Whats his best position even? I think the lazy excuse people make for him is that it's the managers fault. Now as he tends to do, Mowbray did misuse him by starting him when he shouldn't and not starting him when he should, but Rothwell has had chances and rarely grabs them. I'm not even sure I know what he is good at anymore, he had a poor season. I would say I would have more hope for Chapman breaking through than Rothwell. I play a good bit of Pro evo these days and interestingly he is the lowest rated player in our starting 11.
  2. Although we might not like it, the temptation and possibly even logical(insofar as what we can actually know with regards how close a deal is) thing would be to wait for the King deal to happen so we have more money to spend on better players. The problem of course is that deal could drag on til the end of the window. I mean he is certainly leaving , so perhaps, we just pre-emptively spend the money. Although that probably isn't in line with prudent business practice.
  3. No doubt there are NDAs from that period all over the shop
  4. Ya, what I actually meant was your opinion on loans was stupid/silly, but I was trying not to be mean by being too specific. Apologies. I am glad we cleared this up ?
  5. Ha ha....Boglin. Had loads of them when younger and there is definitely a similarity
  6. Does Duffy have a sell on fee I wonder. 25% for King is fantastic. Bidding war please!
  7. Maybe the pressure of playing for a big club got to him here
  8. Well maybe not standout, but Rhodes did play 36 games for them. Anyway, always 1 exception anyway, MOST teams have 1 or 2 standout loans.
  9. Use silly if stupid offends you Plus I don't dismiss conversations, I just think saying loans are bad and not a good way for us to do business is, well, silly
  10. Ya, 2/3 very good players and we would probably have finished lower without Tosin. So ya, I think we need the core to be stronger and hopefully we will have that with Dack back and Travis and others a year older, wiser and hopefully better!
  11. Ya, for sure. Bad time for a club to get relegated from the Championship with the salary cap coming in. No chance of Mulgrews or Grahams at that level, unless they take a serious wage cut, or are lone "marquee players" in sides where the others are paid less. They have a few decent players though like Batty and the dutch centre half. Surely have a few good young lads too, but ya, not going to be easy. They are favourites with the bookies, but could easily not be in contention for the automatic places too.
  12. Debatable , every team that gets promoted haso oneor two stand out loans. Every single season. The fact PL teams can stockpile good young players and pay them ridiculous money fuels this unfortunate but reality based situation.
  13. Tosin and Cunningham are 2 recent examples. Leeds signed White on loan from Brighton, super player. Started most of not all games for Leeds last season. Ya,ideally we own our best payers, unfortunately that doesn't seem possible for pretty much every team at this level. Even the best.
  14. Yes ,there are pros and cons. Saying we shouldn't use it is stupid. Every team that gets promoted has at least 1 stand out loan player.
  15. Depends on the player!
  16. I think we should expect to be in the PL. We won it and if you asked most fans what their "dream 20" would be, I bet we would be in it. Obviously Burnley wouldn't pick us, but most other fans wouldn't pick them.
  17. Great move for him. Surely favorites for promotion. Well played Richie, well played.
  18. Hardly your typical winger either way
  19. You could be surprised. I would say a few more than them would be interested.
  20. This loan discussion is stupid. It depends on the player. Some work out, some don't. It can be a way to access player we couldn't afford otherwise, Tosin being the most recent example. Every team who gets promoted generally has a stand out loan or 2. We simply have to get involved in the loan market.
  21. Would 6 foot 5 be the biggest winger ever?
  22. I agree 100%. I wish we would actually spend some money on 1 of the keepers. It's a crucial position.
  23. Played 34 games for them in the Championship, 3 more than he did in League 1. After 2 seasons on loan I can understand why both parties would move on. I didn't read much negativity about him from Wigan fans, unlike here. We obviously saw the worst of him.
