  1. Very true. Imagine they were meant to play Derby, Boro or Bristol on the last day. As if relegation wasn't bad enough, they have now written off their chances of bouncing back next season.
  2. I'm going for a last day barn stormer here, 4-3 Rovers.
  3. Unless he signs an extension, which is entirely realistic
  4. I did find it funny that he kept referencing Norwich The proof will be in the pudding as they say
  5. Not really shit or bust though. He referenced Norwich selling Maddison and coming out of it stronger when referring to a potential Dack sale if things don't work out. If we get near promotion, it will surely be on the back of Dack having a good season. We would be looking at big money then.
  6. I doubt you know much about the players or how they contributed to be fair. Admit? You are making it sound like I said that after hours of interrogation. I have been saying it since January. If the signings are good of course it is possible. As my point clearly stated, it's difficult to find players who will contribute meaningfully. The vast majority of teams in the championship didn't. Preston are being used as an example of a team who did good transfer business in the summer and January, yet we could still finish ahead of them. I am pretty sure every single fan would have taken taken that at the start of the season.
  7. These "negotiations" with bloody agents are what slow everything down, for all teams. They are devious bastards. No doubt, even though we have shown the most interest and clearly Mowbray likes Bauer, his agent is still hawking him around left, right and center. They pass it off saying "its in the players interest to get the best deal" , but that is actually bullshit. The best deal for the player isn't necessarily the one where he(and of course the agent) get the most money, but you can be sure that's what agents are looking for. Another reason to look abroad, there is little value to be found in the English market.
  8. The Preston lads were decent signings, but lets not pretend that they set the world alight. I stand by my point that it's very difficult to sign real game changers in January. Should have signed a center half on loan though all the same. At the end of the day though, we can still finish ahead of Preston as well.
  9. Ya, Preston have a good approach to transfers, they have picked up some serious bargains from the League of Ireland as well. Hopefully we still pass them Sunday though
  10. Which signings improved Preston? Ya, we definitely should have signed a centre half on loan
  11. Of course you can prepare a long-term plan. To not do it because "things can go wrong" would lead to no one ever planning anything , in any field. The January window could definitely have been better. Not an easy time to sign players though. Can you think of any Championship teams who made what you would describe as a good signing in January? Mings at Villa comes to mind and possibly Mikel at Boro, both on enormous wages. The biggest mistake was letting Downing leave. Players are notoriously expensive in January. Your example above is the ideal outcome, we could also have spent 10 million and be stuck with a player, or players who aren't worth the money.
  12. Ya, silly long-term planning- a mugs game really
  13. Gas set up that they just call a player up for the tournament after never playing for them before. It seems their fans are positive about it though going off Twitter. The main thing now is he doesn't get injured. The experience will be great for him.
  14. I would put that down to the collapse. He obviously realised that he showed too much loyalty, but contrary to what some think, it's not easy to sort that in January. He didn't exactly say that they are better than Reed, it was more along the lines that they know how to play his system better.
  15. Thought Tony came accross great last night. Very passionate and honest. Now to do the plan!
  16. No, they haven't had an impact yet, but that doesn't automatically make them bad signings. From his first signing Mowbray has improved the squad, not made it worse. That is an ongoing process. A big summer coming up for sure.
  17. I would certainly move Rothwell, Chapman, Brereton, Nuttall and Bell out of the list they are on Hit and miss, but more positive than negative. Also generally young players, the likes of Davenport and Lyons came very highly rated.
  18. It sounds like he wants/needs even more money to be honest
  19. Yes, but my point is why does he have to wait until the season is over? He should have been over when we knew what division we were in
  20. I think Evans and even Smallwood are useful squad players. Not every game is the same. Sometimes we will need lads to do the dirty work. Valid point on Reed though!
  21. No, because the article specifically says our midfielders aren't technical enough. Did you even read the article?
  22. Why does Mowbray need to go to India weeks after we know what division we will be in to find out our budget? Why aren't season tickets on sale before the season ends so that people who attend games have the opportunity to buy one? It seems like a missed opportunity
  23. What player doesn't want that I can't see it either and I can't see us selling him on the cheap. Big season coming up for Dacky.
