Rovers v West Brom 1 Jan 2019

I can see a win for us here. 2-0 -
It all seems to stem from the last international break. We were high up the table and people were talking about play offs. Something happened over that break. If you take the Sheffield Wednesday game out of it since then we have been absolutely abysmal over 90 minutes. The multitude of ways we have managed to capitulate is staggering really. I watched the highlights of the games again last night. Preston, Wigan, Rotherham, Birmingham, Norwich, Leeds, Sheffield United. Such diversity in our shitness.

We really have witnessed some shit show defending recently. It must be very frustrating for our better performers. To be undone again and again by basic errors at the back. As I said before, there would have been uproar on here if we sold Lenihan to Sheffield United for 4.5 million that time, but in hindsight... He isn't half the player Duffy is. Whatever about Duffy, we could have done with someone like him over the Christmas. So many goals from poor defensive headers. We struggle to deal with crosses. Mulgrew is decent in the air, but the rest of our defence are disproportionately poor in the air. Nyambe, Lenihan, Bell and Williams. Its too many defenders who are bad in the air.

The fearlessness of youth is great. He has it

Just caught the highlights. Was that a straight red for Smallwood? If so very bad decisions. Maybe a yellow. Awful defending by Lenihan for their first goal. What has happened him this season? Brutal defending by Williams for the second. His concentration and passing are so bad for this level. Mulgrew not great for the third, but if I was him I would have given up at that stage too through sheer frustration at being surrounded by shit. We need defenders. We need a strong centre half in January. Prioritising anything else in January is unacceptable. I would start Downing for now, with Mulgrew.

Starting him at the weekend , just to loan him out in January would make no sense. Not saying it won't happen, just it would be illogical. He comes in and is our best player, THEREFORE START HIM AGAIN. It's not rocket science. What motivation do the young lads have otherwise? You come in, be the best player, but it makes no difference. I will judge Mowbray harshly if he let's Travis leave on loan.

Next 6 Games (January 2019)

I think that's more than a fair expectance of points. The way the league is a run like that or better could leave us around the play offs. -
It's gone to the stage where if I checked the score at half time and we were winning 4-0, I wouldnt be sure we would win. Im not actually joking. We would need to score the first after half time to finish the game off. That's a bit crazy. Some mental failing has infected the team. I saw in Mulgrews interview after the Leeds game that he knows it. I would love to hear Mulgrew speak honestly about who he would want out of the team. It would be fascinating. Whilst we all talk about Dack, if you took Mulgrew out of that team , I reckon we would struggle big time. Too many lads that can't keep their heads under pressure. It's worrying at this time of the season. Lenihan, Williams and Smallwood are the main offenders. Then you have a lad Like Armstrong starting, who would be one of the last players I would want in a fight. What Mowbray sees in him, I just don't know. I think the 4 of them need to be removed from the starting 11. Get Downing, Bell, Rodwell and Rothwell in for now.
