  1. He would actually want to be in the opposition half which is clearly not where anyone else wants to be
  2. This is looking increasingly worrying. Even in the games we won we created next to nothing and there has been no sign of anyone coming in. As most expected, with the players we lost last season we will be lucky to compete at a midtable level.
  3. I don't know why everyone is surprised. We have at best a midtable squad, we were never going to be keeping up the results we had. Hopefully this gives a better idea of our weaknesses and allows us to sign a fee more people.
  4. Glad to see we're doing a good bit of business, and the sticker book announcement leads me to hope that we've done the vast majority of business and we're just putting the finishing touches, moving them etc. JPvH would be massive but I don't see it, the guy was far too good for this league last year and Brighton would be mental to let him go.
  5. You know full well if Gally went to Boro they're going to find a load of success from a Giles/Gally combination that literally every man that isn't called Tony Mowbray could have set up by not playing them both out of position constantly.
  6. This and the guys coming through now would say thst it has been worth the investment. The problem is that the club is so unbelievably inept at handling contracts that we never cash in on them when we should have, and therefore haven't pulled in nearly the amount we could have for reinvestment. It's the same with BBD this summer - if he's not signing a new contract we have to get rid this summer because we can't afford another high value asset to disappear on a free.
  7. From the videos of training that have been posted JDT looks to be well involved with the players and pushing them relatively hard, whilst giving players both old and young a chance to give their ideas. It's refreshing to see a manager who takes training seriously and clearly has a plan he wants to implement.
  8. That logo is ghastly, I really hope there is a sponsorless version available (unlikely but one can dream).
  9. Letting Rothwell, Lenihan and Nyambe go is less of an issue because of their ability, and more because we could have got a reasonable amount of money towards replacements. That's the difference between replacing them with proven quality or having to go through the bargain bucket for a uncovered gem. Across the 3 there have definitely been rumours of a total of £10m+ bids that would have made a massive difference. It's absolutely criminal that we let the contracts run down and to be honest they should have been sold 12 months ago when it was clear they wouldn't sign.
  10. At the end of the day no coach worth a damn doesn't bring their own people in - simple as that. If this is going to be a hard limit for Venky's we're going to be really scraping the barrel.
  11. Probably weren't willing to pay that much for Ayala because he's only ever fit for a third of the season whereas we signed him out of desperation. Not every club wastes money like we do.
  12. Whilst I agree with the gamble I'd rather see us go for something a bit out there over some of the proven to be dross options we've discussed over recent weeks.
  13. Wouldn't be top of my list but that Derby squad was closer to surviving than they had any right to be considering the squad, the points deduction and everything going on around them.
  14. Honestly on the face of it a good pickup, and gives me a bit of faith that the manager won't be as bad as feared. Hopefully we can get the manager in place soon and begin to build for next season ASAP.
  15. Deila isn't someone I'd particularly want, but his record is better than I gave him credit for. Has won the league in every country he's managed in, and whilst those leagues aren't the highest quality, he clearly knows how to drive a team home, which is what we desperately needed in the second half of this season. Certainly an upgrade on Mowbray in any case.
  16. Crucially for me whilst he isn't a Farke or Carvahal, out of the lower league picks he is someone who will genuinely care. I don't want another dosser who spends all his time sulking about how we're not the best team in England anymore. Plus, a manager who is actually up for derbies in a season where we are playing so many local teams? Could do a lot worse.
  17. Will to win means absolutely nothing without the ability to actually manage. He has no experience and even as an assistant has only consistently underperformed with a very expensive Everton side. He has done nothing to eatn a Championship job and if he wants to manage should prove himself further down the pyramid. Anyone wanting him over even the likes of Ainsworth is off their rocker.
  18. I'm getting that feeling too, and honestly that would be miles worse than Pardew imo. Proven himself to be nothing but an abject failure even with PL money behind him.
  19. Awful decision for me that screams "we can't attract a decent sponsor". Even without the moral implications the logo is hideous and likely to ruin any shirts we get.
  20. As with the last few appointments it will be someone no one has talked about that is with a certain agency and well and truly on the scrapheap. There was a real chance to make a statement with these appointments, and really push season tickets with a new dawn of kicking on from a reasonable (albeit frustrating) season. Instead, they'll likely fumble it, appoint someone who inspires literally no one and will continue to complain that they can't attract the fan base they lost. I'd honestly love to know what Venky's end goal is if this is the case, because aside from when we first came down they've shown literally no ambition to improve.
  21. Considering the amount of decent managers with proven track records that are out there this just screams "cheap agents' choice". If they want to cement low season ticket sales this is the kind of appointment to make. JFC
  22. I remember watching Magloire in preseason a couple of years back against Leicester and he look really good, but then when he was needed in league games he fell to pieces multiple times. Shame as he was always touted as a potential star. Doesn't seem to have done much on loan unlike Wharton and Carter. Maybe the hope is a decent coach can actually get a tune out of him.
  23. I still can't believe Spurs potted him the week before the final. I appreciate in the leagues they were a bit all over the shop but if there ever was someone to beat Guardiola in a final with a weaker team it was Jose.
  24. My hope is the retained list hasn't been released yet because they're still negotiating with Lenihan and Nyambe. However the silence on everything else is amateurish.
  25. No. I wanted him gone last season where we had nosedived for the second successive season and were in relegation form. I wasn't particularly high on our position in January because I knew in the long run we would fall way short. This second half season pattern is a Mowbray thing, not a Rovers one. Even a semi-competent manager would have had us in the play-offs from where we were. He has been holding back a reasonably talented young squad for a while.
