  1. Not that simple unfortunately. He may know how to deal with them and probably does so as well as anybody, but they are cnuts and are constantly evolving into even more snakey forms Isn't that right @JAL
  2. Our budget needs to stop somewhere though. We shouldn't be held to ransom or pay more than a player is worth. It's a waiting game. Burnley, Spurs and Everton are all yet to make a signing. It's not easy, even when you have bags of cash.
  3. I watched a doc about agents and have read a lot about it. They are basically used car salesmen on steroids. For an honest ,genuine man like Mowbray, it must be frustrating. I would imagine they lie, don't answer calls when it suits and all sorts of other bullshit to try and manipulate things so as to make as much money as possible. A really ,really bad side effect of the modern game and its hyper monetization
  4. I wouldn't mind working there myself, although we had a very tropical summer here this year. Yes of course agents are approached, but 99% of them undoubtedly give the club ridiculous figures. We think a player is worth 300,000 and should be paid 8,000 per week(based on our current wage structure and what that player has actually achieved to date). The agent says well the club will accept that, but you need to offer him 20,000 a week. The club then say no, we want 2 million for the player. Agent comes back and says, actually he is now talking to another club and they are offering 22,000 per week(I am sure they lie about this). Now imagine that, but with 10 clubs involved with that particular player and his agent. We are probably involved in this dance for around 5 players. As happens every window then, time ticks down and you reach a compromise. The agents can potentially mess things up if call too may bluffs, but these guys are sneaky , real sneaky... If it was a case of us paying what the club and agent say first time of asking, we would be getting fleeced left, right and center
  5. Very black and white. Replacing most of our team which won promotion last season would be silly. There is a great team spirit there. The ideal is to compliment the squad with some additional quality. Now is not a time for wholesale changes
  6. So you want to replace most of our team from last year? Wow.
  7. I was surprised when I heard Charlton were signing him, so this makes sense. He was the slowest and most lumbering centre half I have ever seen in a Rovers shirt. I don't think it will affect our chances of getting Bauer though, the article mentions they have options other than Ward. A number of Charlton fans are tweeting that the club are enforcing lights off policies around the ground and requesting staff wash their own uniforms, all in the name of cost cutting. They will end up selling us Bauer for around 3-4 hundred thousand.
  8. Ya, some good signings alright. I see there manager is (kind of) Irish. Very patriotic name too He got promoted from manager of the under 18s. I had forgotten Grayson had left.
  9. The only 1 of them you could call a definite starter was Armstrong though. I would have doubts about Samuel and Nutall too, so we do need a striker. Payne was a nice back up to Dack, I am surprised we didn't sign him on loan as he was available. I suppose he didn't want to be a sub, nor did Huddersfield. I think Mowbray plans on using Rothwell there. Then there is Glad.... actually, ya so Rothwell can play there
  10. Who have they signed that you reckon will be in the first team? I think the players in the starting 11 last season would disagree with you there. It's about creating competition. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that Davenport and Rothwell will be starting the 1st game of next season
  11. Nope nothing wrong with it, but nothing wrong with asking who they should replace in the first team either!
  12. Yes, he would be a great signing. Can imagine a fee would be involved though and a long queue
  13. So 7 first-team players, right... Who are you dropping from last year? I think you are going to be disappointed
  14. No doubt about it, if we don't sign 2 wingers and a striker of quality , we are going to struggle. Keep the faith though!
  15. Very valid point. You would think as long as the sponsor is on the playing kit, that should be good enough. In this case, even if we had 3 options on sponsor logo colour; White, black or navy, it would make such a difference. I am going to buy the away one now because of this stupid logo *edit, actually a white logo would be stupid as the jersey is white. Feckin purple would be better than black though
  16. Feck sake, I want this option as a gambling company sponsor offends me! Every jersey is nicer without a sponsor
  17. But you don't know whats going to happen Mowbray has said in his comments that bids are in for players and this is progressing. We are just waiting on Dack to sign a new deal and that will mean a number of our main men have signed long term deals. No fear of anyone leaving. It is the 2nd transfer window in a row where there have been more positives than negatives since Venkys took over. Plus, there is still 3 weeks to go. We all want business done early, but it's not easy. You can throw silly money around like a Forest, but lets see how that works out for them I agree about signing players with 1st team experience as opposed to under 23 experience with a City or a Liverpool. Rothwell and Davenport both tick the box of having 1st team experience along with a solid foundation of coming though the academies at Utd and City respectively. Ideally we need a striker, 2 wingers and a centre half. I reckon we will sign 1 striker, 1 winger and 1 centre half on permanent deals before the window closes, with the other winger coming on loan.
  18. How did you get it without the sponsor? Is that option only available for kids jerseys?
  19. But we haven't signed any kids on loan from the Premiership, we have made 2 permanent signings.
  20. On Villa. They are losing 5 million per month The latest from the Birmingham Mail: “Villa need a cash injection before the weekend as owner Tony Xia’s problems continue to mount. “Money needs to be raised by Friday to pay this month’s tax bill on time, but the embattled chairman is close to exhausting his loan options. “Selling either Jack Grealish or James Chester would paper over the cracks in the short-term as Villa continue to lose around £5m a month.”
  21. The change to pale blue is hasn't anything to do with a Venkys conspiracy. I wouldn't imagine they have any input into the kit design. Can the poll have an option "Like the kit, hate the sponsors logo"
  22. Every team has an inequadequte budget when it comes to dealing with players agents.
  23. Do you really think it's as simple as knowing the fee and wages before going for a player? Wow. It's so simple. Why does practically every transfer drag on I just don't know. You should be our Head of negotiations before you inevitably get poached by Madrid of course
