  1. Ya, Mahon was via Wigan. So has it ever happened? We are worse than Boca and River plate or Celtic and Rangers!
  2. Come on now, you are being too nice. Conway was good, Guthrie was ok but he was injured far too much. Feeney was indeed used a bit last year, but now he is in League 1 with Blackpool, which tells its own story. One thing I have noticed about Mowbray is that even though he is a real gent, when his judgement tells him a player won't work for us, he can be very, very ruthless. Feeney is a prime example, he took one look and was like "no thanks pal". He has done it with a few players. Even Whittingham this summer. Many managers would have stuck with him after giving him a 2 year deal and him not playing much, as releasing him may reflect badly on the manager. Mowbray doesn't care. When he has to cull, he culls with the absolute best of them.
  3. True, or just a freebie for advertising for some local dealership. Wherever local is to Jack these days
  4. You are dead right. I saw a pic a few weeks ago that Jack Byrne posted on social media. It was of his huge 2018 Range rover outside his house. I mean, the guy has done nothing career wise. Going backwards. Yet he can afford a brand new Range rover. Crazy
  5. He was captain of the under 23s last year, wasn't he? Best of luck to him
  6. Ya, very true. In Ireland we had Liam Brady and Johnny Giles who grew up playing on the streets of Dublin. Duffer would have been a street player too. I rarely see unstructured games around the city these days.
  7. Ya, I agree on Gallagher. Chapman would be great. Lets bring back back Chris Samba Ah no, he was one of my favourite players when here, but the whole way he left leaves a bad taste. Big Sam used to love lumping him upfront whens needs be. I don't know if Mowbray likes adopting such an approach though. Maybe because we don't really have someone who could do it effectively. I think it was against Spurs once where Allardyce threw Samba upfront, it was a thing of beauty(in my eyes). He won EVERYTHING, defenders couldn't handle him at all.
  8. Thats interesting alright. On kind of a semi-related point. Richard Dunne was speaking on the radio the other night about the Man city academy. He was less than positive. He said all age groups are overly structured, learning the same drills over and over, like a conveyor belt. He said there is little to no room for individuality. I watched the Man city doc on amazon and it briefly showed the young kids in the academy. It looked industrial alright. When you see a player like Dack who has had to go back down the leagues to work their way up eventually, I think it gives him that nasty edge that will give him a huge advantage over young lads who were churned out of the top academies at 22-23.
  9. I don't know if I would count Jones or McEvely as they were loans from other clubs. Robinson I suppose ya. Anyone move for a fee though?
  10. This is a permanent deal in all but name. That's really all we need to focus on
  11. I am sure that would go down well. Actually, who was the last player to move directly in either direction?
  12. Take that back, go wash your mouth out and then go and take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror If you watch how we play, Mulgrew is essentially our quarter back. Every play starts from or goes through him at some point. He needs a tough, physical ,no nonsense player beside him. I think Lenihan can fill that role
  13. Fulham and Villa turned down even larger bids for Cairney and Grealish respectively. Undoubtedly Cairney was off if they didn't go up and I would say its the same for Grealish, in fact I am surprised he is still there. We should be able to get through January without selling him, next summer will be a different story. We pretty much need to go up in the next 2 seasons to have any chance of keeping Dack I reckon. Then again if he keeps going as he is up until January, we could have some serious bids then. £20 million would be hard to turn down. It would be a sad day though, the lad is special and you don't get players like him in your team too often
  14. I reckon there will be £20 million bids in for him within the next 2 windows. That will be a real test for him and us
  15. A typical Rovers under Mowbray hard fought 0-1 away win I don't think Dack will start either. The amazing thing is that I am not even that worried if he doesn't
  16. Why was he never likely to be good enough? He was at the Man U academy first, then the Liverpool one. He must have had something about him. I see no reason why, if he is doing well, that we couldn't sign him to an extension at some point this season
  17. Dack is only 24 now. How much could he potentially be worth in 3 years time when he is in his prime? We have a real gem on our hands!
  18. Nixon just tweeted "not a chance" when asked if we will sell Dack this window
  19. Wow, that was quick. Nicely done. Credit where it's due
  20. I can't see it happening this window at least
  21. Because they have no one as good as Dack. Anyway, I wouldn't say our players are linked in the rags less or more than other clubs in the Championship. You just notice it more
  22. Ya, I would say it's safe to assume we won't be selling Dack and replacing him with Carlos Vela, as it states in the article.
