  1. We broke the British transfer record if I'm not mistaken?
  2. What would be the point in not signing him? A good young player, with experience at this level. If he is happy to come and fight for his place, whats the problem? Competition is good. I don't see the need for concern here? Anyway, you mixed up players from different positions in your post. Palmer certainly is not going to be vying for a place with Reed. Same with Bennett and Rothwell it would seem. So its simply that Harrision is competing with Smallwood ,at this point.
  3. If people are reasonable ,it doesn't have to be that way.
  4. Nobody is saying that he doesn't have to be a success, just that it may take time. The fee and what we have or have not spent in previous seasons should not be a weight on the young lads back
  5. Of course too much will be expected of Brereton from some. If he doesn't perform straight away it will be ; waste of money, money should have been spent elsewhere etc etc. If he isn't straight into the team, people will be complaining. See that's the problem with football these days, fans want everything instantly. As some of you say, the guy is 19, a child basically. He shouldn't have huge pressure on him just because he is our biggest signing in some time.
  6. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16600988.an-okay-start-for-unbeaten-rovers-says-boss-mowbray/?ref=mac Have to agree the start has only been ok. When you look at the table and see Reading and Ipswich the bottom 2 ,that puts things in perspective. The positive is that we are playing well and should have won against both of those teams, alas we didn't. Our next 5 fixtures are going to be a real test of where we are at Bristol city away Villa home Derby away Stoke away Nottingham forest home That will bring us up to 10 games played. I usually hate the international break, but it will come at a good time for us, especially if we beat Bristol, or even draw. It will give a few of our injured players time to heal and some of the new signings time to bed in. After that Forest game, I reckon we will have a good idea where our season is headed.
  7. Which raises the question, will fans expect too much of him too soon?
  8. I thought that. So why does Nixon keep saying that they need a manager? He doesn't usually criticize managers , from what i see at least
  9. Do Bradford have a manager? Nixon keeps saying when asked about signings "need a manager first". His tweets are weird sometimes and not literal. I thought they had a manager
  10. 19 is so young in football terms these days. Look at Reed. Still seen as a youngster at Southampton and he is 23. Fair play to Mowbrays approach of trying to build a young exciting team. Young lads have no fear. Combined with our wiser heads, I'm feeling optimistic for the first time in years
  11. Is that what you get for scoring a hat-trick in round 2 of the league cup these days? Nice one!!
  12. Seems peoples main problem with the window is that we didn't sign Chapman or someone like him. I think we can agree it was a good move not signing Chapman, as for someone like him- I am all for suggestions. Rothwell, Palmer and Brereton all look far, far more useful, well-rounded and robust players to me. I have absolutely no concerns about us as an attacking force.
  13. Ya, that's how I read it after writing it, ha ha
  14. Fisher Paul "the body" Caddis Downing Rodwell Williams Tomlinson Smallwood Conway Palmer Rothwell Nuttall I reckon we will have more first teamers, but I would be looking at Bristol at the weekend. A win there and we have a serious foundation to build on after the international break.
  15. Here, he is obviously seen as more of a left back , but he has played center half many times. Adaptable
  16. Plays right back as well. So cover for Nyambe. Handy
  17. Exactly, there is rarely a need to play him there. He is left back competition for Bell.
  18. I agree with that and wasn't directing the comment at you. On the final sentence, I think we have done this, squad wise anyway. I couldn't pick anyone near the end of last season from the starting 11 who I would class as weak or under performing. Smallwood is under a bit of pressure now, but the lads earned the right to keep the jersey until performance levels drop to the point where they don't. I think that is good man management
  19. Williams is first and foremost a left back here. I have no idea what Mowbrays opinion on him as a center half is, nor do you. I reckon Bauer may be a replacement for Downing , who seems to have dropped right out of contention for whatever reason.
  20. Well its not that straight forward. Mowbray sees Williams as a left back and Bauer would bring more physicality, which we would all agree we need at the back. Charlton won't budge, so he is being patient. Better to wait for the player he wants ,rather than panic buy. Rodwell is here on a low cost contract for a season, if he works out, we won't need Bauer, if he doesn't work out, Bauer will be a more realistic option as his contract ticks down.
  21. That's a silly comment. Saying you want to sign 3 or 4 is different to saying you are disappointed regardless who we sign , after the fact. I think we have improved the squad this summer, but I think people may be underestimating how good we were to start with. That season in League 1 has really brought something out of this team. It's not about a major overhaul, its about signing players who will bring competition and help those already here. I think that has been done. Not a perfect window, but much better than I expected it to be. It is funny how expectations move. If you offered fans these signings at the beginning of the summer, they would have snapped your hand off.
  22. He played there for Bristol and for us on a few occasions. I wouldn't have any concerns about him playing in a back 4 anymore than I would a back 3..
