  1. I probably played against you, as I played for West End CYC for around 15 years. Sorry to hear about the injury, did it mean you missed the final on Ewood? I don't know Dave personally, but certainly remember playing against him. Pass on my condolences, when you next speak to him.
  2. I remember paying against him a few times over the years, including the 1987 Eddleston cup final on Ewood Park. He will be beside himself, with what has happened. I have two of my own around the same age. Awful news.
  3. I think I know who Matt's Dad is. Did he play for Marsh House in Blackburn combination in the late 80's early 90's?
  4. Both great players in that era. One chant your Dad will remember. Tony Field, superstar, how many goals have you scored so far?
  5. He does seem to be making a rod for his own back. I agree that he has his limitations, but effort and enthusiasm, can make up for that. Some of the recent petulance though and his reluctance to sign his new deal, leaves me thinking, he believes he is better than he is. Perhaps he needs to take stock and have a reality check. He was rejected by PNE and Rovers rescued him, so is it time for him to repay some of that faith shown in him, back.
  6. I see what you mean. No idea why, perhaps there is some connection to the armed forces in his family, or some other meaning. It remind me a bit of what Patrick McNee’s character did the the avengers.
  7. It’s days like this that make following BRFC, the nicest hobby in the world. Everyone working hard, sticking to a game plan and showing that bit of quality, when needed. JDT has a style about him, both in terms of his coaching and what he says to the press and in essence, the hierarchy at the club, through the press. He has instilled both style and character and a real sense of togetherness in the players. I thought Hyam and Carter were magnificent today, Pears did everything asked of him and Wharton is just a real gem. The goal was worthy of winning the match and the start is now a decent one. I always thought the result was key today and I’m delighted we did it. Time to enjoy a beer and catch up with my daughter, son in law and Grandson, who are out to see me, for a holiday. COYB.
  8. Nerves kicking in now, as even thought it’s early days, a win gets the tails up and it’s let’s crack on time and a defeat, would perhaps be a bad dent to an early season optimism. As usual with Rovers games, the first goal will be crucial.
  9. We got some rain yesterday for about an hour. Lovely again now, but a bit windy. You should find a bar showing it.
  10. Pre season too. He is not going to shine in La Liga.
  11. He started the most recent match and was subbed around 15 minutes form time. Villarreal get first win of the season thanks to Gerard Moreno’s goal against RCD Mallorca Villarreal can smile. The Submarine got their first win of the season with a 0-1 victory over RCD Mallorca thanks to a goal from Gerard Moreno, who became the club’s all-time top scorer (107 goals), surpassing Adriano García. Good news all round. The biggest novelties in Quique Setién’s XI were the Italian centre-back Matteo Gabbia and the Anglo-Chilean striker Brereton Díaz. Both made their debuts in official matches and were in the starting line-up.
  12. Patience pays off (0-1) - Web Oficial del Villarreal CF
  13. The locals are realising, that they have signed a dud.
  14. He doesn't play for draws and certainly seems to have the philosophy of going for it. A lot better than turning up, especially at an away ground and grinding out a point. Lose 2 and win one, never seemed as good as 3 draws, but it yields the same number of points, so I applaud him for this, especially if it is to wins and a loss, instead of 3 draws.
  15. Up to the red card, it looked to me like we were playing a high risk very open style. It reminded me of the second half V Millwall last season. At that point, it crossed my mind that JDT was perhaps thinking, what have we to lose here? Until and if we have some new signings in, I’m on a hiding to nothing, so just okay open football and hope to win 4-3 or something. I think he even eluded to that in his pre match interview. It changed after the sending off, as we retreated a bit. We may well do the same next Sunday though.
  16. Me too. If we can keep it level up to the hour, we can go on to win this still.
  17. That red (second yellow) was given due to their player waving an imaginary card. That’s a bootable offense this season. The ref did his job and I’m sure that will be the punishment every time.
