  1. Surely FFP rules have now been thrown out? Without benevolent owners pumping money into clubs to keep them afloat, many are likely to go bust.
  2. I can't understand what you base that decision on. I've seen nothing from Davenport that even supports a squad place, you know what you're likely to get from Evans. To be fair, I'd look to move both players on considering the plethora of midfielders and the need to allow further development of our under 23s.
  3. Nyambe at right back and give JRC a whirl at left back and go again. Go for Derby's jugular and don't over complicate and over think Tony, please.
  4. I also think (hope) the arrival of Dolan and his early form, could be just the kick up the arse that Harry Chapman probably needed. If Dolan continues as he's started and Chapman produces the form we all hope for, those 2 wide could terrorise defences.
  5. Apparently Gareth Ainsworth is off down the Vulcan tonight before he either washes his hair or turns rasta.
  6. The most enjoyable 90 minute performance from Rovers in ages. Super stuff. A reminder why a baseball cap and sunglasses are needed on a bright mid September afternoon on The Riverside had we been there. Who could ever doubt mercerman's big balls and ultimate wisdom! COYB!
  7. Has Ben learned how to trap a ball yet? Has Ben learned how to move off at pace once he's trapped a ball?
  8. The fact is, that with some positive, believable encouragement and no bullshit, we'd all be onside!
  9. Just had a meal and a couple of beers with my 2 sons, none of us are going to buy a season ticket. It's not even likely to be a realistic proposition to purchase. Keep safe people. COYB Waggott and co must be on a different planet, they should be crawling over themselves to encourage us to re-engage...... As it is, they haven't a fucking clue....
  10. It's the general tone period Tony. If he'd taken the time to look at how many away tickets you purchase over a season in addition to your season tickets, it deserves a much better response than you got. Surprised he didn't ask which part of the ground you'd prefer to be moved to when supporters are permitted in the ground again or if you'd like to upgrade to a Premier Suite package! We should treat our life blood so much better but you already know that.
  11. Greaves was a clever, skilful forward with silky ball skills and Smith a no nonsense, hard tackling centre half who also read the game well. They played against each other many times and in the spirit of the game in general, I'm unsure who got the better of who most. More skilful, definitely, better player I'm not so sure. Tommy also scored whilst on his way to becoming a European Cup winner. Jimmy did nothing to come close but he did have a sense of humour!
  12. Similar era: Tommy Smith handing Jimmy Greaves a copy of the evening menu for Walton Hospital as they stood next to each other in the tunnel at Anfield pre-match and saying "You'll be needing this Jimmy".
  13. Reading through the posts in this match thread, they could be attributed to the majority of away games and performances over the past 4 or 5 years. It's just more of the same: score twice but still conspire to lose. You build from the back Tony.
  14. The decision regarding the Jack Walker Upper is ridiculous bordering on scandalous. 'Corporate' ? How many are there even if it's fully subscribed, 500, 1000? If memory serves correct the upper tier holds circa 8,000, so even on the basis of 30% capacity being the limit, it could still safely accommodate 2,600ish within the restrictions. So why the need to piss off so many valued supporters, many elderly probably never to return? I understand these are difficult times but Waggott and his cronies haven't a bloody clue and appear determined to finish off the club. They make my blood boil.
  15. I agree and that says to me he lacks intelligence. He has the basic physical ability but that's insufficient.
  16. We've had plenty of duffers over the years but 2 years in, using your criteria, I think Big Ben is as bad as any that have gone before him. Hopefully he's gonna come good!
  17. He's potentially an entertainer, a player we as supporters crave, a player that has the ability to beat a man. Whether he's good enough on a consistent basis, I'm unsure, hence why he may fall under the 'myth' category. He's like Chapman, that we all want to be a success because we all want to be on the edge of our seat during matches and not have to endure 90 minutes of 65% possession in our own half that comes to nowt.
  18. Just to save me scrolling through multiple pages on the thread, would I be correct in assuming we haven't made any signings, or been positively linked with anybody and we're still uncertain whether any funds are available for transfer fees? If so, its what I expected and what we're likely to need to get accustomed to for the foreseeable future. With no immediate income stream and the fact that company records only need to be kept for 7 years, I fear the worst.
  19. A nonsense letting Raya leave. The worry is, currently our best goalkeeping option is a joiner with a pack of 8 foot x 4 inch lengths of timber, a bag of nails and a claw hammer.
  20. As others have said, such a sad loss. I recall standing on the Blackburn End with my Grandad in the late 60s watching a youth team match against Liverpool. I'd be 7 or 8 years of age, Metcalfe was outstanding and Grandad told me with reference to mecky, "he'll be signing up soon on £200 a week". I never forgot that, a fortune I thought! Stuart Metcalfe, you were a Blackburn Rovers legend and one of our own. RIP.
