That *was* the January Window

The word “plan” and Venkys tend not to be associated with each other… Sammy is making headlines and an ambitious championship club looking to aid their promotion/playoff push might fancy him - especially if the rumour is that we need to sell. As for SS - if he wants a chance at prem football then a move is probably needed… -

Did Telalovic look more like a footballer than previous cameo? Also suggests that Markanday is finished at rovers if he can’t get on the pitch with this injury and fixture list 🤔 -

Actually concerned that a bid för Sammy S is a real risk with the money used to keep the lights on -

Enjoyed watching us play / the game but hate losing. Don’t watch too often but was impressed overall given the players available. Also impressed with how both Dolan and Moran saw and executed some killer passes. At 1-1 I was struggling to think of a change that wouldn’t weaken the team and disrupt our “flow” even though I like Leonard as a player. TLDR good football, shit defending and weak bench. Blame the bus not the coach 😉 -

Wasn’t it Paul Senior that brought in Mowbray? Add JDT being recruited by Greg B and the Vs stats get even worse… -

Pears/ Kaminski.. summer plans?
Roverthechimp replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
TK is a better GK in the old school sense. Pears appears better regarding distribution and with the ball at his feet. I’d prefer TK but if Pears can improve his decision making then I could understand if TK was sold for a few million. edit: i can understand selling him but i wouldn”t if promotion is actually the aim -

If you were offered a free pick of all players on the pitch yesterday to play a match for you to win 10 million pounds - how many Rovers players would be in your team? Take out sentiment, potential and history and i’m struggling for more than 2 and both are defenders… JDT has done a decent job over the season but needed 1 or 2 strikers in january to ek out wins when the pressure increased. I hope he stays but think he will leave -

The difference: Burnleys players look like they eat 3 shredded wheat for breakfast. Rovers players more the sugar puffs type… -

Quality wise - fair enough. Effort wise - felt like he was half assed both pressing and chasing the ball and i assume that is why he was subbed. But i can have been judging harshly - no doubt he has more quality/ability out wide than anyone else in our squad -

After yesterday would anybody still sign Sorba? He can play but the lack of effort at times was appalling. -

Hedges must do better or corner flag. Wharton should have dragged him down/back after his slip/mistake All the players looked nervous after our goal - that is hard to coach out of players. JDT should have left Sammie on even if it meant hooking Brereton. That said: the deflection was hideously unlucky 🤬 -

Spanish tv is awesome. Crowd noise and excitable commentators ( it helps that I have no idea what they are saying 👌🤣) -

Deeply worrying. JDT gone in the summer. Will Broughton bring in a proper replacement or someone he can control -

Look at our bench and starting lineup to see where the blame should lie and the deeper issue. Game is not played in a vacuum - coventry would throw everything at us and the changes were to deal with that. With Sorba, Brereton and Dolan on the pitch we have players to counter-attack. With our bench i think we made the changes available to us -

🤣 Think i would have remembered that.. -
Fair play - they did the job, board made a good appointment (not so clear cut at the time), the admin team did their job and everbody really bought into ”do everything we can” including the players. Rovers - look and learn ffs even if it is 10 years late. 2 seasons in a row that we have been in a good position in january only to fuck it up. IMO our head coach is the least culpable and i will be surprised if he stays here if there is not a serious change in recruitment policy/routine in early summer

Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach
Roverthechimp replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I would say that we have a more skillfull set of players but the others have more strength (physical and mental), more depth (look at Norwich subs today) and more balls/bottle as you point out. often i find the phrase “men against boys” springing to mind but many of our players have 100+ senior games behind them 🤔 -

Agree with much of what you write but not sure about the bit i highlighted. We know our team can mix it when everyone is fit and in form but our squad is pretty thin and we have few leaders that can drag the rest along when it gets tough. JDT is hamstrung but i agree that ”balls to the wall” should have been the tactic today and for coming games
